Levi groaned as he moved from the couch. He’d fallen asleep while “just resting for a moment.” Now, doing so was almost something of a routine. When he wasn’t working, Levi spent almost all of his remaining time at Jezelia’s apartment. There, he helped around the house and watched on as both he and Eli waited for her to wake up. The work was tiring, both physically and emotionally. He slept very little now and spent almost all his time on his feet, and coming to see an unmoving Lia who was still entirely unresponsive was incredibly disheartening to Levi.
Still, though, he’d found some form of emotional help, if it could even be called that, in Eli. Despite their rocky beginnings, Levi had come to genuinely enjoy Eli. They took Jezelia on like a pair, working together to care for her and get through the hard time. Naturally, they started a friendship during this time. It felt like a silver lining to the ugly situation.
As Levi woke, he heard noises coming from the kitchen, mainly the rustling of bags. He glanced up to the clock on the wall, its face telling him that it was probably Eli coming in for the evening with some groceries. Levi sat up and stretched before walking into the kitchen and leaning heavily against the wall as he attempted to wake up a little more.
”Hey, Eli,” he said, giving his greeting. ”Store alright and everything?” Levi’s words were half slurred from his sleep drunkenness but mostly understandable. ”Uh, Lia is, well, you know. Same as always.”
