Violet was born in a cold, dark room in District 13 by a prostitute. Her father was the head of a nuclear weapons facility and didn't associate with Violet's mother. Until the time she was two, Violet's mother tried to care for the little girl as best as she could, but when overcome with a disease, she ended up dying. Her father ended up taking in Violet. He was extremely rich, but ignored Violet and kept her hidden. She was kept in a room, schooled by a strict woman every weekday and very rarely saw anybody else. Violet got a fantastic education, but because of the lack of social interaction, she developed Antisocial Personality Disorder. She didn't have many emotions to show, she didn't know the difference between right and wrong, and she was quite manipulative to her teacher. But, as long as she wasn't found out that she was his daughter, his father didn't give a damn. She got anything she wanted by putting it on a list. She wore nice clothes, had fun toys, and got the best furniture in Panem. She didn't even realize that a war was starting until she heard a bomb go off by her home.
When she was seven, her father stopped showing up. She hadn't had food for three days, so she packed up her bags. The home was basically empty, with her father's room all packed up and everything expensive gone. She only had a backpack when she stepped outside her home. It was the first time since she was two. Immediately, she was taken to a bunker, where she was put with several other children. The children would be placed into two groups: ones that were able to be child workers and ones that were undesirable and sent to orphanages around the country.
Violet, because she refused to work as a physical worker, had a job that nobody else had. Because of her lack of human empathy, she was listed as an assassin. Violet had never killed anybody before, but she was taught exactly what to do. She would beg for people that was against the rebellion to take her in and, after gaining their trust, kill them in their sleep. It wasn't necessarily combat-orientated, but rather manipulation and emotion oriented. Since she didn't have much social interaction beforehand, she never knew how to act. The leaders in District 13 taught her exactly what to do.
She did it for a long time, not keeping track of how many people she killed. Most of the time she killed adults, but if they had a child and it was a liability, she would kill them too. She was told that it was right for her to do that. She was praised. She didn't know any better. But she also ended up loving the job, getting all the nice clothes and toys she wanted. She wasn't smart when it came to school subjects, but when it came to finishing orders and manipulating people, she was a pro at it. She felt no guilt.
At thirteen, everybody knew that District 13 was losing and the war would be over soon. Because Violet's bosses knew that she would end up being a liability, she was unassigned from the war and thrown in a District 3 orphanage. She was able to take her clothes and what little money she made. Going from assassinating people to an orphanage was a culture shock for Violet, but she did what she was told. She was acting as innocent as possible while also pushing the rules. She still felt bloodlust, but when the games were announced, she knew that it was made for her. She isn't afraid of death either. She just wants chaos since she was practically born and bred into it.
