Eli had to ask two people to leave tonight, which was amazing because it was usually a lot more than that. He stood on the outside part of the opened door, looking out into the street. It was a quiet night. Though they wouldn't be allowed to go home early, at least they could try to leave on time. Emilia was home and Eli never knew what she was doing while he was working. He'd only just find out when he gets home. Sometimes she'd stay awake until he got home and distract herself by watching television. But other times, he'd find her passed out on the couch with the television on. A man passed him and went through the door, nodding with a smile. Eli stepped away from the door, letting it close and followed the man to the bar. He went behind the counter to where Lia was tending a couple of other people. "I've got this one," he told her and walked over to the man that had just sat down. "What will it be?" he asked, not recognizing the guest as a patron who frequented the bar. Most people that came to the bar were regulars, including the woman in the middle who sat directly under the lamp light wearing a low plunging shirt that showed a lot more cleavage than he thought possible. She'd been trying to get his attention since she walked in, but Eli had tried to ignore her the best he could and asked Lia to tend to her instead. The man didn't respond to him. He only looked at Lia. Eli looked at Lia, too, one brow raised. Then he looked back at the man. "Hey, man. Are you going to order or not?" Eli wasn't usually rude to customers, but there'd been a few times when men looked at Lia and it always meant something sinister. He was sick of those kinds of guys, but it came with working in a bar, especially for women. WC: 340 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia had been pretty busy this day, taking order after order. She enjoyed it. It kept her distracted from her own thoughts and made her focus on getting the orders right. Today was no different and like usual she drank on the job to be able to handle the men's catcalls and whatever else they decided to say to her. It was exhausting, to listen to it, day after day. Men who wanted to take her home, men who wanted to F*uck her on the bardesk, men who were sleazy and absolutely disgusting but it came with the job. At least it kept her from thinking about everything else that had gone to shit. She barely looked up when Elias decided to take an order. He did that from time to time and she never really knew why. Especially not now when there were just 5 customers. They were closing soon and the customers usually respected their hours. She kept her focus on the two ladies that sat by the bar and gave them their drinks. She'd planned on going outside to take out the trash if it hadn't been for the tone Elias spoke in. Turning around she decided to look at whoever it was that was annoying him. The man's eyes were on her and it didn't take her more than a split second to remember who he was. The glass in her hand fell to the floor, shattering into pieces. She cleared her throat and immediately went to grab a broomstick to clean it up. She didn't know what to say to the man or what to do. Lia remembered the day she met him and his son. He'd been sitting on the street with his son in his arms. He hadn't been older than 4 years and was sick. It had been two weeks after the bomb fell and for two weeks she'd walked around the streets in 1 without saying a word. When she saw him, she couldn't help but do something. Knowing what it felt like to have lost everything, the last thing she had wanted was for someone else to go through the same pain. So Jezelia had talked for the first time in weeks and offered him money, a lot of it. She hadn't seen him since then but she still remembered him. It felt like her heart was tearing into pieces again. With her head bent down, not facing anyone, she dumped the pieces of glass in the trash and went out with it right away. She didn't want to cry in there and outside with the cold, sharp wind blowing, it was far too easy to let her tears fall down her cheeks. It wasn't the man that made her cry, it was the memory of when she met him and how she'd felt back then. Lia stayed outside for a few more minutes, wiped away her tears and walked back inside but not back out to the bar. Instead she went into the storage room, grabbed a bottle and began to drink from it. She almost spat it all out the moment she swallowed it. Disgusting is what it was, but it was strong. So she forced down another gulp, took a deep breath and walked back out. "I'll take this", she told Elias and shifted her attention to the man. "What can I get you?" she asked, hoping, praying that he'd give her something to do. "Whiskey. Two ice cubes", he replied as to which she nodded and began to make it. Once she was done, she grabbed a bottle of beer for herself and then leaned back on the desk behind her. "How's your son?" she asked. She really hoped that he'd made it. The man's face cracked open into a smile before he reached for his wallet to show the picture he kept in it. "He's healthy and absolutely wonderful." There he was, looking healthy and older than when she last saw him. "I'm glad he's alright", she breathed, trying to keep herself composed. She broke their eye contact and turned to Elias. "We're closing early tonight. Can you get everyone to leave? Please?" She wanted to get home as soon as possible after this.

