Most Peacekeepers were staying far away from District 7's tributes this year, thinking it was wiser to do so. The Peacekeepers involved had done all they could to keep the District 7 riot out of general knowledge among the general populace, but it had spread through the Peacekeeper ranks quickly enough. Sponsoring them could be dangerous, especially the girl - who had tried to interfere during the riot itself. But Mahalia was used to doing what most people didn't do, and it had tended to work out for her. District 7 intrigued her now, a place she had hardly given any thought to before. They were trouble makers, and while Mahalia was all about keeping the peace, she loved a good challenge. It's why she was part of the Special Operations Unit, and it wouldn't be any fun if nothing like that riot ever happened. The girl from 7 had spirit, was strong, and scored pretty well. Mahalia didn't normally take an interest in the boys, but this one was a bit of a charmer, and had scored the highest throughout training out of the lot of them. His chances were pretty good. It would be interesting to see what came out of these two. Today, she was meeting up the other sponsors for District 7, Johanna Mason and Dominic Williams. Johanna she liked, though she wouldn't actually admit it to anyone, and Dominic she didn't. Her fellow Peacekeeper wasn't the best at keeping himself in check, and it was probably going to get him killed some day. They were meeting for lunch at a place Mahalia frequented often when she was stationed in the Capitol, a somewhat rowdy but quite tasty restaurant. It attracted the people that loved to party the hardest, and it was never quiet. At lunch, most of the guests were recovering from hangovers from the night before and were quite fun to watch, while at dinner the party started up again. It had been her favorite place to people watch and get in good graces with hungover Capitolites, and it seemed the perfect place to meet up with the other people that were also sponsoring District 7's pair. A little different from the normal frilly joint. Mahalia wore a skin-hugging red dress and knee-high black boots as she sat at a table awaiting her party. Her long, black hair hung loosely in curls down to her chest, streaks of red woven into them. It might have been a look more suited for a party, but she enjoyed the chance to dress up in the Capitol. You never really knew what or who you'd run into, and she had to utilize the time she had in the city she knew best. The woman looked up as the first of the two came to join her and smiled. "Happy Hunger Games to you. So, what do you think of our two little District 7 kids this time around?" Dominic was vacationing in the Capitol. He still had a couple of more weeks before having to travel back to their next assigned district. So far he'd just been watching the games. He also tried to stay away from Johanna Mason so as not to draw attention to themselves. They were tied to each other in at least two ways and being seen together would not have been the best thing at the moment, especially with the District 7 riot still fresh on many people's minds. Of course, the citizens of the Capitol had no idea of any of this. But any publication of them would be shown to others and who knew who would see them? No. It was best to remain as far away from Johanna as possible.
However, today was one of those impossible days. He was walking towards a restaurant to meet a Peacekeeper of all people. Even worse, she was one of the Peacekeepers involved in the District 7 rebellion. He had half the mind to decline, but when the subject of sponsoring District 7 came up, Dominic agreed. How could he not? Ariadne was depending on him. Walking into the restaurant, it was impossible to not see Johanna. He had the feeling that she, too, would be there. Of course she was going to be, she was their mentor.
Dominic sat across from the Peacekeeper who looked very differently from the last time he saw her. "Same to you," he responded before ordering a glass of water. " They have potential."

Johanna wanted to go home. She didn't want to have any meetings, she didn't want to sponsor or mentor anyone, and she especially didn't want to be in the place of spoiled brats and fake diamonds. The Capitol always made Johanna miserable, though this time it would be harder than usual. Nic wanted her to kill the President's right hand man, and she really didn't want to. Not because of her "love" of Snow, but because she would end up dead herself if she tried to do that. He was always standing by the President, and she would never be able to take on him alone. The girl was a strong victor, yes, but he had years upon years of training for the one moment someone would try and assassinate Snow. She was the last one to walk into the room, being late as she usually was. She saw a woman and next to her a man...but Johanna recognized the man from somewhere. She was skeptical, and she figured both of them were peacekeepers. Both were fairly attractive and very built. Johanna couldn't take her eye off of the brunette boy though. But then she remembered. Picturing his face somewhere else, she knew exactly who he was. He was that Nic guy. Well, this is fantastic. Just great. She then put two and two together--Ariadne and him were both there...he talked to her like some sort of...oh no. Nope, Johanna was not dealing with this. Either a sister of his or a girlfriend. The luck that she usually had was horrible, and this just put the cherry on top. A Peacekeeper who doesn't follow the rules and a Peacekeeper who would kill someone if they broke the rules. She loved this place even more now, she thought with sarcasm. "I think they're built fairly well and might make it, but I could care less for their personalities. They're both stuck-up and ignorant. But maybe that's what you look for in a tribute." she said with a slight shrug.

