Why do you even bother? Reko pulled himself up over the rocky edge, staring at the scene. There was a table and three bags... that meant nobody else had gotten here yet. A grin crossed the young man's face and he hauled himself up to the bridge. It was much easier to jump down the other way. It was warmer up here than he remembered, by a lot. Even the bridge under his feet felt warmer than it had been. He didn't really like the heat that well. He got up and hurried across the bridge as quickly as he could, trying to ignore how sweaty the heat was making him. The young career glanced behind him nervously, knowing it was possible somebody had followed him. He moved up to the table, looking over the different sized packages. He considered taking others but, that would be too much and too obvious for not knowing what was inside. Anyways he wouldn't want it to be obvious he had been there.
The career looked to the case with the two on it, picking it up. Looking carefully at it he smiled. It was different than what he expected, but it had to be good. They bothered providing it for a feast, and this one didn't even have Judas' name on it. He picked the actual pill out of the container, and the little bit of instructions, then closed up the container and set it back on the table how it had been. That should be convincing? He grinned a bit, moving around the table and inside the cornucopia with a smirk. His temporary home for the first couple of days. He moved close to the wall, holding his sword tightly in his hand and glancing toward the table. He glanced to the instruction on his, but put it his mouth against his cheek just for now. He had to wait, and hope he could catch them before they got their things. He hoped the shade of the cornucopia would be enough to remain unseen.

Why do you even bother? Reko took a step back against the wall, glancing outside still as he shifted his sword from side to side, hoping he wouldn't be seen by either of the other tributes on their approach. That would be horrible, and at that rate he should have just left the Cornucopia to start with. Being so large he wasn't sure how likely hiding would work but he was trying. Hiding behind the remaining stacked weapons and crates had to work right? It wasn't like he was lit up in there either. It was shadowy and dark, that had to work. He wouldn't say he was scared of the other two... okay maybe a little, but he was not wanting to lose any advantage he could have. kMSHPaa|3skill

Calem didn't stop running until he finally reached the top of the black rocks. As he gazed down the steep cliffs, he noticed that the lava looked higher than it had been previously. The magma below was boiling and some of it erupted upwards in short bursts, as if it were trying to escape the confinements of the rock. It was notably hotter up there than on the first day, but at least all the bridges and the Cornucopia remained, though he wasn't sure how safe it was to touch anything anymore. Was it even safe to cross the bridge? No, of course not. Nothing in the Games was ever safe. The whole mountain could blow right when the tributes got over to the feast table. A mutt could be released. The platform and bridges could "accidentally" collapse into the volcano. The Gamemakers had endless possibilities for torturing the tributes. Were the items even worth it? Was whatever that was within a box marked with his District's number be worth the risks? Maybe. Unfortunately, it turns out that thought crossed Calem's mind a little too late. He was already almost to the platform by then, trying his best to balance without using the sides of the metal bridge.
There were three containers on top of the table: a small box marked with a two, a long suitcase for himself, and a large bag with a ten on it, presumably for Matthias. Calem rushed over to the District 7 item and quickly opened it, the metal clips producing a crisp click. Inside was something far from what he had expected, but that did not mean he wasn't pleased or didn't want it. Definitely worth it. The item was a shiny new axe that looked exactly like the one he carried now, but for it to become an item so special as to be given out at the feast, there must be some other property to it. Calem couldn't wait to see what made his feast item so exceptional to be given out at such a time. He detached the plastic from the handle of his current weapon and transferred it over to the new one. Just holding it sent a renewed strength surging throughout him. Thankfully, at least Calem seemed to be the first person to get to the Cornucopia since the other items appeared untouched.
Summary: Exits magma environment and reaches the Cornucopia. Makes it to the table, grabs his new axe, attaches poison attachment to new weapon, thinks he is along, and waits for everyone else to show up. Right before he could see the top of the volcano that held the cornucopia, and whatever items had been laid out of the feast, Matthias slipped the invisibility cloak over his body. After making sure it was secure, that he was truly invisible, he made the final steps and stopped at one of the metal bridges. Up here, it was even more terrifying that it had been on that very first day, if that was at all possible. The red, angry lava boiled and hissed underneath the bridges menacingly and seemed closer to them than it had been before. Maybe that was just Matthias' own nerves, playing games with his head. It was probably that. The cornucopia might have been exactly like this the moment he had been raised up on his platform, only he'd run away from it that first day as soon as the timer had counted down.
He started across one of the bridges, walking carefully. Through his suit, he couldn't feel the heat, but the metal seemed to glow with it. Up ahead, he could see Calem, taking out what was must be his feast gift. The small boy from ten paled as Calem raised it up: an ax. Another ax, as if the large boy who was probably born with an ax in his hand needed another weapon. He'd clearly acquired plenty on his journey through this Games, as Matthias had seen down below: ax, spear, Basil's machete. Maybe Matthias should have been more careful with his knife, sneaking up on Calem and sliding the knife into Basil's killer instead of running stupidly at him, so he wouldn't have to face that ax up here.
Matthias gave a wide berth of Calem's new toy as he walked quietly toward the table. The remaining bags were marked 10... and 2. So the remaining tribute was a career, and since he did remember seeing the girl from 2's face in the sky, it had to be the male. Reko. Of all the careers to make it to this stage, Reko was the worst one he could have gotten. A high score like Calem's, and about as deadly if not more so. How could Matthias win against these two? Whatever was in his bag had better be pretty special, not just some knife or weapon that required he actually fight one of these two. These boys towered over him and tripled him in strength.
Stopping in front of the table, Matthias looked at the bag with his district number on it. The boy from two hadn't claimed his bag yet, which sounded like a good thing to him. He was extremely curious what his own bag held, hoping for the best. He could just grab it and run off, but he risked Calem spotting the bag going missing. The boy from 7 had unfortunately seen that Matthias could be invisible, and he could probably catch Matthias with that ax faster than Matthias could get away, invisible or not. He had one to spare anyway, plus a couple other weapons. So instead, the 13-year-old stood next to the table within arm's reach of his bag. He even put his invisible hand over it, ready to grab it quickly once the boy from two showed up and turned Calem's attention somewhere else.
Matthias is invisible.

