Today had been exhausting, and that word seemed to be putting it pretty mildly. Marcella had barely been able to sleep last night, and then had a twelve hour shift at the hospital. There seemed to be a little spike in patients over the past few days too, as she was constantly running from one patient to another. She was still in training, not a full-fledged doctor by any means, but that didn't mean she was standing around watching everything. She was shadowing doctors, taking vital signs, asked to make treatment suggestions, and told to run the little errands for the ridiculous things patients sometimes asked for. Most 18-year-old girls, when they came home after a day like today, would do one of two things. The first group would make their way to their room and sleep until late the next day. The second group would get dolled up and release their exhaustion in the form of a night out at a party or with friends. Marcella, however, fell into neither of these camps. She wasn't huge on going out for the sake of going out, although she did have friends and places she could go if she wanted to. She also didn't like to sleep away the hours, because there were always other things she should be doing instead. No, tonight she had another plan. Closing the door behind her, Marcella let out a long breath. It felt good to be home. She had told her father - and herself - that she was saving up enough money to move out of the beautiful, spacious Callian home, but if she were being honest with herself, she wasn't in a rush. Any place she'd be able to afford would be a dump compared to this place, where she could stretch out and feel comfortable. She was still saving, that was true, though if she found something better to spend some of her money on in the meantime, it wouldn't be the worst thing. She kicked off her shoes and started making her way through the house. It was around ten, not so late, and she kept wandering until she found what she was looking for: her father. Smiling at him, Marcella leaned against the door frame. "Hey Dad," she began, "Up for spending some time on the mat tonight?" A training session with her father sounded like the perfect cure for the day. WC: 401 Tag: Tiberius Callian

Every day it felt like the Capitol had more and more they wanted from him. More paperwork and documentation about the smallest of things. Those things were not what he had signed up for. Sure it made sense. Things were still uncertain in the districts and the fledgling peacekeepers force was just that - new. They needed the information in these reports and Tiberius had most certainly dealt with them the entirety of his career but it was so... boring. He'd have time when he was his father's age to do nothing but papers. Though he never intended to be as frail as his father had gotten in the last couple years.
The Capitol needed these performance reports but Tiberius had been working on them what felt like all day. After a morning meeting at the academy anyways. It was so sedentary that he had spent the last hour yawning and feeling like he was going to fall asleep sitting in his office. He had a little more self control than to regularly end up asleep at his desk. But admittedly last night he had spent on research over his long lost family member. That had been a long and twisting road to track down and individual whose connections to the family had all very carefully been erased many years ago. Tiberius had connections but that still didn't mean the answers just came to him. It was a little oversight just how much time he let himself spend. One thing Tiberius didn't do was give up.
Between the fact that he was actually searching through and finishing paperwork and the fact that his eyes were threatening to close on him he did not notice that anyone had come into the home. Which wasn't exactly characteristic of the man who normally seemed far too aware of everything going on in his home. So when her voice spoke up from the doorway the man dropped his pen and looked up quickly from what he had been doing. It only took a second to realize how silly it was to even be surprised, and a slight smile came over his face. Not to mention that her question was oh so welcome in this otherwise dull day of his.
"Oh, I didn't know you'd come home." Tiberius spoke up apologetically, shifting the paper he had been writing on neatly into a stack. To finish later. Or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow. "That idea sounds so good right now." Anything to get out of sitting at a damn desk any longer today. A little bit of training, that was something that would keep him awake. Maybe make the rest of his desk work a little more tolerable tomorrow. He stood up from his chair promptly at that as if he had been waiting for an excuse all day to get moving and doing something. "Of course I am up for it. All this crap can wait a little longer." He motioned to his work with a slight scowl on his face. If he could trust and hire someone else to do it, he very quickly would have done so.

Of course Marcella noticed that her voice had surprised her father. She hadn't been making any particular effort to be quiet as she walked through the house, so the fact that she had startled her usually hyper-aware father probably said something about the kind of day he was having. It was almost a disappointment actually - had she actively wanted to surprise him, as she had tried before, she probably wouldn't have been able to. He was always one step ahead of her, at least when it came to stuff like that. Unlike Marcella, physical training was a part of her father's livelihood. His job demanded a certain level of fitness and upkeep that hers didn't, and he had a long list of other work that took up his time at home as well. She couldn't always get a yes to his attention, but it was a relief that right now, when she needed it, she could. Ella smiled and straightened up from the doorframe. "Good," she returned, already starting the retreat into the hallway and toward the room full of mats and equipment that they used as a home gym. "This patient of mine was going on and on about how I should see the other guy and how his wounds weren't really so bad and he could protect a pretty little thing like me and called me babe and I seriously need to hit something."It wasn't abnormal to be hit on by patients. In fact, it was so extremely commonplace that most of the other pretty nurses or doctors had long since gotten over it. It sort of pissed Ella off though. There was nothing hot about changing bandages or walking people to the bathroom or drawing their blood. If she wanted to get hit on, she'd go to a bar. Besides, didn't they get that she was partly responsible for their recovery - and could thus mess it up if she really wanted? Not that she would do that, but some of the patients treated their hospital stay as if it were a social opportunity. Marcella started pulling her long hair back into a ponytail as she made her way through the house. "What were you working on anyway?" she asked, glancing back at him. She pulled open the door to their gym and stepped inside, swinging her arms back at forth to start warming them up. She stretched above her head and bent side to side. "Aren't there other people that can handle all that crap, as you so clearly put it?" WC: 425 Tag: Tiberius Callian
