OVERALL: Ava is very smart and sly woman. She is very careful about who she hangs out with, and she only has friends or relationships if it's to her mutual benefit. She also doesn't show her emotions very well, though she likes to play with others emotions. If she finds someone that she's fond of, she won't openly admit it and gets jealous quite easily. She's extremely stubborn and doesn't like it when things don't go her way. Ava Louise Paragon was born to parents Melinda and Wyatt Paragon. Her mother and father always treated the little girl well, and their family always had food on the table. The family lived outside of the main city of District 5, where most people were employed at a power plant. She knew that her mother worked the computers at the power plant, but she never knew what her father did. He said that he worked from home, and during the daytime, he would go into the basement and now come out until dinner. Ava's natural curiosity led her down there one night when she was five years old only to find that there was a whole wired setup, with three computers and pieces of paper scattered everywhere. She never knew what to think of it. What could he be doing on a couple computers? Young Ava assumed that he was just working an office job from home. She kept going on with her life, ignoring the large, illegal business that was going on in her basement.
At school, Ava was a very good student. She wasn't the smartest, but she was very good with people and her teachers. Her vocabulary was fantastic for her age and so was the way she worked with people. As she got older, her father's job really started to gain her curiosity. Ava knew there was something going on, and finally, she decided to ask her father about it.
When he told her that he sold and traded secrets online, it really intrigued eight-year-old Ava. She never knew there was a whole business just for trading secrets. She knew she had to keep quiet about it or else her father would get in a lot of trouble. After only a couple days of thinking it over, she wanted to learn the business for herself. Ava was mature for her age and excelling in school, both academic and socially, so he accepted her offer. Behind her mother's back, the man showed the ropes to his daughter. She got the hang of it quite well, and did so for the next two years.
The Dark Days broke out all across Panem, and her father almost went rogue. He never left the basement, not to say hello to his wife or his daughter. After the first year of the Dark Days, Ava's mother left the two. A couple of days later, they got a note saying that she died in an explosion. Ava's father was devastated.
She kept learning from him, coming home from school and watching him work. She wanted to be the next person to take over the business. Her father started drinking heavily, but as long as Ava knew the knowledge when it was her father's time to die, she was okay with that. She had never been close with her family. The school ended up shutting down because of how bad the violence. When her father would drink himself to being passed out for hours at a time, Ava took the helm. She often talked to clients, traders, and other illegal business owners. For five years, she did this in her early to mid teens.
One night, there was a knock on the door. She was in the basement working while her father was sleeping. Someone ended up breaking the door down and barging into the house. They were screaming about someone ripping them off and ruining their lives, and Ava knew she had to go. She had a flash drive that backed up everything on the computers. She took the flashdrive, grabbed the best, lightest laptop they had, and a bag full of clothes just in case something happened. She heard gunshots upstairs, figuring her father was dead. Ava destroyed everything that was on the computers, leaving everything she had come to know behind.
With her connections, she ordered an illegal ID. She essentially created a new persona and made her seem four years older than she actually was. She always kept her real ID in a safe place, but her new ID let her skip out on the rest of school and get an apartment in the big city of District 5. Her father was loaded with money, which she just kept away and didn't touch most of the time.
The last two years of the war was busy for Ava. She learned a lot being hands on and full time with secrets. She loved the power it gave her, and she even took risks by meeting with people in person if they were extremely trustworthy. She ordered books from different districts to read, trying to learn as much about Panem's history that she could in her free time. The war benefited her in every way, and she never cared about who identified with what. As long as she was making money and she kept her job, she was okay with that.
Her apartment is clean, with only one laptop that requires multiple pass codes to hack in to. She doesn't trust many people and works closely with Aiden, an illegal goods dealer. Ava is building her empire to be the best it could be, trying to be careful but also living on edge. She loves her life and loves dealing with people. She always makes sure she has the upper hand on others when she meets with them, having her own hitman watching her dealings in the background. She only talks to people who are worthy of her time and often gets catty with other women. Ava does enjoy drama and feels that it makes her life interesting.
