It was a warm summer night, perfect in that the air still had the smallest brush with crispness. It was a Friday, too, the end of a hard week's work. This time, it had been for a wedding in the Capitol. Two prominent families were combining in one of the most expensive affairs that Panem had ever seen, so of course, the whole thing had to be coated in diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires - anything the shop could pull from the ground, really - to commemorate the occasion. Levi's hands felt cramped from constantly holding either a sketching pencil or jewelry pliers. Ultimately, though, the bill the happy couple footed was far more than enough to allow for a nice reward. Thus, Levi gave himself that in a venture into the District for the night. Since the war, Levi kept mainly to the unaffected wealthy regions. The slums, by comparison, had been the grounds of what fighting there was. The people that lost everything hailed from that place, so traveling there in general seemed like a bad idea. Time had passed, though. Surely those people living there had begun to move on and left a more safe region of the District. Besides, Levi was insanely curious as to what it was like there, especially because he hadn't seen it in what felt like ages. Quickly, his destination became a bar whose name he'd heard thrown around before. It would be enough to satisfy his curiosity and his thirst. Levi walked there quickly, not fully taking in his surroundings. What he saw felt wrong. Dark, abandoned places and shells of buildings, people with wide and dark eyes and grim faces. He hurried on to his destination, reaching it much faster than he planned. Once inside, he breathed a sigh of relief. There were few others in the bar despite the time of night. Back at home, the bar nearest to his house would be nearly full at the hour. He decided that the privacy would be a good change, at least for the night, and promptly took a seat at the mostly empty bar and waited for the bartender to arrive. Words: 370 Tags:Jezelia Lennox

It was Lia's first day back after a few days off. She was working with one of the new bartenders today, seeing that the amount of customers was a lot less than it usually was. He was quite useless and not good for anything but she didn't care enough to yell at him. She still wondered about the situation with Elias and what to do with it but for the time being she ignored it and pushed it to the back of her head. The small buzz that alcohol provided also helped ease her thoughts and it was far too welcome this time. She sighed a little to herself and put down the rack of bottles on the floor in the storage room before heading back out to the bar. Lia wasn't paying enough attention to see the new customer that was now sitting there. It wasn't until she uncapped a bottle of beer and looked up while taking a sip from it that she stopped midway, finding herself staring at him. "Levi", she breathed and put down the bottle on the desk. For a minute she just stood there, staring at him, wondering what had brought him here, how he'd been, how he was... The flood of emotions and memories that he brought back was so immense that for a moment, she just wanted to round the bar and hug him tight. But she couldn't. Not after what she'd done to him. Jezelia took a deep breath, trying to brace herself. "What can I get you?"

