Class was over and Troy threw his backpack over one shoulder and headed straight out of the school. Despite his speed in leaving the actual building, he went over to a nearby tree in the school yard and plunked himself down. If he went home that meant that he would have to be on barn duty and he wasn’t having any of that today – at least, not yet. If he pulled out his homework and someone – namely, Seth – saw him in the yard, his parents couldn’t give him shit for not coming home straight away. Troy took out his school books and set one of them in his lap opened to a random page. He leaned back on the tree and let the sun hit him. It was pleasant considering the last few days had been rather chilly.
Troy was well-known at school, mainly for being a shit head along with his brother and his girlfriend. Whether people liked him or not, they at least knew who he was. He saw a group of kids walking by, and feeling as if he required some attention, grabbed a nearby crab apple and threw it at them. He didn’t throw it particularly hard, but it was enough that it would make someone turn around. Troy knew that it would go one of two ways: either the person would come and give him company or would make him run. Preparing just in case the second option happened, he semi-packed his bag and waited for the outcome.

When class let out, Quinn was, at first very excited before remembering that she had several chores waiting for her when she got home, now, Quinn was not the best in school, her grades were acquitted. She was passing but she could do better. She didn't really push her self because she knew, she was going to marry Troy one day and everything would just be perfect from then on.
Several girls walked with Quinn, she would say she was popular or that they were her true friends. But when you have the best relationship on the entire planet it tends to attract the attention of girls who wish they were you. However, she was always very humble about it. Never gave out too much information out.
The group of girls chatted with as they left before someone rudely threw a crab-apple at them. Quinn looked to see who had even thrown it. No one other than the very man she was wonder where he ran off too. “you could have just called out to me instead of throwing something” she teased before saying goodbye to the group and lightly jogging herself over. The way the sun was hitting his face was perfection. “All's you have to do is that terrible bird impression and I'll come to you.” she smiled before taking a seat next to him. They didn't have many classes together or even really near each other at school. “How was your day after lunch,” she asked.

Troy let out a very loud and distinctive laugh. Out of all the people in school and how he through the crab apple, what was the chance that he would hit his girlfriend? He was practically beside himself.
“Yeah, but where’s the fun in that?” he teased.
Quinn came over to him and he appreciated the way the sun shone on her golden hair. Even if the sun wasn’t shining, Quinn managed to brighten his day anytime. It had been that way since he had met her forever ago. He couldn’t even remember when they officially met, but they had been together for almost as long. It was silly to think that two kids were “in a relationship,” but that’s exactly what happened between the two. They didn’t feel the need to prove themselves. They had always felt a connection. Troy was occasionally teased by his friends for only having been with one girl, but he had never felt sorry for himself. On the contrary, he had felt lucky that he was the only one that Quinn had been with or that Quinn was the only one he had been with. He couldn’t imagine the jealousy knowing that someone else had kissed her lips or held her hand or looked at her the way he did. Troy was happy that he had never wasted his time on someone else. He had never experienced heartbreak and it was something he would never have to. Even when they fought, he knew that their relationship was still strong, and he didn’t know many other relationships that were that solid.
The mere suggestion of that stupid bird noise made Troy do it, and then laugh because he knew that it drove her crazy. Troy leaned over and kissed her, glad that he had an excuse to not go home. Without Quinn, he probably would have given up on sitting under that tree pretending to do homework and grudgingly go home to help Seth – but f*ck that.
“Hmm after lunch,” Troy said and looked contemplative. “Well, I had my manly training, but I didn’t have to do much because I can’t exactly get manlier than I am,” he told her with a straight face. “Then it was math, in which I daydreamed through because let’s be real, I’m a lost case on that one. And finally it was murder lessons, in which I was clearly the victor.” He sighed. “I’m going to miss my friends in there.”
He placed his head in her lap. “How about yours? Oh, and way to just bail on your friends a minute ago. I’m sure they super appreciated that.”