Eli heard the glass shatter on the floor, he was about to get a broom to clean it up, but Lia had beat him to it. She was cleaning it up in a way that suggested something was wrong and he didn't want to be in the brunt of whatever she was feeling at the moment. He was about to talk to the man again when the cleavage woman grabbed his arm. "Eli, sweetie, can you make me something sweet? I'm in a the mood for some... honey," she licked her lips. Eli tried to smile, "uh. Sorry, Lia's the one who makes the fancy drinks." He turned to her, but she was already gone. His eyes darted up the door where he saw Lia's retreating figure. "I'll go see if she can make you a drink!" he said quickly, trying to make a getaway. He walked towards the door, but didn't open it. Instead he just stood there with the door closed. As long as he had known Lia and as little as they knew each other, something told him she neither needed or wanted his attention. He counted five seconds and then turned around back to the bar. He ignored the woman and went to the man, asking him if he needed a drink, but the man only shook his head and sat there. Eli heard the door open and close, and then the door to the storage room open and close. He didn't know what Lia was doing, but it was clear that the man had something to do with it. The man remained silent and Eli had no choice but to tend to the other customers. When Lia came back, she began to talk to the man. Eli didn't want to eavesdrop, but it was easy to do with the lack of usual noise in the bar since it was a slow night with fewer people than usual. After a few minutes, Lia told him to close early. They never closed early. They'd try to close on time, but there were always people he had to drag out. And by the time he got them all out and Lia had most of everything cleaned, an hour would have passed. He started to ask the patrons to leave, but the cleavage woman wouldn't budge. She was more drunk than usual, but not at all aggressive. Just more open than usual. The woman was young, in her early twenties. And naturally beautiful. Eli had thought she was perhaps the sexiest woman he'd seen in a while the first time he saw her. But she had an air about her that made her seem too desperate and lonely at the same time. He didn't want to be the one to break her heart. She was the last one to leave, it took a lot of him coaxing her to get her out the door. He began cleaning the tables and putting up the chairs and sweeping the floor. WC: 486 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia frowned a little in surprise when Elias began to ask people to leave. She thought he'd put up a fight or go on about 'Henry said this' but surprisingly enough he just went along with it. She cursed to herself, knowing that he was doing it because he saw how rattled she was from the man's visit. Shrugging it off, she rounded the bar and sat down next to the man while Elias went on with closing the place. She didn't know how long she sat there and talked but it was nice. She found out that his name was James and his son was called Leon. He'd lost his wife and a second son to the war and when she had found them they'd been on the verge of starvation. Her eyes teared up involuntarily when he told her that. He also told her that he'd been trying to find her for a long time now. "I'm here to thank you. I don't know why you did it, but you gave us a life. You saved my son and I can never thank you enough for that", James said to her, his eyes all teared up. Never in a million years had she expected this shift to turn into a cry fest with someone from her past. But she did cry and so did he and when he hugged her, she sank into his arms and completely burst into tears. Sure, she had saved him and his son years ago but now that she knew they were both alive and well, it was him saving her. She held onto him for a long time, crying into his shoulder and he let her. She didn't know why it was different with him, why she was different. Jezelia pulled back, wiping at her cheeks. "Just love him unconditionally like I know you do", she told him, a small smile on her face. James embraced her once last time before he had to go back home to Leon. She let out a heavy sigh the moment she heard the door close and rested her head on the desk, using her arm as an uncomfortable pillow. She wasn't crying as much anymore but a few tears still trickled down her face. Maybe working as a bartender hadn't been the smartest thing to do. What if everyone she'd helped found their way to the bar someday. She'd be a mess and that was something she wanted to keep behind closed doors.

Eli tried to focus on cleaning up, but from time to time he'd hear parts of their conversation. He turned on the music that had stopped on the last track to something mellow and then continued on with his work. He went to the counter and began to clear and clean things there after he was done with the rest of a bar. He finished faster than he meant to, so he went to the back and washed the dishes. Then prepared everything they needed for the next day. By the time he was done in the stockroom, the man was no longer there. Lia sat at the bar, her head leaning against it. From behind, she looked to be sleeping. He walked slowly to her until he was in front of her. "Everything's done." He looked at the fresh tears on her face, her eyes red. He'd never seen her cry. She always looked so tough, it was odd, seeing this other side of her he'd never seen before. Eli sat down on the stool next to her and pulled out a square piece of cloth. The last one he had, he'd wrapped around her bloody hand. The music stopped. The quiet around them settled. He didn't know what to say to her. What does one usually say to a crying woman? He didn't want her to get upset at him, but he also didn't want her to cry even more. So instead he sat there in the quiet with her. WC: 256 Tag: Jezelia Lennox