Levi sat and drummed his fingers on the counter, wondering for a moment if coming to the bar had been a mistake. This wasn’t his place, after all. What did he know about the poor area of District 1? At best he’d feel uncomfortable all evening and at worst he’d get mugged. Stupid, he thought, I’m so stupid for coming here. Levi promptly decided to move on from the mistake and head home, maybe hitting up a bar in his part of town on the way back. He heard the footsteps of the bartender approaching. He’d just stand up, say he was waiting on a friend and went to the wrong bar and leave after a convincing smile. Instead, he looked up to see something else entirely. Jezelia practically looked like a ghost. A number of reactions ran through Levi simultaneously. His heart stopped for a moment and then beat erratically. He couldn’t breathe. His whole body felt like it was about to bust out from behind his skin and bones. Jezelia, a ghost from years ago. A reminder of the war. For a moment, all Levi could see was the memory. —— It was a cold winter day. The ground was coated in inches of freshly fallen snow and more gently fell from the sky, coating the buildings and trees with a gleam. The sun shone down on it all brightly. Overall, it was a beautiful day. A Sunday. Workers were away from their jobs, their children playing in the streets, enamored with the wonderland that came again and again during each season. Levi felt fascinated with it, too. This time, it felt especially magical with Lia by his side. They were both wrapped in their warmest coats and hats, walking side by side and hand in hand down the road. It was the Lennox family’s day downtown, shopping at some of the smaller stores. They were headed back home, bags in hand, ready to eat the dinner that had been cooking at home. That’s when the bombs fell. Three in a row, Levi later found out, straight down the center of the Main Street. Later, the Capitol claimed it was putting down rebels in the area, snuffing out any resistance that was left in District 1. Who they really hit, though, were children playing in the snow, shoppers enjoying a weekend with their families. One fell a block away from Levi and the Lennoxes. The explosions were in such fast repetition that by the time Levi understood what was happening, it was far too late. The sound was deafening, so loud that it overtook the blackness that fell over him. Levi came to eventually. His body resisted any movement with sharp stings of pain that burnt straight through him. The next thing he noticed was Lia’s guttural screams, sounding more animal than human. He forced himself to push himself to a sitting position through the pain. The first thing Levi noticed was the snow. Earlier, the snow had been a perfect, pure white. Now, the whole scene was tainted with various colors. Black and gray from the soot of the explosion and the busted road and fallen structures. Most notably, though, the bright crimson of the blood of all the heaps that Levi realized were bodies overshadowed everything around them. Immediately behind him, Levi saw something that wrenched through his chest. Davina. Arabella. Winston. They had been right behind Lia and Levi, struck by shrapnel and bleeding out. Levi tried to stand and cried out in pain. He needed to see if they were alive, to check for signs of life. Levi forced himself to a standing position, ignoring the shooting pain in his calf. He stumbled over to the bodies, falling to the ground before them. Levi shoved his head against their chests, already feeling colder and stiff. Levi shook each of them, pleading in his mind that one of them would be alive. Instead, they were - much like all the others on the streets - corpses. Levi drug himself to Arabella. Fresh tears fell down his cheeks, mixing with the soot and blood there. ”We have to go,” he pleaded, ”Please, Lia, they might come back.” The sounds of the bombers sounded overhead. More bombs could fall at any second. Lia continued to scream, lost in her shock and horror. With a heave, Levi bent down and picked her up, gathering her into his arms and fleeing the street as quickly as possible on his hurt leg. Each step burned, but each step was one closer to safety and one farther away from the massacre in the streets. Levi wanted to whisper that everything would be okay. Instead, the only promise he could offer was contained in pressing Lia as close to him, feeling her heartbeat and hearing her breath. For then, it had to be enough. —— After the bombing, Levi hadn’t seen Lia. She disappeared that night. Levi spent all his time looking for her. Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months. Once in a while, he caught word of her. She was alive, they told him. She was roaming the District. She wasn’t coming back. Levi had to do with what he was given. That didn’t mean that the whole day hadn’t ripped a massive hole in his heart that hadn’t been filled since. Levi still woke up in the middle of the night, jumping up from bed in a cold sweat from horrific nightmares. It also didn’t mean that how much he missed Lia wasn’t physical. Most of the time, it felt like he was missing an actual part of himself. The pain made him feel like that, anyway. Now, three years later, she was standing before him. It felt surreal. Three years of separation pulled apart his mind as he stared up at her completely dumbstruck. What was there to say except everything on Earth? ”Lia… is that actually you?” he whispered. Levi stood from his stool, ignoring the handful of other people scattered throughout the bar. He reach out, catching her by the wrist. Lia now felt real, felt physical. For the past three years, she’d been a painfully fading memory. Sometimes, Levi couldn’t remember the exact way her hair fell across her face or the way her eyes gleamed when she was happy. Once, he woke from a dream and couldn’t remember the sound of her voice. But now, all that was here, right before him. It was like no time at all had passed. Words: 1189 Tags: Jezelia Lennox