Matthias was waiting and... nothing. The boy from 2 didn't show up, and Calem seemed to be just waiting as well. He watched Calem, and when the boy was looking another direction, snatched both remaining bags off the table. Calem would likely notice that next time he looked around, but Matthias was invisible. He just had to hope his fellow tribute was bad at throwing things. There had to be something he was bad at, right? Matthias ran as un-straight as he could think to run, getting to the bridge farthest from the table and Calem that he could. He slowed slowed when he got there, though. Matthias didn't know how loud pounding across the bridge would be, and he couldn't run in a crazy pattern here, so he walked carefully again. He ducked low as he walked, looking over his shoulder just in case.
Once on the other side of the metal bridge, past the scary lava, Matthias sprinted again. He clutched the two bags he held close to his chest, trying to run in an odd pattern as well but it seemed more important to keep his footing here on the slope of the volcano. He'd have to see what was in the bags when he was far enough away from Calem, and hopefully the other tributes who still hadn't shown up yet.

Were those footsteps? He listened closely. Yes, they very much were footsteps and they were followed by a strange clicking sound as Calem opened the clasps on his suitcase. He was still curious what the boy from seven had gotten that was so large. Reko peeked out from behind the weapons rack and pile of other various things toward the table. Another ax? There had to be something more special about this one, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. At this point he didn't even care. This boy was going down and he was going down now. It was time to end all of this, but wasn't there someone else left? The boy from ten hadn't shown yet.
It was at that moment that both the bag from ten and his empty bag from two was taken from the table by seemingly nothing, but a strange floating hand. So the district ten boy had some sort of invisibility. That would make things interesting later. But for now his mind was set on the district seven boy. He made his way through the cornucopia quietly and sneakily until he was close enough to the end to make his move. He dove toward him after biting down on the pill in his cheek, swinging at Calem's legs near his knee to attempt to knock him down (managing to hit his right leg) before falling to the ground beside him. He noticed something laying on the ground nearby. A gift. Must have been for Calem, but the boy hadn't picked it up yet. He grabbed the gifts and opened them, downing the contents of both little bottles. He then made a move to get back up.