Lia had managed to forget about Elias completely, that was until he spoke. He startled her but she didn't really bother to look up at him or to move from her place. She needed a minute or two before she did anything other than stare at nothing. She tried to wrap her head around what'd just happened and why it had affected her so much. There were some explanations but with every explanation another followed so it was safe to say that it left her even confused after some thinking. She began to wipe at her tears and grabbed a paper towel to blow her nose. She had a guess that she looked as bad as she felt. She sighed a little before turning to look at Elias. "So no questions?" she asked, a bit shocked really. He was one to mind his own business unless it was about getting her home safe, yet somehow she'd expected a question or two about what had happened. She shrugged to herself, sniffled a little, then continued to drink on her beer.

He watched her try to pull herself together. They'd been working together for almost seven months now and this was really the first time he'd ever seen her cry or just be emotional. Eli didn't know much about her. Like him, she was secretive about her life. They tried to stay out of each other's personal space. It wasn't that he didn't want to get to know her. She seemed like a nice enough person, on some days. But he worried that if he got to know her, she'd want to get to know him. And he was someone he didn't want her to know. He had too much in his past for her to be able to look over, no matter what he tried to do now or how good he thought he was doing. He shrugged in his stool, crossing his arms. "I caught some of the conversation. Sorry. It was hard not to hear. It sounded like you saved his son?" He wondered how that all came about, how she'd been able to save someone. "So what happened? Did you know them before you saved his son?" WC: 191 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia scowled. Not because he'd overheard the conversation but because she was struggling. She didn't know what to tell him. If meeting James had taught her anything, it was that it wasn't so bad to have someone to talk to. Her head always won the battle with her heart though and this time was no exception. So she ended up shrugging. "I didn't know them. They just happened to need money. His son was sick so I gave him the money to go buy medicine. I had some savings and I don't know... I just gave it to to them instead." Lia wasn't lying at all when she told this to Elias but there were some minor details that she'd left out. It wasn't her savings that she gave them, it was some of her inheritance. She also left out the fact that she'd given them enough money to buy way more than just medicine. Or that they weren't the only ones that she'd helped financially. Sighing a little, she turned back her attention to her bottle of beer and chugged it all before putting it down on the desk with a thud. "I'm going home. See ya." She didn't wait for him to answer her, she just went back and grabbed her jacket and bag and went straight for the exit. She didn't want to be around him like this. She didn't want to be around anyone from here while being the girl she'd been two years ago. The problem was that she couldn't say that out loud, which tended to complicate things.

He supposed it wasn't too surprising that Lia would do something like that. But her savings? How was that even possible during a war, not to mention her poverty. Or at least it would seem like it, considering she worked at a bar in the poor side of the district. Then again, he himself worked at a poor side of the district even when he didn't even need to work at all. He could actually live his entire life without working for all the money The Capitol gave him. But he had his reasons. Perhaps Lia had her reasons too. "That was a nice thing you did," Eli said. "Not many people would have done something like that." Eli watched her get her jacket, it seemed she was done with the conversation, but Eli wanted to know more. He shouldn't try to get to know her, but at this moment, it was all he wanted. He followed her out the door, making sure it was locked. "Where did you work before you started working here?" He asked. Either she had a really good job to make enough money to actually have a savings, or the money was given to her. He wasn't going to outright ask, he knew she'd just run away if he did. This was a question that never really came up for them, even though it was part of the small talk routine that most people go through. The only person that had ever asked him that was Henry and his response was 'here and there'. Not many people would recognize him unless they came from The Capitol or from his past. It was one of the good things about living in District 1. People from his past were too poor to live in it, and people from The Capitol stayed in The Capitol. Lia shrugged once again. " I didn't need them. At once point I realized that there was no point in saving money when I could be dead the next day", she told him. It sounded like a good answer and maybe deep down she'd resonated like that. She didn't really remember much, other than the 'F*uck it' that she'd thought before deciding to help them. All of her money couldn't have gotten her what she'd wanted anyways. The moment she was out in the open, she took out a cigarette and lit it. When she heard Elias follow, all she could do was roll her eyes to herself. She would've thought that it was pretty obvious that she wasn't in the mood to talk but somehow it didn't get through to him. Lia turned and looked at him. "Nowhere", she answered him. She kept walking, paying most of her attention to the cigarette between her thumb and index finger. She held the it to her lips, taking a drag. Sparks of ash began to fall to the ground within moments. She didn't care much if it bothered him, whether it was the smell or the smoke. Lia inhaled a bit of the smoke and held it in her lungs for a moment, then blew the smoke out letting the wisps be taken by the wind, but leaving the pungent odor around. "And you?" Lia asked him after a while.