Lia watched him, her breath caught in her throat. She hadn't seen him since the day of the bombings. The last time she'd seen him, her family had been alive and happy and then they were gone. All it took were seconds and then everything had changed. Seeing him in front of her was all kinds of bad. It was the kind of bad that made her shut people out, the kind that would make her lost in her own head for minutes, the kind that sometimes led to painful decisions that she ended up regretting once realizing what she had done. She wanted to cry, to scream, to drink. She wanted to do anything but stand there while knowing that there was no hiding from any of it, not while she was working. So Lia did the hardest thing possible and tried to push all of it away. It was the only choice she had if she wanted to keep her job. Her head shot up when he touched her wrist. Whatever thoughts she had on being as friendly as she could, vanished out of the window. She pulled back her wrist, paying the price that came with trying to keep herself together. She couldn't let him touch her and she didn't have it in her to take a trip down memory lane. She always ended up in a bad place and she couldn't go there tonight. Every rational part of her mind screamed at her to treat him like anyone else who tried to get to close, but seeing the look on his face... Lia had to look away for a moment. She ignored the beer she'd just uncapped and went for the stronger stuff. She didn't even put it in a shot glass, instead she found herself pouring it in a regular glass, filling half of it up before chugging the whole thing down. Her heart was racing and whatever difficulties she'd thought she had in the past when it came to breathing, were definitely put to the test now. It felt like the walls were closing in on her and no matter how hard she shut her eyes, she could still see the space get smaller and smaller. It broke her down, piece by piece until she found herself at her breaking point. The bottle fell to the floor, shattering into small pieces with the liquor pooling on the floor. Other than the music, not a single sound was heard. Lia didn't dare to look around just yet, knowing that a dozen pair of eyes would be watching her. It took her a moment or two before she finally had the courage to turn around, looking as unaffected as she possibly could. "I'm sorry guys. I have to call it a night now." Lia didn't wait to hear people's complaints, she began to usher them out immediately. Luckily, there were only two people complaining, the others were regulars who respected her. She even kicked out the new bartender, all in less than five minutes. Locking up, she turned around to see that Levi was the only one left. She didn't approach him, staying by the door. "Why are you here?" she whispered, her voice shaking. It wasn't until now that she realized what a bad idea it was to kick everyone out. At least she'd been able to hind behind the fact that others were there and she couldn't lose her face with customers inside. Now she found herself feeling exposed and fragile, as if the smallest gust of wind could break her into pieces. Maybe Levi was that gust of wind, there to break her down. God knew she deserved it.

Really, there was no way to guess how Lia would have reacted. Years ago, Levi wouldn’t have guessed that she would have ran away after the bombing and fled from her past life ever since. Knowing that, even, it still stung when she pulled away. Part of Levi hoped that if he ever saw her again, she would be happy to see him, at least even a little bit. He didn’t expect her to come running into his arms and act like nothing had ever happened - of course he didn’t. He’d still expected more than this, somehow, and the disappointment wasn’t easy to swallow. Levi took a single step back. Lia turned away, went for the counter in the back, reach for the liquor. Levi sat down onto the stool once again, feeling defeated. The pain she was feeling - that she was trying to drown with each drink.- was tangible. And when she dropped that bottle, Levi found something relatable to his heart in the way the shattered glass coated the floor. He stayed. When Lia banished everyone else, Levi stayed glued to the seat, staring intently at Lia’s back. The other customers and workers gave him confused, questioning looks, but ultimately asked no questions and left him there. Eventually, the whole bar had filtered out onto the streets, perhaps in search of another drink or a way back home. Levi, however, couldn’t have moved even if he wanted to. At last, he’d found Lia, and he couldn’t just leave her now. Her cold distance, her lack of responsiveness, her new battered down demeanor, they all hurt him, cutting deep. It made the damage that was done during the bombing feel irreparable. Levi couldn’t give up now. As long as there was a chance he could get through to Lia, he had to stay and try. He turned around in his stool, not wanting to look threatening by approaching her. ”Honestly? By chance. I had no idea if you were here.” Levi paused for a moment, laughed despite himself. ”If I would’ve known, I would’ve stopped by a lot sooner than this. Believe me.” He didn’t need to elaborate. Levi was positive she knew what lengths he’d gone to find her. When they were together, he looked at her like she hung the sun in the sky. Lia had to know that he fought with all he had to keep that sun from going out. ”It’s good to see you,” he said, a vast understatement. In fact, it was the most relieving and hurtful and scary thing that had happened since she left. ”I just… can’t believe it’s you.” There, in the flesh. Standing by the door. Living, breathing, existing, just as she’d done for the past three years, but this time while Levi could see her, and that’s what made all the difference. Words: 503 Tags: Jezelia Lennox