Mahalia gently swirled a drink the color of her dress as she watched first the male Peacekeeper, Dominic, show up. She hadn't seen him since the riots, when he'd left quite quickly after Judas Reimer had yelled at him. If the man had just left and gotten his tributes onto the train when she had told him to, maybe he could have avoided the little meltdown and curious exit. As it was, he was now on her radar as one to watch. Surely she was on Judas' as well, and Nemesis, who had also seen the whole thing. Having that in mind made their little lunch all the more interesting for Mahalia, and really, she couldn't have planned if she had done it on purpose. She had decided to sponsor District 7 before she had realized that he too was a sponsor, and now she just had more time to feel him out. Almost immediately following Dominic and speaking up to answer her question as well was Johanna, as pleasant as ever. If the woman wasn't a victor who teetered constantly on the verge of getting herself or others killed, she and Mahalia might have been friends. Most of the people Mahalia had to deal with, when not rebels of course, were pretty brainless and flat when it came down to it. She put up with them because she had to, and because it was ultimately benefial to her. Many of those brainless idiots had helped bolster her into her current position. Johanna was neither brainless nor boring, and maybe even be the kind of person Mahalia might have been if she had stayed in District 5 and become a victor there. After taking a sip from her drink, the Peacekeeper raised her eyebrows and looked at her two lunch dates. "They have potential, are built well, and have shitty personalities. That's all the pair of you think of them? That just fills me with conviction for choosing the right district." Of course, she hadn't only chosen District 7. The recent riots had made Mahalia interested in the Games like she usually wasn't, and it was never a good idea to just sponsor one district. She was also interested in the girl from two and the girl from eight, especially the latter. Mahalia didn't need to use a lot of her money with all the traveling and crappy district work, so why not have a little fun? "Personally, I think their partnership has the best chance of beating out those careers, especially if we given them another ax. That's assuming, of course, that they don't turn on each other first. I'll admit that's a fight I'd love to see."A heavily-makeuped man in an aqua suit came up to the table to take their order then. His face looked tired, but he was also trying to remain bubbly and interesting. Like most of the other patrons of the place, he was failing quite terribly. It just made her grin as she placed her order for a nice rare steak before letting him turn to the other two for their order. Once he was gone, she resumed the conversation. "Now, I know why you're here," she started with a glance to Johanna, before looking to Dominic. "But I'm curious about your interest in these two. Did you just get terribly attached to them on your trip in from District 7?"

Dominic leaned back, making himself comfortable as the waiter came to take their orders. He had been to the place before, multiple times. Dominic didn't feel like being adventurous and trying something new today, so instead he ordered an old favorite-- a steak. Almost as soon as Johanna answered, he shook his head. She was such a ball of sunshine, but he supposed that what he liked about her. She was blunt... and sharp at the same time. Right to the point. No beating around the bush. With Johanna, what you saw was what you got. She was, in many ways, similar to Ariadne, although Ari would probably not admit it herself. And very different from Amelia. With Ariadne in the Arena, he had to work with Johanna in trying to keep her alive, which wasn't so bad since they pretty much fueled each other's personality. Dominic and Johanna were both tough. There were no pretenses between them, except of course the fact that he was Nic. And Johanna had never seen him without his Peacekeeper uniform or helmet.
He looked over to Johanna with a smirk. He knew the girl was now putting two and two together.
Dominic shrugged, "I spend a lot of time in District 7. It was my last tour before coming here. So yeah, I suppose. Besides, that Ariadne is a firecracker. She isn't going down without a fight. Don't really know what to think of the Calem kid. But I'm guessing he isn't as callow as some in the arena. Now that the two are teamed up, I'm guessing Ariadne is probably becoming pretty important to him." Dominic drank from the glass that was set in front of him.
Important... Yes... He wasn't a fool. Two people of the opposite gender sharing a life or death situation. There were bound to be some emotions. Dominic was a little crestfallen, but whatever it took to get Ariadne out. He'd deal with the rest later.
He cleared his throat, giving out a cacophonous sort of growl, "if he doesn't fight for himself, he's sure as hell gonna fight for Ari."