She was right, of course. There was no point in money or any material object. War was war and in war, people died. Eli survived, though. So did Lia. So did Emilia. So did Henry. So did the people he saved at The Capitol. But others died. Emilia's mother. The people marked by his bullets. Mothers. Fathers. Brothers. Sisters. Children. Grandparents. There was so much during the war that life now was 'valued'. As The Capitol said in their speech after the war. People were valued now. People were special now. Because how can you run a country with no people? "Nowhere?" He repeated. So the money, the savings, it hadn't come from her directly. Eli wanted to ask her all the questions that would make her run. So instead, he kept his mouth shut. He walked to the other side of her, the side where the wind blew away from, to keep the smoke from hitting his face. He smelled like cigarettes and liquor from the bar, but he didn't like smelling it either ways. He didn't want the smoke to kill him, he had someone to live for. He walked a few steps, allowing the question to settle between them. It was something he never wanted to talk about. Which part of his past was his greatest shame? Which part of his past did he regret? He took a breath, "My parents had very high expectations of me. And me being me, well, I ran away. The thing is, when you run away, you have nothing." Eli thought about the many ways that things could have been different. In the silence that fell between them, he found options that were never presented to him when he was younger. He could have stayed. He could have stayed... "I sold my body." It was true, in all aspects. He sold his body for its skill in killing and for sex. "It's not something I'm proud of, but at the time, it was the only thing I had that held value to others." WC: 343 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia listened to his words, taking all of it in. She looked at him but no words came out of her mouth. She wasn't judging him, it was more her being somewhat shocked to hear it. She'd never expected him to answer her question and definitely not truthfully. She didn't want to think about how bad it must have been for him to reach that point where nothing but himself would suffice. She could've been doing just that after her family died if it hadn't been for their wealth. Lia wondered how broken she would've been if that had been the case. She couldn't possibly imagine selling herself, letting everyone touch her and take advantage of her even though she got money in return. "I'm sorry", was all she found herself capable of saying. She really was sorry, for whatever he'd gone through. She wanted to think that she wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy but after a moment of thought she realized that she in fact would. The ones responsible for her family's death, she'd wished the worst for them. She wished that they would somehow reach the very bottom where they had to suffer and go through all things possible, anything, just anything to pay for the misery and the lives they'd taken. But those thoughts were dangerous and no matter how strongly she felt about it, it would never be something that she could utter out loud or it would probably be her life that would be taken next.

They pass the corner where they'd parted ways a few nights ago. The night Emilia walked all the way to him from their home in the upper east side. He let her lead the way, only following her without really thinking of where they were going. He shrugged, "It was my decision, though probably a bad one. I was a dumb kid." Although, if he could turn back the time and change his decisions, he doubted he would. All the choices he'd made had lead him to this moment. Would Emilia still exist without him? Was an Emilia without a mother better than an Emilia that never existed at all? "Sometimes I wonder what happened to my parents and my siblings. I had seven of them. Or have. I don't know, to be honest," he sighed. He'd often wondered what happened to them. He didn't hate his parents or his siblings. He just wanted a life of his own without choosing sides. And somehow, he ended up exactly in the position he didn't want. What a cruel joke. "What about you? You have any family?" WC: 186 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia frowned a little. She didn't really know what to say to that. She was still sorry though, because no one would make that choice in their right mind unless they were desperate. What he said next though made her stop dead in her tracks. She even dropped her cigarette, but not because of what he said. She'd forgotten about it and it ended up burning her fingers. She winced a little and put her index finger to her mouth, sucking at it to ease the pain. "Shit", she mumbled before waving it at her side, letting the cool air soothe the burning feeling. She didn't know why but the fact that he had family but didn't bother to find out if they were alive or not slightly angered her. "Why don't you go find out then? They're your family." She would've done anything for the smallest possibility of having her family alive and he just didn't seem to care. When he proceeded to ask her about who she had, she merely just shook her head. "I don't want to talk about it." She left it at that and continued walking, heading for a bar she knew was still open.