Lia repeatedly shook her head when he began to explain why he was there. She didn't want him there. She didn't want what came with it nor did she want to hear the pain in his voice. She didn't want any of it. She'd left everything to forget what had happened and with him standing right in front of her, how in the world was she going to forget? How could she suppress the memories of her family's burnt bodies and the grief that had nearly killed her? How could she forget the hole inside her, that longed for her family and the way things had been? Shaking her head had been a mistake, as the alcohol she'd recently drank began to make itself known. Her head began to spin and for a moment her thoughts were all over the place. She raised her arm to her head, trying to make the spinning stop. "No. You can't just show up out of nowhere. You can't-" She began to shake her head again, this time to keep her eyes from watering and tears to spring. The floor beneath her felt wobbly all of a sudden, leaving her no choice but to sit down by the nearest table. She looked back at Levi, feeling her anger rise. She knew she was misdirecting it. He wasn't the one she was angry with. She was angry with the world for making her become who she was. She was angry with herself, for pushing him away, for not seeking help, for being... Well, being herself. "It's me. I'm here. I'm alive. Now go. Go and leave me alone", she shouted at him. Had there been a glass in her hand, she would've thrown it at the wall but there was nothing. There was nothing but the anger inside of her and the pain and sorrow that he brought back. Seconds was all she needed before bursting into tears, sobbing uncontrollably with her forehead now resting on the table. Seeing him again made her miss him and hate him and the worst part of it all was that she couldn't find it in herself to tell him.

Jezelia was falling apart right before Levi. Before that night, he hadn’t realized how little people could be chopped down to. When they dated, she had been so calm and collected, so cool. Where had that Lia gone? His Jezelia had been replaced with a stranger. An impostor. No, Levi reminded himself just a shattered one. Just a broken version of what she used to be, like an old record that was so warped and scratched that it didn’t even sound like a song anymore. Making decisions was the hardest part. She shouted at him to go. Jezelia’s words said that she didn’t want Levi there. For a moment, he submitted to those thoughts. But how could he ignore those three open ended years. Levi couldn’t count the nights he lay awake wondering what happened to her. It felt selfish but he couldn’t walk away. It should have been enough to see her alive and to know that she was safe. Levi couldn’t content himself with that, though. He allowed himself to stand slowly and approach her. Jezelia was fuming. Her face, though mostly unfamiliar now, showed the very recognizable expression of unchecked rage. Levi knew he risked her anger with every word he said and every step he took. That wasn’t enough to make him stop. Once he was closer to her, still giving her enough space to not be suffocating, Levi spoke. ”That’s not enough,” he admitted in a whisper sounding far weaker than he planned. ”That’s not all that matters to me,” he added, ”there’s so much else to know.”Levi gnawed on the inside of his lip, forcing his gaze downwards. He hadn’t planned for this pain today. ”There are so many other things, Lia - I don’t know anything about you now. I don’t know where you’re living or what your room looks like or how you ended up here. I couldn’t even guess if your favorite color is still blue. How will I know any of this if I leave?” He leaned back, letting the wall catch his weight. Levi sighed, rested his forehead in his hand for a moment as he tried to gather the strength to look upwards. ”I can’t just leave you alone, don’t you see?”Words: 410 Tags: Jezelia Lennox