It was oddly quiet and empty after Calem had his ax, and he kept looking around to check if anyone had shown up. He had seen Matthias running up this way, but since his bag was still on the table, he might have changed his mind about coming. He might also have been using whatever made him invisible before, and Calem felt a little regret at not killing the boy from 10 when he had a chance. The chance was right there in front of him, but because of the girl he'd killed - Basil, Matthias had cruely told him - he hadn't. An invisible enemy up here couldn't be good though. He was pretty sure the other tribute would make it up here too, the one he'd fought before the fire. There was no reason he should be invisible, at least.
Movement out of the corner of his eye made Calem look back at the table. Suddenly, both bags were gone. That meant Matthias had shown up...and maybe the career from 2? How could he not have heard either of them? Gripping his ax tightly, Calem took several steps toward the feast table. Several moments passed, and then something rushed out at him. He saw the other tribute coming and tried to block his attack, but failed. The sword that slashed across his leg and sent a wave of pain through him. He cried out and stepped back in spite of himself.
Readying his return attack, he saw the boy from two reach out to pick up something from the ground not far from the two of them. He downed the two vials inside while Calem watched in shock. Those were meant for him, weren't they? He hadn't even heard the beeping because he was so preoccupied with getting ready to fight off the remaining two tributes. Really angry now, Calem swung his poisoned ax at the weapon arm of the boy from two, wanting to sever the hand that held that sword.

Why do you even bother? Reko didn't have long between swinging the sword and drinking the sponsor gift before the other boy retaliated. It seemed he had angered the other young man. Good. Another angry tribute meant a better fight. Reko had no idea if he would win, his confidence wasn't there. But he knew it would be a real fight to end. They wanted a show and well, Reko would try and give them a finale. But he wasn't able to attack the other boy before the axe fell against his right arm. Reko gave a pained yell and reached for his arm, looking up with an anger in his eyes fighting through the pain. It burned. Burned just like the last time he had fought the other young man. Growling Reko got to his feet, still gripping the sword as tightly as he could. "I look forward to taking you down Seven. If I die, you are coming down with me." He snarled, swinging as hard as he could manage toward the other young man's weapon arm, wishing so badly that the boy would drop that axe, but he was certain that just like he wouldn't drop his sword neither would this boy. The burning of his arm from the axe hit concerned him about the strength of his hit though...

As his axe made connection with the Career's arm, Calem felt some of his strength return, despite the wound in his leg from the other's sword. That must have been what made his feast ax so different. The Capitol scientists probably imbued it with some sort of health-stealing power that would return strength to Calem. He was starting to feel a little bit better and hoping to discover more about the new axe, but that feeling was short lived. The other young man made some snide remarks that only made Calem angrier, and then sliced the sword at his right arm. Coupled with the other tribute's theft of his sponsor gifts that Trevor himself could have donated money for, Calem was just done with this Career and wanted him dead. He was beginning to sink back into the rage that he had plunged into before when reaped and when having to parade around in the Capitol for the viewers' entertainment. It was when he had pushed aside all emotions that could prevent him from reaching his goal--including people, during the beginning of the week. And right now his goal was to kill this tribute. He would not feel regret for doing so. He would not feel ashamed. He would not even give the Career the satisfaction of a response to his taunting. All the District Two tribute was going to receive was the cold blade of a poisoned axe into his weapon arm once again.

Calem could tell that his attack hadn't done as much damage as before because of the significantly lesser amount of strength that he felt be returned to him. Was the other tribute possibly getting stronger? But didn't the Career not get his feast item? All three of the containers were present on the table when Calem had shown up. One minute he looked away and once his gaze returned back to the table, both the District Two and Ten containers were gone. Matthias was the only obvious answer, since Calem now knew about his invisibility cloak. Unless...the Career tribute had collected his gift beforehand and made the box look like it had never been touched. Calem glared at the Career with a burning hatred engulfing his brown eyes, similar to how the forest around them had erupted into flames previously. The fire had only postponed their previous battle, not ended it.
Even angrier now that he realized that he had been so easily fooled--and twice now--Calem pulled back his axe, squeezed the handle of it once again, and plunged the blade back into the Career's weapon arm.

Why do you even bother? Reko smirked, trying hard not to laugh at the boy's attempt not to take the taunting. He could see the anger and hatred rising in the boy and that was enough. "Oh, I'm glad it's you and me. You've got the hate. You could be a monster too with that look. Isn't that what I am?" He asked with an amused and crazed laugh. He stared at the other boy, not ducking away fast enough as he landed two successful hits. Reko cringed and let out a pained yell that turned back to crazed and loud laughs as he grabbed for his arm. "I like you. You're tough." He laughed. Even his district partner had been an easy kill. His allies, no problem. He never would have expected the boy from seven to be strong and fast enough to get him twice. The career grinned, lifting his sword again and giving a twisted look toward Calem. "They're going to want it done soon. It's been days. So so many days! Here's your fight guys!" He yelled the end toward the sky and laughed more. "Will it be the angry little boy from seven or the capitol lover from two? Let's see shall we!?" He smirked and lunged for Calem and stabbing at his torso with the sword angrily, feeling he could do more damage moving forward.