He watched her drop the cigarette, smiling a little. "Those things will kill you," he said. It was something an old man kept saying to him when he smoked all those years ago. He hesitated for a bit, his foot stopping in its tracks, before continuing on. He shook his head, "You know. All these years and I never really thought about finding them." He laughed at that for a while, the sound of his laughter was louder than everyone's voice in the street. After a while, he wiped a small tear from the corner of his eye. "Nah. I can't do that. They're people who believe in one chance. Once you leave, you leave. My leaving was a betrayal to them. As is the rest of my life. There's no going back." Eli let the silence fall again before speaking. "My family believed that blood tied them together. Not me. I choose my family. And I chose Emilia." They walked on longer in the dark street, the lamp lights becoming dimmer and the number of people staggering until it was just the two of them. He could understand why she wouldn't talk about her family. Hers perhaps wasn't as clean cut as his. Maybe hers wasn't even a choice. Usually, one of the main reasons why people didn't want to talk about their family was because they had none to talk about anymore. "Sorry if I'm prying, I don't mean to be," he said, though he knew that was a lie. But he let it go, he didn't need to know more about her. He couldn't. He had to keep his distance. Though he realized now that he probably shouldn't have told her anything about his family, no matter how little they meant to him. WC: 297 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia stopped this time. She understood that everyone had their own relationship with their family but it hurt so much to see someone have the opportunity to have theirs back and pretty much laugh it away. " I don't believe that. When it comes down to it, no matter the differences, there will always be forgiveness. Especially after everything everyone's been through." Her voice trailed off and she looked away, picking up the pace to avoid looking at him. It was so strange, surreal even, how he just didn't care. She'd do anything, literally anything to have her family back but it wasn't even a possibility for her. It became too much and for the second time that night, she felt her eyes well up with tears. "You're a fool for not realizing how blessed you are to at least have the smallest chance of your family being alive." Lia wiped at the few tears that trickled down her cheeks, truly not caring about the show of emotions or that she was telling him things she'd never intended on telling anyone. She was certain that he'd know now that her family was dead but for some strange reason she couldn't care less. She didn't care because he the hole inside of her grew no matter if she distanced herself from her past or if she embraced it. She didn't feel any better now compared to three years ago, the grief and the pain was still there. The worst part was the hollow aching inside of her, that reminded her every day, whether she was sober or not, of the part that she was missing. She was missing her source of love and joy and purpose. Jezelia looked at Elias. Looking back at this day, she'd find herself wondering why the hell she did what she did but in that very moment she was beyond rational thinking. She'd been trying to think rationally for years, thinking that it was the only way to feel better. That was why was she did next was irrational and not thought through at all. She closed the gap between them and grabbed onto the collar of his jacket before crashing her lips onto his. She didn't know why she did it, she just needed to feel something other than grief and the emptiness within. So she kissed him deeply, breathing in both him and the kiss and for a moment, just the slightest moment, she managed to forget about the pain.

Eli didn't want to argue with her. It was just a difference of beliefs, though he knew he was right. He knew his family, she didn't. They were rebels and The Capitol paid him to work for them, to kill rebels, to kill people like his family. He was good at his job. He was good at killing. He wondered if Lia could understand that. Could she forgive him if she knew all the horrible things he'd done? His family couldn't, he knew they couldn't. In this story, he was the villain. "Maybe I am a fool," was all he said. He stopped a foot away and turned to look at her. His brows furrowed, had he made her cry? He saw her face change, tears welling up in her eyes until one fell. Shit. He made her cry. He took out the cloth from his pocket and was about to hand it to her when walked quickly to him. He was pulled down by the collars of his jacket and their lips met. It was a dark, painful, desperate kiss that came from pain. The kind of pain that you can't erase with booze or sex or drugs. You only get momentary releases until it comes back and you need your next fix before you lose it again. One hand wrapped around to the small of her back, his other hand cupped her face. She needed this and he couldn't deny her of a simple kiss. He wouldn't complicate it. He couldn't. But it hurt. From the moment he'd met her, he knew he couldn't have her. She was beyond his reach no matter where he lived or how much money he had. She was beyond it all and he knew that. He would never be good enough for someone like her who held her head up high and her heart guarded. So he never made a move. It would only end in heartbreak for him. He always did want what he couldn't have. The farther it was from his grasp, the more he wanted it. He allowed himself to feel the ache of never having her. He kissed her deeper, pulling her closer to him. She could never be in his life, not like that, not like anything. She'd peel away every layer of him with things she hated and in the end, she'd loathe him. He didn't pull away, not until she was ready. WC: 408 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