Lia didn't want to look up at him when he spoke to her. He was too close now. Both emotionally and physically and it hurt her so much more than she could've ever imagined. Her head began to throb, though that had nothing to do with him. At least not directly. She hated it and she loved it, the pain that alcohol seemed to bring, making it a lot easier to get distracted. For the time being, she liked distractions. Anything to keep her from her past. His voice was like a drug, whispering, pulling at her to look up. When she did, there was no hiding all the emotions that she felt. It all showed on her face, like an open book. Her tears wouldn't stop running down her face and as she took in all of his words, her heart grew even heavier. She couldn't help the halfhearted laugh that followed. "Blue..." Lia shook her head again, this time to herself. At one point, despite her young age, she'd thought that Levi would be her high school sweetheart that she ended up marrying. At one point, she'd loved him, thought of him as family. That was until her actual family got murdered and she realized that there was no such thing. There was no such thing as family without her parents and her sweet little sister and the thought broke her. It broke her that she'd caused him so much pain when she'd loved him at one point. Now she couldn't distinguish love from hate, memories from reality and he... Well, he just seemed unscathed. Not in the sense that her actions hadn't hurt him, but to her it felt like he thought things could go back to the things they were. Wiping at her tears with the back of her hand, she finally took a deep breath. "I don't know Le. I don't know if my favorite color is still blue. I don't know who I am or what I'm living for. All I know is that they're dead and things can never go back to the way they were." She hadn't cared when she yelled at him, yet this time she felt bad when it all came out sounding a bit too harsh. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him all over again, but she didn't want... Lia stopped for a moment, trying to understand what was so bad about him being there. Levi meant that she wouldn't have to be alone anymore. He was safe and if she'd loved him before, maybe her love was just dormant? For a moment, she just blanked out, staring into thin air as she tried to understand her own web of thoughts. She'd be lying if she said that she didn't miss having someone to confide in. But at the same time, letting Levi into her life would mean that she had to deal with her past and she didn't know if she was ready for that. When her hand reached out for his, she stopped thinking. Maybe that was all it took. She just knew that with everything that he'd brought upon her when entering the bar, she needed some comforting. So when she stood up and finally embraced him, she didn't feel bad about it. She didn't really know what she felt at all.

Levi listened carefully to each of Jezelia’s words. He tried desperately to read any sign that she might be giving him. Among them, there could be any single thread of an idea that might help him help her. However, he found none. Even as he looked straight into her eyes, trying to see into the depths of her soul, all he could see was that damned block after it had been charred by the bomb. A single tear flowed down Levi’s right cheek. He didn’t bother to wipe it away. ”Things can never go back to the way they were,” he repeated. He knew that. He’d known it all along, in fact. ”I never imagined that they could, Lia. But that doesn’t mean that things can never go at all.” The pain of her absence was there again, the cavity in his chest a distinct feeling. A second tear followed the first, and then there was another. ”They rebuilt, did you know that? They cleared out the rubble and the bodies and washed off the soot and blood and now there are buildings and shops there again. Every year, people walk by that spot in hordes to remember. They never forgot, but they continued.”He’d been there for the past two years. Most of the residents of District 1 were too concerned that any major act of remembrance would result in some anger for the Capitol, so any play at that was subtle and generally action-less. But he’d seen the area. Women quietly sang songs as they walked down the block. They whispered their prayers. Levi sat on a bench, looking at the very spot in the road where his body had lain. His eyes drifted to where the Lennoxes laid, too. Jezelia, the world keeps spinning. It felt like mine didn’t. Everyone else watched the sun rise and set without blinking because their world didn’t change. I realized that it doesn’t matter how much you grieve or rage or break. Panem doesn’t care. So that’s why you build yourself back up and keep watching for that Sun. I hoped and hoped that one day it would come up again and it just did for me.”Words: 389 Tags: Jezelia Lennox