Something must have snapped in the other tribute. He had started laughing at Calem, letting out more taunts while doing so. The laugh did sound genuinely amused, as if he found Calem's anger entertaining (which still only made Calem angrier), but something else was lying underneath it. It was quite obvious, since Calem had seen it happen to other tributes and victors in past Games. Things that Reko continued to do only increased the District 7 boy's faith in his conclusion. He yelled in pain as Calem's second attack hit his arm, but then returned back to his crazed laughing. The fact that he had complimented Calem, even though the other tribute had somehow turned a compliment into a threat. The contorted look that he gave Calem as he lifted his sword and continued speaking. Talking directly to the audience, and more crazed laughing. This boy was going insane, in Calem's eyes.
But apparently, insanity only increased the other's power as he lunged at Calem with his sword. Calem let out a pained yell as the air was knocked out of him. It felt as though the armor did nothing to negate the sword's strength. Was it possible that its durability was running out? Or was the other tribute's power actually increasing? But even with all of his ramblings, Calem could at least agree with one thing Reko had said: the Games have been going on too long and people are wanting it done. That would require two more tributes to die, and Calem wasn't even sure anymore which spot he was going to claim.
It was Calem's turn to smirk now. "Who said I'm not already one?" he asked with a small laugh not unlike the ones Reko had erupted into before, referring back to when the Career had called both of them monsters. "I have plenty of kills under my belt." He paused for a second and added, "Wonder who will be next," right before he squeezed the handle of his axe and swiped again at the other tribute's weapon arm. When was he going to drop that sword!
Lk8NZjLc6damage + 2(axe) + 4(poison attachment)

Why do you even bother? Reko grinned even more. Maybe he was going crazy, he wouldn't care. Nothing had gone as planned. His life had been built for this with a specific image, and he had not met that image. These Games had not fulfilled any of that expectation. The world and his dreams crumbled around him and he just couldn't take it. Someone used to such stability and sureness just couldn't take losing it all. Couldn't handle every plan crumbling to nothing. He just couldn't do it. He felt like he was dying emotionally, but he might as well enjoy it as he did. Laughing made it easier. Laughing made it less of a disaster... so he hoped. And it was hard to avoid it even. It only took seven days to finally get himself a fight. A real fight. Days of thinking about how messed up things were going had left him uncertain of the world he knew and had built for himself. He didn't know what to do, and it just erupted into more laughter where some might cry. This was fun, this was what he lived for. The thrill of this fight...
"Ha! We aren't so different you and me." Reko smirked at him, trying to back away from his hit and cringing again although didn't scream quite so loud. No, he didn't feel so much pain. Not this time, he wasn't sure if it was his laughter or his feast gift that made him feel strong and able to take anything. But he sure felt it. Nothing could take him down, nothing could kill him now. Reko looked to Calem with the widest and sickest of grins. "We go down together. Right here. There is no way, no freaking way you're getting away killing me." Reko snarled and glared toward the other young man. He didn't give up. He would , never just give up. He would go down fighting, that much was going according to plan. He had always known he would fight until his end, and even in his insane laughter he was determined to do so.
"They want their end, let's make it great!" He yelled and swung angrily for the boy's torso again. As the world blurred around him the boy's middle was the easiest to aim for. As it was, he had grabbed the sword with his other hand to stabilize himself. The rush he felt may have minimized the pain but the emotional damage and the struggle was making things difficult to make sense of. There was some increasing clarity, but he wasn't willing to try his luck and miss the boy's arm, instead aiming for a larger area.

No. No! It couldn't be possible! Calem couldn't feel any of his strength return to him after his last attack. He was just as battled and bruised as before. He knew he wouldn't last much longer. On the other hand, the other tribute seemed to only get stronger--and crazier. This newly-found power in the other boy was no natural thing; it could only be the result of whatever his feast item had been. Calem narrowed his eyes as Reko gave him a sick, deranged grin. "We couldn't be more different," he spat back at the other young man. "I'm not fighting for the glory of winning."
What little remaining hope that was within Calem was knocked out of his body once that sword hit his torso. Even through the layer of armor, it felt like Reko had stabbed a hole into his stomach. His free hand instinctively flew to his mid-area as if the gesture could help him stay on his feet. Calem smirked and glared at the Career, the previous fire now extinguished and turned into two chips of ice. He could taste blood in his mouth. "You said it yourself: let's end this and make it great." Squeezing the handle of his axe until his knuckles turned white, Calem followed the other boy's example and slashed his axe at Reko's torso for one final stand. He had a feeling that this would be his last attack. But that didn't mean he couldn't make the most out of it. Calem's voice lowered to a whisper as he neared the other tribute, "But don't forget that there's one more out there, and he'll kill you for me."