The moments the kiss lasted, Lia allowed herself to stop thinking about everything. She shoved it all away to the back of her brain in a corner that she couldn't access and focused on what was happening at the very moment. She'd never expected him to pull her closer, let alone kiss her back yet when he did she found herself forgetting more and more, even if it would only last for seconds. They might not have known each other all to well but she could tell that she wasn't the only one in pain and for some reason it seemed like he needed it just as much as she did. So she didn't let go, deepening the kiss instead until she had to gasp for air. When she pulled back she still stayed close to him, her body pressed against his, now with her forehead resting on his shoulder. She didn't know why, but she found herself resting her hands on his hips. The saddest part of it all was that she didn't feel anything for him, he just happened to be someone that she talked to on a daily basis. Realizing how wrong it was of her, no matter where he stood in this, she pulled back and created the smallest of distance between them. Lia knew that things might not be the same between them from now on but in that moment she couldn't find it within herself to regret what she'd done. God knows she needed it. Looking into his eyes, she couldn't help but wonder why he hadn't pushed her away the moment her lips met his. But then again, she knew how men acted and for them it never really meant anything. She truly hoped that this time because then they'd be on the same page. What she wanted to say was thank you, but what she ended up saying was "You're not that bad of a kisser." She did sound a little surprised without really knowing why. With his looks, she figured he's had a lot of experience but the intensity of that kiss... She shook her head a little to herself. For some reason she wanted more but she couldn't get herself to ask it from him. Or could she? It would have been different if they didn't work with each other and the last thing she wanted was for things to get awkward at work.

He knew it wasn't serious, it was one of those things that just happened. Although he didn't have to sell his body now, he still had sex with women. They didn't have to pay him, he did it for pleasure only. And it was always with women he barely knew and women who didn't want to be in relationships. Relationships complicated things. He wasn't ready for that. He knew he never would be. Not with his past and not while he still had Emilia to take care of. He held her close to him, this would be the closest they could ever be. Eli leaned his chin on the top of her head. She smelled of cigarettes, liquor, and something more pleasing. Perhaps her shampoo. He couldn't place it. And then she pulled away just slightly and spoke. Eli smirked before increasing the distance between them. He took another step backwards, freeing both of them from each others grasps. Eli tucked his hands inside his pockets. If being this close to her could make his heart hurt like this, what would loving her with all the pieces of his broken heart feel like? He didn't want to know. "Emilia's waiting for me," he said clearing the air between them of whatever lust could transpire in the moments they didn't speak. He didn't want to leave, but he knew he had to. It was the right thing to do, for the both of them. He didn't want her to regret this and he wasn't sure if he was strong enough to stop her if she acted. "Good night." He said finally, forcing himself to say the words. Eli didn't ask if she needed him to walk her to her door. He knew her home was close, there were only two streets left until they reached a dead end. He needed air, he needed clarity. Because at this moment, he had neither. His lungs were constricting with the air she had taken from him. His mind was foggy with lust that he knew he couldn't act on. WC: 350 TAG: Jezelia Lennox

Lia smiled a little at the sight of him smirking. Every facial expression that wasn't his regular brooding one was welcomed, made her think of him as an actual person. When he created some more distance between them she couldn't help but feel the emptiness return, slowly as if it was creeping up on her, ready to claw her back into the pit it always held her in. It scared her this time because now she knew, even though it was just seconds, what it felt like to be without it. Jezelia frowned a little when he abruptly brought up Emilia in the conversation and then began to walk away in a different direction. She could tell that something was wrong and despite the fact that every rational part of her told her to go home and let it go, she decided that this still wasn't the night to be rational. Before she knew it she blurted out "wait", before picking up her pace until she was right next to him. Lia grabbed his arm and placed herself in front of him. "Don't go." Her eyes met his in a plea, though she couldn't tell if it was desperate or something else. All she knew was that she didn't want to be alone. For the first time in a long time, she couldn't handle the loneliness and he was the only one she could turn to.