Elias had quit working at the bar weeks ago. It had been so many things, one leading right to the next. A series of events that lead him to where he was now. Everything had changed that night he tried to take Lia home and Emilia had broken the rules and tried to find him. He slept with Lia. He saved and took Aria home. He went to the concert where things went wrong. He went out with Aria. The bookstore explosion. He felt something for them, but he knew he couldn't feel for both at the same time. Lia was a friend that he'd slept with, someone he had feelings for, but could never be with. They were both too damaged to even repair each other. They were the same, he and Lia. Two magnets that repelled each other, and yet refused to stay away. Dancing around each other, causing mayhem. Then there was Aria, someone he was deeply attracted to. She was the opposite. They were magnets pulling closer together. She was soft where he was rough. She was daylight in the dark corners of his mind. It was new to him, liking someone so easily. It was like one of those things that were too good to be true and he was just waiting for it all to fall down on him. Henry had told him he could have his job back anytime he wanted. They still needed someone to keep the peace when things got rowdy. Even though Lia could hold her own, he knew how bad it could get. And they were okay, he and Lia. It was a friendly, but awkward. There was a tension between them that they both could feel. Something pulling and pushing at the same time. Something building and breaking all at once. Chaos hovered between them. He walked straight to the bar where Lia was tending to a customer he'd never seen. He wasn't sure if he was going to take the job back. Seeing Lia almost every night might be weird, especially now since he was seeing Aria more. She kept him grounded, made him gentle. And yet... "Missed me?" he sat at the bar and gave Lia a smile. It was then that he saw there was something wrong. He looked at her and then the only other guy at the bar. He stood up, his muscles tensing. "What's going on here? Is this guy bothering you?" his voice got deeper, his hands turning to fists as he closed the space between him and the guy, ready to throw him out of the bar. WC: 444 TAG: Jezelia Lennox Levi Nors

Lia listened to what he said, taking it in but at the same time not fully understanding it. Her world had stopped spinning a long time ago. Things happened on routine. She woke up late during the day, went to work, worked late, got herself drunk and then went back to sleep. She'd done that pretty much everyday for the past three years and that was all she knew nowadays. She knew what it had been like before, but there was no point in remembering those things when she could never have it that way again. So for all she cared, her life could carry on the way it was now, with sleep, work, alcohol and then repeat. She looked at him, hear tears finally dry on her cheeks. Now it was anger that was built up inside of her. What did he know about grieve? He hadn't lost his family. He wasn't the one that saw his family burnt to the point of no recognition, with parts of their bodies missing. It made it all the easier to ignore his tears. " Stop. Just stop. What exactly did you lose? You didn't lose your family. You didn't see your family burned to the point of no return. You didn't-" Her voice broke and the tears that she'd temporarily lost began to fall down her cheeks again. She backed away from him, a hole growing inside her chest. Every minute spent with him made her realize how much she missed her family, reminding her of what she'd lost. Her head shot up when she head the doorbell ring as someone entered. "WE'RE CLO-" Lia stopped talking, seeing who it was that had entered. With her drunken state, she had no control what so ever over her actions. A big, exhausted sigh escaped through her mouth and when she met Elias's gaze, she felt her heart skip a beat. It bothered her, but as to why was still unknown to her. "Nothing of importance. And no. He's not bothering me. We- We're just sorting some things out", she replied quickly, slurring a bit, before turning her attention back to Levi. Everything about him broke her, but whatever was happening between them needed to get sorted out. Before any of them could say something else, she turned around and went to the storage room, her steps somewhat wobbly. She grabbed her bag and went back to them. "So-" she began, slapping away her tears. "Do any of you have something important to say? If not, I'm out", she told them, feeling rather done with the whole thing. The last thing she needed was Elias to be there, when everything about him confused her. Levi was a lot less confusion, mostly just memories.

