The holoscreen showed all what was to be seen from the games, and in the capitol you could even gor easily from a tribute to another without any problem. You could see all of them fast and could check which ones were in trouble, which need help and which were simply winning. The horrible sound of the canon just gave away the funest fact that a tribute had died. Then some people in the districts cried, others laughed and other just prayed to whatever they knew or could so their tributes didn't fall into the same fate. In the capitol usually no one cried, the capitol's citizens only cared if their bets were good or not, if their tribute had survived or not so they could get their money. but there were some... very few ones, that felt sad and even depressed when a tribute died.
Among those very few ones was Nova McKinnon. She was one of the victors of District 7 and for that she had to vouch for her tributes, be there for them and find as many sponsors as she could to keep them alive. Which she had been doing since the games started. Both her tributes had been alive for a long time and she was happy for them. Not proud for herself, it was her job to keep them with supplies and help, so if they were alive it was their do, not really hers, no matter what some sponsors said, what her younger brother said... she was proud of her tributes.
that had been a nice day, everything in the arena had been normal and her tributes were fine. But then everything changed! As some said, the gods might bless you in the morning but curse you in the afternoon. A trap... Ariadne got in it and those damned bugs killed her. She saw her all the time, she didn't dare to look away when the young girl was exhaling her last breath. She felt that maybe she could be with her in spirit, maybe the girl wouldn't be alone in that moment. Then the canon... so Nova knew that she was dead. People around made disgusted epressions, they had lost money. Nova wanted to kill them, she wanted to have a spoon and take their hearts out with it. but she breathed deeply and just after she saw that her male tribute was fine, she excused with the people in there and walked out as fast as she could. "excuse me..."
She didn't dare to show any of them her pain, her tears, her rude words that only were a reflexion of her soul in pain. She walked as fast as she could to an empty room. She walked in and then closed the door behind her. She walked to the window and there she let her tears roll down her cheeks. there her mouth started mouthing some rude words, then the volume got a bit louder. But she was careful not to say the true words in her mind, never to tell how much she dispised the Capitol and their games. "oh... Ariadne... why... why?..." she said looking at the window and didn't notice someone just walked in.
