Why do you even bother?[ ENTER FROM CORNUCOPIA ]Reko ran as fast as he could from the Cornucopia, wanting nothing more than to get away from the hideously demonic creature that had come for them. It seemed he hadn't been the only one getting restless. The Gamemakers were bored of the sitting around and well... he couldn't blame them. He'd wished for some action, even so much as whispered a dare to the Gamemakers to send something for him to do. Of course he'd intended for something he could kill, not a giant and indestructible magma beast. Suppose that was what one got for challenging Seneca Crane and his team, a massive problem. He wasn't going to try it again. The wide eyed young man was running at the full speed of his capability, but his stamina was lacking compared to many smaller tributes he was sure. His pace slowed and the young man's blue gaze turned back to be sure it wasn't following. For the moment it didn't seem to, probably still enjoying his snack. Then he looked back forward again.
"Hey! It stopped!" He called after his ally from four. The female looked back to check for herself, then to him again.
"You look out of breath. Would have thought you could handle a bit of running." She commented slyly, the amused grin on her face striking the already growing annoyance inside Reko, The boy from Two looked up from his bloodied sword, his gaze meeting with hers for a moment before he pointed toward the forest in front of them.
"That thing can't follow us in there. It's too large, probably doesn't like leaving the heat. We can escape through there before it even gets done with her." Reko suggested, trying to sound smart and give the orders. She watched him curiously and shrugged, but he remained intently pointing. "That way is best, let's go." He motioned her on, waiting for the female to take the lead in that direction, playing up his attempt to catch his breath long enough for her to look away. But as she headed toward the woods, he stood up straighter and moved after her. Everything would end now.
Reko moved behind her, lifting his sword with his face twisted in a mix of emotions. Hate, anger, betrayal, and the pure desire to finish another off. It was all there, and he didn't hesitate because of any remorse that she was his ally. No the plan had been to kill her from the start. His hesitation was in just how was right. Behind her back was easy, he wouldn't have to fight her. She was strong and skilled, he knew he wouldn't be able to easily defeat her, and he needed his strength against other allied teams. He couldn't trust her to stay alive and work with him either though... He had to do something now or he would miss his chance. The young man lowered the sword's position, stepping forward and lunging the weapon forward to stab through her middle, reaching his other hand to grab onto her shoulder and be sure she wouldn't fall. Not just yet. He stepped closer to her, leaning over her shoulder.
"I saw you talking to those other kids. Making plans, plans that didn't involve us. I saw it, I heard it. You were planning to turn on us the minute we left that Cornucopia I know it. Get the loot and run, right? And with those pathetic volunteers from eight even!" He snarled in her ear, holding her up as she gasped at the pain of the wound. There was an almost offended tone to his voice as he mentioned who it was. Of course he had no real basis and nor did he need any. In his own head, maybe even just in last night's dreams, he'd seen it go down. As far as he was convinced, she had sealed a deal against him. She was planning to join someone else to defeat him. To steal away his glorious victory. And that just wasn't okay. "I don't like being lied to. Being betrayed. It's not very friendly, is it?" He scoffed a bit, and when she didn't respond he twisted the weapon in his hand. "Do you understand that? Do you?! I will not be lied to. I will not be lied to again!" His voice grew in tone with each word until in the end he was screaming in anger. "I WILL NOT!" He screamed angrily as he shoved her forward and away from him finally. He stood tense, his grip on the sword as tight as could be his knuckles white, and he stared at her breathing hard and stressing himself further the more he thought of it, the more he considered it.
The young man lunged forward, the world around him just one mess of things coming at him but right now all he could see was his former ally. The liar, the traitor, the one who would have taken what his life was spent for. She was injured, there wasn't a real threat. He could have left her. Could have killed her in one hit if he wanted to. Still she was the only threat he saw, and a clean end wasn't the way. Not this time. Not here. He may have gone insane, he didn't feel so though. No his plans were all ruined. His second day was boring, he lost the shelter of the Cornucopia, the first day his district partner had betrayed him... The mutt that chased him away from the rest of the supplies could show itself any time now. And here this person he trusted as an ally... this pathetic being he had trusted as an ally... was still breathing. If only shallow and pained. The young man couldn't take it, reaching to stab her once more.
Several times, each angrier than the last, he did. He didn't care how messy he was, or if the Gamemakers and the Capitol were appalled by the anger and the vulgar words that spewed from his mouth. He didn't care. He was angry... and this was what happened. Without a care for any human in the world, his only care for his whole life in winning these Games, he lost it. The first perceived threat to that one desire and it had to be dealt with. But dealing with it had switched something far worse. Sure he hadn't cared about anyone before, but now... All he wanted was to kill everything.
Reko let out a final scream and backed away quickly when he managed to pull himself out of it. But it wasn't him really, it was the roaring of the demon mutt finally making his way toward him. The career looked up and in that moment his anger said to attack it. He could do it. He felt strong and invincible. His brain managed to settle in, instead screaming to run for the trees. To just keep running. He glanced to the body, then the mutt, then took off in the other direction quickly. He could kill something, but that thing wasn't it.
He felt oddly relieved after that, but even more-so there was a hunger inside him for blood, and that was just what he was going to go get.

Notes: Running from the mutt, notices it isn't following yet. Stabs his ally in the back (literally), gets angry about betrayal that his mind made up in a dream last night, yells and screams, overkill. Goes a bit insane, yells cursing, etc. Notices mutt coming for him, takes off running again.
Sorry for the overkill there! Treated her as an NPC, needed something to do this character switch.