Pained bubbled up to the surface, cutting through everything inside. How could Jezelia think he was so removed from the situation? On that day, he’d lost so much too. Sure, they weren’t his biological family, but he loved them as if they were. Levi was close with his parents, but he had a special bond with Lia’s family. As soon as he met them, he felt like a part of them. Sometimes, he would meet Winston for lunch downtown, just the two of them. Levi was granted a seat at their family dinners, a place among them always. Had Lia forgotten that? Beyond that, he’d lost her, too. For quite a bit of time, he felt stuck in the events of that day. Everything had changed. Because his family moved on, though, he was forced to move, too. How did that translate to being unaffected? Just as Levi opened his mouth to plead with Lia again, the door to the bar swung open. He leaned back, trying to feign calmness so as to not alarm the customer. Before he could react, Lia brushed everything aside. Nothing of importance. Another to add to the list of stings from the night. Levi was generally a kind person, attempting to be understanding and nice to everyone. The new guy, though, was immediately someone that he did not like. His chosen strategy was to ignore him. Levi pushed away the connection he heard in the words Lia shared with the man. That wasn’t important. He couldn’t let this moment slip from his fingers, not when he’d finally found Lia after all this time. He couldn’t let it go. As Lia ran into the back, Levi stood up from his seat. He could feel the distance forming already. Panic rose inside him. If he could keep her there, he needed to. When she reemerged, he knew he was on his last chance. ”Lia-“ Levi said, trying to ground her, ignoring the other man entirely, ”Please, you know this is important. I have so much more to say. You can’t just go.” Words: 389 Tags: Elias R. Jagger and Jezelia Lennox

He was still standing when Lia walked away. There was an odd way to how she walked, but it was familiar to him. She had been drinking. But then again, she always drank when she worked. It was something Henry never said anything about, at least not to him or in front of him. He stared at the guy, a scowl forming on his face. Another someone from her past? He didn't know what was happening, but it was clear that the guy was upsetting her. It didn't matter what the whole story was. The first time a guy showed up at the bar knowing Lia, it had turned out fine. But not this second time. There was something in her past that kept her at The Burrow, at her little apartment in the poor side of the District. Was it him? Was it this guy that she was trying to run away from? Or was it all of her past? They were too alike, both running from the past. And her past was finding her. Eli stepped up and looked the guy in the face, "hey pal, she said she's gonna go, so it's time for you to leave. Alright?" WC: 202 TAG: Jezelia Lennox , Levi Nors

Lia frowned when she heard Levi. It was important but she didn't want to discuss any of it. She wasn't ready for that and despite everything she'd said, he still didn't seem to understand that. But that didn't mean she didn't want to see him anymore. Despite everything, he still had a way of making her feel good and she wanted that. She'd like to hear him out, but on the condition that they didn't talk about the past. She could definitely agree to that. "Oh shut up Eli. You don't speak for me. We've totally had that discussion before", Lia rolled her eyes, trying not to start an argument with Elias too. She didn't really need it on two fronts. But she also didn't need his butting in, especially when he didn't know anything at all about the situation. Levi was the one person she knew she could trust, no matter what and it had never really been easy for her to stay mad at him for long. "It's time for all of us to go actually" Lia looked at Elias, nodding to her own statement before walking to the door, keys ready in her hand. "Le? I really don't want to talk about this. You can come with on the condition that you don't mention anything about what we've already discussed. Deal?" Her brows rose, waiting for his answer.

Levi liked the other man less and less. He kept acting like he had some type of claim over Lia. What was his deal, honestly? How did he get to decide what Levi had to do? Fortunately, before he involved himself in a situation that would probably lead to him getting knocked out, Lia nipped the situation in the bud. What left a bad taste in Levi’s mouth, though, was the implied past between the two. Lia’s three years on her own weren’t something Levi was fully ready to think about. He accepted her middle ground. Yes. At least this way, he could still see her. Levi exhaled a sigh of relief. ”Yeah… absolutely, Jezelia. Deal.” He was so thankful he’d been given that chance at least. Levi followed her out the door and onto the street. It was dark now, the night sky black and dotted with the twinkle of starlight. Even though there was another guy there and Lia felt colder than normal, it still felt like another chance. Words: 199 (RIP me, so sorry it's this short guys) Tags: Elias R. Jagger and Jezelia Lennox