Josh was sitting on the bed that had been asigned for him. He was staring at an invitation that was sent by a Peacekeeper. she had invited the Sponsors of District seven. Well that woman had guts for sure! Either she was crazy and had a death wish or was a saddist and she wanted to meet with them to enjoy the dark fact that they would be wanting to kill her and they wouldn't be able to move a finger because she is a Peacekeeper and if a single hair is damaged, all of them and their families would be desroyed.
After hours looking at it, he decided to go. He reminded of an old, old, ancient saying about keeping close to one's friends but keeping the enemies closer. Well he was going to go to that dinner and meet that Peacekeeper, maybe know her better, he hated everything that had to be with the Capitol, but they were humans too, and some of them weren't that bad... well, his brother used to say that. He got up and walked to the place where the dinner was going to take place. When he got there, he could see some of the mentors of his district and some sponsors, his sister was there too, but as always keeping herself apart.
"Good day." he just say looking at everyone.

We are little, but we are many. We are five. We are smart with claws and big ears to hear all. We climbed out of that dark and colorless place together, free from our small cages. All of us that were down there wanted to be free of those cages for always. Suddenly we all were. Those trapped with us ran other places, but we did not want to go with them. They were not our friends, and they would take all the fun where they went. We wanted our own place to party and play. That's what we were meant to do: party. And destroy. We ran through streets crowded with people. They run from us and scream, and we laugh. It is colorful and pretty here, which only makes us want to destroy it more. Destroying pretty things was so much more fun than when we destroyed things in the colorless place. We flip things and shred things, throwing them around. Then, we realize that we are hungry. Very, very hungry. Humans eat food in this square box, and we run into it. There are lots of people here, and we jump on tables and into laps with screeches. Our screeches, their screeches. They run, and we let some of them go. There are so many. But we cannot let all of them go. One of us bites one, and they are tasty. Not as tasty as the other things we smell, but we must keep them in here in case the tasty smells are not enough. We are very, very hungry. After some run out, we shut the doors and lock them in. We know how to use silly human things better than some of the humans, and we know how to keep them in this square box. So we feast and we attack whatever we want to. Because we are free.

Dominic saw the young man walk towards their table. As soon as he had come in, he knew that the boy did not belong in the Capitol. A district boy. But what district? It didn't take long for him to figure it out when the boy looked over at their table, his eyes fixed on Mahalia.
He waved his hand to a waiter and ordered a glass of scotch as the boy reached their table. Dominic, knowing that he was probably another invitee to the luncheon, moved his chair over closer to Johanna to make room for the boy. He reached towards another table to grab a chair, but no sooner had he reached for it when tiny creatures came running into the restaurant. He stood up quickly, his chair launching back away from him as it fell on the floor.
There was a great commotion in the restaurant with many people screaming. Dominic cursed under his breath, remembering that he'd was weaponless. His gun was back in the weapons armory as he was off duty and on vacation.
"What the hell are those things?" his voice tried to yell over the crowd at Mahalia. Where they mutts of some sort? And if they were what were they doing in the Capitol? As one neared him, he walked backwards until he hit a chair and fell over backwards on his back.

(Omg I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while!) Johanna was tired. She wasn't sleeping well, and she was lucky if she got two hours a sleep per night. She often zoned out and sometimes didn't listen to the people around her. Waking up when she heard a strange noise, she turned quickly. There she saw the most hideous looking thing ever. It was small and black and green with red eyes. It was uglier than the mutts she saw in any of the games. There were too many damn people in this cafe, and the girl took out her pocket knife just in case. She looked around at the others, seeing people scream and run out. Well this day couldn't have gotten any worse. Damn gremlins. Whatever they were, they were puny, ugly children that she wished to slit their throats. She didn't need these things in her life. "You little a*****es, come here," she said under her breath. She knew coming to the Capitol was a bad idea whether she was forced to come or not. "Sorry, but we might have to reschedule our little date," she said to the gang and swiped her knife at the things.

Josh walked at the table and looked how the guy moved so he could have a seat. He didn't like people but he had to think of Ariadne and if being nice was going to get her sponsors, then he would be nice. "Thanks, Josh McKinnon." he told the man also introducing himself to the man. Then he sat down and looked at the tale, his stomach growled, till that moment he realized that he was hungry. he sighed ad then looked around, he saw Johanna there. He admired her, she was an amazing woman. But he wasn't there o admire Johanna and drool all over the place just for her, he needed to focus on Ariadne.
"So... are you from here or a district?" he asked the man, but then he heard the yells, he looked around and saw thse things. "Don`t know!! but for sure they are ugly!" He lowered his hand to his hip, his father had given him an ax for his birthday, but he couldn't wear it in the capitol or outside his house in the District. so he grabbed a knife from the table and threatened them with it. "stay away from me..." he said in a threatening way, not scared at all.

