Terra liked how Sloan rolled with their conversation. Everything just seemed so natural to him and the more they spoke, the more it became natural to Terra, too. She smiled, "I'm not really sure what you're talking about. So I'm just going with you would have wasted your time trying to fish." The words he used wasn't something she was used to. Fisherman lingo probably. She had never been friends with a fisherman before so this was new to her, despite living in District 4 for a while now.
The restaurant was getting packed from people taking their lunch breaks, a few of them staring at her and Sloan with their empty plates. She cowed under their gaze. "I'm ready to go," she said sheepishly. She really wasn't, she didn't want to have to leave Sloan and be alone again. Of course, she would see him in a few hours. But she wasn't ready to say good bye just yet.
Terra pulled some cash out of her bag and set it under the plates so they wouldn't fly away, then jumped off the seat. There was far too many people. The world seemed to become smaller as their bodies pushed against her. Her body shook, her heart racing far too fast, and her skin was hot and cold at the same time. Her vision turned into a pinhole and her ears filled with the sound of her own heart beat. She wasn't aware of breathing, was she even breathing? Although her mind didn't work properly, she somehow found herself standing on the street, finally free of the crowd behind her. Terra closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. When she opened them, her eyes fell on Sloan. She bit her lip to stop herself from crying out. She often had panic attacks when people got too close to her. She was okay performing, people kept their distance. Terra tried to smile and say something, but her mouth only opened and closed before she began to walk away once more.