Eli looked at the bar longingly. He hadn't had a drink in a long while. He'd had wine and the like, social drinks. But he wanted something harder. His eyes stared at the bottle of whiskey at the back of the bar. It was his favorite brand. He sighed and looked between Lia and the guy. He didn't seem dangerous and Lia knew him. She also neither wanted or needed his help. And at the moment, he had something he had to get out of his mind. He needed to forget because lately, he'd been remembering. "The first time I come to this bar to actually drink and I'm getting kicked out. Alright," he said and walked out the bar. He didn't stop walking though. Eli continued on until he got to the bar on the corner of the street, the one that smelled of piss and vomit. He'd walked all the way to the poor side of the district to get a drink and he was damn well going to have one. He'd already put Emilia to bed and had planned on staying out a little late since he had nothing to do the next day and Aria was working. He and Emilia could watch movies all day while he tended to his hangover, which he wouldn't have if he didn't drink. WC: 233 TAG: Jezelia Lennox / Levi Nors NOTES: exit thread

Lia smiled a little, nodding. "Okay. Good", she replied and looked at Eli. If she'd thought he'd looked bitter in the past, it was nothing compared to now. She did feel a little bad for him but when he decided to leave, there was nothing she could do to stop him. She knew better than that and it would make her a hypocrite. And it was also awfully easy to brush his emotional state off when she had so much else on her mind. She shrugged it all of and walked out the door, turning off the lights to then proceed with locking the door. She took in a deep breath once outside, feeling the could air enter her lungs. "So, now what?" she asked, looking at Levi.

Thankfully, the stars aligned for Levi. The man Lia called Eli strayed off to some bar, leaving the pair alone. Even though Levi wasn’t planning on bringing up anything of significance to Jezelia again, at least for that night, it was still better than nothing. He still had the chance to be around her, to talk to her. To make her feel real again. ”Anything, really,” Levi responded to Lia’s question. ”It’s whatever you’d like to do. We could just walk, or we could maybe grab some food, or maybe even go to a different bar or something.” Speaking about something so mundane like plans with her still felt fascinating. ”Actually, now that I’ve said that, how would you feel about food? I can buy, but it doesn’t have to be like a… well, you know.” Like a date he finished in his mind. Words: 179 Tags: Jezelia Lennox

Lia watched Eli's back go farther and farther away, while contemplating the choices she had with Levi. Her brows raised when he was done talking, followed by a slight eye roll. "Really Le? Why would you even think to call it a date?" Lia couldn't help but laugh a little before she hooked her arm under his, beginning to make their way in the opposite direction of where Eli had went. Everything was so difficult and frustrating with him and his mood swings didn't exactly make any of it better. And now she suddenly had Levi back and she wasn't sure what to think of that. What she did know was that she didn't want food, she wanted to drink. "I'm up for some drinks. I know the bartender around the corner, we could go there", she told Levi and took out a cigarette before looking back at him. "Want one?" she asked, wondering if he smoked. He hadn't been one to do so when they partied years ago, but maybe he'd changed. Based on what she could tell, it didn't seem like he'd changed too much but then again, she didn't really know anything.

Lia was sending terribly mixed singles to Levi. First, she rolled her eyes and immediately afterwards, she linked her arm through his. Levi desperately was trying to get a read on her. What did she want, and what level of comfort was she at with him. He decided to be incredibly careful in his approach. He nodded at her request for drinks. ”Drinks do sound good,” he told Lia. ”Never ended up drinking anything, after all.” The downtown area now seemed to be littered with bars, like everyone there was desperately trying to drown their sorrows in alcohol. As Lia produced a cigarette, Levi watched her hands. He never liked cigarettes, not even when he was young and stupid and trying to fit in. ”Nah, I’m good. Thanks, though.” Levi was quiet for a moment as he walked down the street beside Lia. He breathed in the smoke as she exhaled it. Even though he wasn't smoking the cigarette himself, he still found the smoke cloud to be satisfying. "So what's it like drinking at a bar you don't work at?"Words: 189 Tags: Jezelia Lennox