Quinn simply stuck her tongue out at him as he teased her. What were the chances of him hitting her in the entire school? Very little chance. If she could do math in her head or even percents she could say exactly but she was not THAT smart. She had a good head but not in that category.
Quinn pushed him gently, teasingly as he made that obnoxious call. It drove her mad but secretly she also loved it? It was something just between the two of them. Now she never made the callback, because she was embarrassed to do so in public. But softly, when they were alone and primarily when Troy was sleeping. She would make it. She loved every bit of him even the annoying parts. Which, thankfully there weren't a lot of. She kissed him back for the quick peck before pulling a book out of her backpack in an attempt to make it look like they were studying.
“I'm to hear you were the victor,” she said as she grabbed his hand, lacing her fingers around his. “You're more likely to survive if it happens.” Quinn had always been worried about the games coming up. She hoped that neither of them would get pulled. The chances of both of them getting pulled were very slim due to the amount of kids in this school. She knew Troy was more than well aware of her concerns about the games. Who wouldn't be concerned? She knew of kids that would put their names in several more times to increase their odds just so their family could have more money or more food. Thankfully, Troy's family and her family never had to do that. Their families had some sort of an agreement, she couldn't remember if it was her's or his family that had some sort of deal with another family in District 10 where they would trade meat for crops and such and of course the more crops they were given the more meat they would give. This had been going on for years now. Their families probably ate better than most. Just the thought of Troy being called upon on the day of reaping made her sick to her stomach. She didn't want to every risk losing him.
“Class wasn't anything unusual. Had a test in history. About the first war. I feel pretty good about it. Studied pretty hard so I'd be a bit disappointed if I didn't do good on it.” she commented as she leaned her head on to his shoulder. “Then math. And you know me and math.” she chuckled. Most of her morning classes were the active classes which she was a little jealous of Troy for having them in the afternoon when one is more awake. Needless to say she good but not the best in those classes.
She stuck her tongue out at him again when he so boldly accused her of ditching her friends for him. “They'll understand. Honestly. They prefer we spend time together. Then they can dream what it's like to be in such an incredible relationship” she stated as a fact. “Oh guess what day is coming up....” she exclaimed. She didn't even wait for him to guess. “My birthday!” she said cheerfully.
“My parents are letting me throw a party too. In the barn, we don't use very often. I was thinking of people to invite. Who should that be? Obviously, you and Seth are invited, but who else? I thought of inviting everyone in our grade but I wasn't too sure. I know some of them can be troublemakers.” she gestured to a few kids a bit away.

I t sounded corny, but Troy took great enjoyment of every time Quinn touched him. It was like a crush. He knew that he was the reacher and that Quinn was the settler in the relationship, and was constantly aware of it. Almost everything that she did seemed cute in their own ways, even when she just woke up and her hair was all mussed up or when she got mad at him. He supposed he was still the kid who was determined to marry her one day. If things went the way that they were going now, he knew this would be the one. He knew it in every glance and every laugh and every word. Naturally, if he said any of this out loud that he would be made fun of, including by Seth (who he suspected thought their relationship was gag inducing). When they were alone, though, was what mattered. “Pfft, I’d clearly have it in the bag, no questions,” Troy told her. “With me in it, it would be nonsensical to even call it the Games since there would be no competition.” Naturally, Troy thought that he would be completely obliterated if his name were drawn, or if Quinn’s name had been drawn and he went into the games via that route. He never spoke of his intentions, but they were there and not a moment went by that made him question if Quinn was worth his life. It went without saying when couples were in love, didn’t it? He had never told her his plans. “Please don’t tell me that you would volunteer for me if I was chosen,” he said to her, all the sudden sombre in their silly situation. Troy’s brain was all over the place and therefore conversations with him tended to be unusual. “You’d probably ace it without even studying,” he said, simply, managing to switch the conversation back seamlessly. “You could probably ace it even if you didn’t know it was coming up.” Troy wasn’t as much of an academic, but he tried. It was hard not to when a person dated Quinn Rigby. It worked – he could tell because his grades were higher than his brother’s. One could say that it could have been due to environmental differences through the years, but Troy decided forever ago that Quinn was the reason. Besides, he actually had to start applying himself in high school where before then he had always been able to get by without studying. Not the kind to ace tests, but still passable. Troy rolled his eyes. “Yes, I’m positive that’s what they’re thinking. You know, it is possible that we’re not the only in love couple in school. I’m pretty sure that brunette friend you were with is in one of those.” He didn’t really know for sure. Troy and Quinn were pretty bad about ditching friends for each other considering they were friends, too. Somehow they managed to keep friends and have a pretty good social standing in general. “Yeah, don’t invite Ian,” Troy stated, almost a little too quickly. It was obvious that Ian had a crush on Quinn. In fact, most of the grade knew that. He pretended to not be bothered by it considering he figured many guys had a crush on Quinn, but he was too good-looking and Troy knew – no matter what Quinn told him – that Ian was the hotter one. He didn’t think Quinn only cared about looks, but damn Ian had a good one of those, as well. “I mean, Kevin and Gus in the grade lower are alright, too. Just try not to avoid those who are weak on booze. Speaking of which, where should we get it?”There were fairly tight restrictions on alcohol, but since they were in a farming area, it was made infinitely easier to get one’s hands on compared to other districts.