"They do seem a bit close, don't they? Let's just hope it doesn't become a problem down the line." Mahalia responded, watching Dominic as he answered her question. It didn't elude her that more was going on than he actually said, but any pushing from her would have to be careful. After all, she couldn't appear too curious and they were in public. And she didn't totally agree with what she said either. The pair of District 7 tributes getting close would make things much more interesting down the line. Both had their qualities, but there was nothing quite like watching a pair of strong fighters who actually liked each other square off. Dominic was saved further questioning by the arrival of Joshua McKinnion, the boy she had run into the night before. "Hello, Joshua. Glad you could join us," she greeted with a small smile. She had invited him along, since he seemed to eager to do something for the girl from his district. Perhaps being in a group like this would bring out some of the fire she had seen in Joshua's extemporaneous entrance into the sponsor room. If this group couldn't bring it back out of him and provide Mahalia with something interesting to do, she had no idea what could. The answer: a group of muttations. Mahalia stood on impulse as the ebullient creatures streamed into the cafe, wreaking havoc that sent the whole place to chaos. This was a whole new ballgame, and it would do just as well. She glanced to her fellow Peacekeeper. "Hell if I know," she called back. She reached down into her boots, pulling out a pair of knives. She flung one at one of the creatures who was running at a little girl with bright red hair. It hit the thing right in the back of the head, falling down with a satisfied thunk. Looking for her next target, she saw Johanna Mason swiping her knife at the creatures. She'd have to address later why a victor was walking around carrying a knife, but for now there were enough of the creatures that Johanna would be useful. The boy had a knife too, but just one of the table knifes which probably wouldn't do a whole lot of damage. Her fellow Peacekeeper, however, had tripped over a chair and was lying stupidly on his back. Mahalia approached him, kicking one of the things away from him with the toe of her boot. "Left your weapons in your other pants, huh?" she asked, flipping over her knife and extending it out for Dominic to take. Weaponless, she crossed back to the creature who held her other knife and pulled it out of the creature's head. It didn't matter what they were or why they had picked this cafe. It didn't even matter how many Capitolite casualties there were to this little battle. Mahalia just devoted herself to killing the things, and she was enjoying it.

Dominic watched the previous victor take out a pocket knife. Wasn't that against the law? He thought, but almost laughed at himself. Hell of a time to be acting like a Peacekeeper now. He pushed himself up and got in front of the boy, "Get behind me kid." Dominic held out his arm to try to protect him from the tiny creatures. "Don't need another casualty in my hands," he told the boy and then turned to Mahalia who was doing just find defending himself. Well, it seemed he was weaponless, but the creatures were small, so it wouldn't be too much problem just to knock them down with his bare hands. But they were fast.
He grinned at Mahalia, "Wasn't expecting an attack. Guess I just forgot the number one rule as a Peacekeeper." He took the knife from her, it was black and heavier than it looked-- perfect. "Nice knife," Dominic said as he lunged towards one of the creatures. The knife slid right into the chest as he felt the hilt crush its tiny ribs.
Two down.

Joshua didn't have much time to reply to Peacekeeper Echo, as she told him to call her, he was distracted by the muttos. He looked at the tiny things, but instead of feeling panic, the fear he was feeling only fueled his reflects, he needed to be fast if he wanted to survive. Maybe it was Snow's plan the whole time... to get more districts people to the capitol and slaughter them too?! "stupid thought" he scolded himself for thinking in such way. snow didn't need to do that, if he wanted them dead he could have done it in other ways. He looked at the man that just jumped in front of him and knit his brows. Was that man for real? he was... protecting him? why? only to have a clear conscience, well peacekeepers usually didn't have one! "I'm not a kid! and I don't need your protection!" he said in a kind of upset tone. Then he thought about how this man had been sponsoring Ariadne, maybe he had some special feelings for District 7. Joshua had seen it before, maybe he only wanted t be... merciful with District 7, well that was fine with the teen, but he hated to be treated like a kid. "I can help you, four hands and two pairs of eyes are better than a single set." He could help the peacekeeper, so as he had been helping Ariadne.
