Stitch is too nice for his own good. Giving is in his nature. Somewhere on every cell of his being reads "Please love me". Occasionally Stitch gets the wool taken over his eyes when he tries to be generous. Stitch doesn't care if that happens because he knows he helped someone in someway.
Stitch is not just nice. That wouldn't make sense. Like everyone else he feels a range of emotions and thoughts especially with his families uncertain love for the capitol. The Mitten clan for the most part were very precise with their alignment in the war. They almost all were kiss asses in the capitals eyes. Quilter Mitten, Stichs's father made sure all his children kept their noses clean and out of trouble while making his political lean obvious. Sewsen Mitten, Stitch's mother instilled her children with manners that resembled those of a capitolites.. well a good mimic at least. His mothers logic was that if anything then by acting more like the capitol then perhaps they all would be treated kindly.
Stitch learned a lot not only from life but his siblings. Thimble Mitten was the oldest out of the Mitten kids. Stitch was only twelve years old when he lost his brother, shot while assisting the rebels against the capitol. The death of the eldest son sent a shock through out the house, one silent but deadly. The mood in the shop became filled with undeniable tension.
Stitch's father wanted to show the capitol their loyalty by smashing Thimble's urn publicly rather then store it with the rest.
The act disturbed Stitch's mother greatly to the point she would simply lie in bed without saying anything but a sobbing noise.
Stitch's eldest sister Yarnette taught him that when one parent breaks down then it's your responsibility to pick up the pieces. Stitch helped around the shop like his twin sister Sew but not at the level of Yarnette. He watched the dynamics of their whole entire home shift for a long time. For a while Yarnette was the true Matriarch and their mother was a shadowy figure head. It wasn't until recently after the war that Stitch's mother slowly reclaimed her former status in the houses ecosystem.
Lastly in the Mitten clan was Stitchs younger twin sister Sew. They have always been close. It made sense after all in their house Mom had Dad and vise versa while Thimble once had Yarnette.. their were no options. Even if their had been other siblings Stitch couldn't think of anyone else he would rather have as a best friend.. okay their are two others but they aren't family. When it came down to it blood was thicker then water no matter how much their father tried to change that.
Those other two you ask? Oh yes you mean Denim and Jean. Jean is such a nice girl, one of the few girls that didn't call Stitch a traitor growing up. While some families kept their distance from the Mitten clans obvious Capitol love.. Jean managed to look past that and at Stitch. They are what in common terms are called ride or die friends. Once you sew someone's hand to your own by accident then through the powers of pain bonding you are best friends.
Denim met Stitch when they were still just little ones. The boys befriended each other fairly quickly. Stitch's father thought it was perfect what with their families love for the capitol and Denim being the mayors son. For a good seven years they pals until the news came of Thimbles death on the side of the rebels. It was in this time that Stitch would need his friends the most but Denim was taken away from him. What else could he expect? The Mayors son mourning with the family of a rebels would have looked terrible in the capitals eyes. The two grew apart of that. A bitterness on Stitch's end of the friendship formed until finally they just avoided each other.. moving on with their life's.
Stitch you see isn't always the nice guy I painted him out to be at the start. He like everyone is complex and stuck in a web of relationships whether blood or friendship. Don't even let me get started about politics.. rebel like his dead brother or a kiss ass capitol supporter like Daddy.. what wonderful choices.