Why do you even bother? "You have no idea what I fight for. You have no idea about me at all!" Reko snapped at the other boy. Maybe he was going mad, but he knew the pain was disappearing. It was less and less now and he was liking it. Especially seeing the other boy starting to lose energy. He grinned more, staring the other boy down. He grinned more and moved closer. "Like I said, let's end it!" He laughed more, though stepped back and gave a very fake cringe of pain as the other boy swung for him once more. There was the anticipation of pain, but for some reason he didn't feel a single bit of it now. The boy laughed even more, shaking his head and looking to the sky. "This is just amazing!" He yelled, the feeling of being invincible got to him for sure. He couldn't think about anything but how strong he felt despite knowing he was injured and bleeding. He didn't get it, but he would take it. He'd thank whoever sent it if he was able to.
The young career grinned, about ready to swing fo Calem again when he started to feel the rumbling beneath them. "They really want it to end. And well.... I really don't think the brat from ten could take me. I am Reko, from District Two and I will be leaving this arena!" He yelled, moving much closer to Calem. "Good fight boy, better than the pathetic allies they gave me. Thank you." He grinned sickly, looking him in the eyes. He was still for a moment before he reached his sword up and swinging as hard as he could toward Calem's middle again to try and finish him. "It's a shame you had to go against me. Any other year I would have cheered you on. I like you." He whispered quietly with a grinning chuckle before he pulled his sword away from the other young man, just assuming the other boy was done for.

Why do you even bother? Reko pulled his sword away from the boy, looking to him. "Sure hope they grab you before their precious volcano goes" He shook his head and grinned some. "Sorry the odds weren't in your favor." He said quietly, twirling the sword in his uninjured hand. He would have lingered longer in his glory of the kill but he couldn't. Not with the shaking of the volcano below him. He wasn't brilliant. He was feeling invincible, but even invincible Reko knew better than to try his luck with a volcano. Even the big idiot wasn't that idiotic. He glanced for Calem's special axe, but as he felt a stronger rumble the young man took off running across one of the bridges. As fast as the large man could run but he was coming down from the high. The pill was wearing off... the thrill of making that kill he had been hoping for. Over a day now he had been dreaming of that kill. Now that it was done it just didn't seem as great. It wasn't as big, wasn't as massive of an accomplishment. He didn't like the fall. He didn't want to feel small again, he didn't want to feel like he was going to die again. He glanced back toward the Cornucopia, then made a final push to get across the bridge before the ground shook again and he fell into the burning magma below.

The places where Reko had hit Calem with the sword were burning, bleeding, and doing about anything else to cause the young man immense amounts of pain. Lunging towards the Career just made the highly concentrated areas begin to spread out and share the pain with the rest of his body. Little bursts of agony sprouted up everywhere, especially in his middle area and his right arm. Calem let out a groan and sank to his knees not too far from where Reko stood. "You're an open book. You Careers are all the same," Calem spat back at the other tribute, furious that he was in such a vulnerable position that it was not possible to get out of. His brown eyes stared straight into those of Reko as a stupid grin played on the other's face. A look filled with so much hatred and loathing, because Calem knew that his life was in Reko's hands. And those were not the hands you could trust to make a life or death decision on your behalf. "What else could have possibly been on your mind when you volunteered? Everyone knew you were just another cocky Career who promised a win." Calem didn't shrink back as Reko stepped towards him with more maniacal laughter or as he reveled in his soon-to-be kill. He still glared at Reko when the young man raised the sword. No backing down. Not until he was dead. He was going to go down doing whatever fighting he could, even if it couldn't be physically. The volcano beneath them rumbled and sent out a small tremor. The wave merely delayed Reko, but it was strong enough to send the weakened Calem to the ground. He laid there on his back, unable to do anything more than sit up slightly and rest on one elbow. If only death stares were literal. The District 7 tribute wanted so desperately to respond to Reko, but his throat wouldn't work. He was bleeding too much--both inside and out. His vision was starting to haze over with red as he met Reko's stare. The other young man split into two forms. Then four swords rose up above him. But only one gurgling scream came out of it. "It's a shame you had to go against me." "Any other year I would have cheered you on." "I like you." "NO!" Calem roared, leaping up. His eyes burst open and scanned the surrounding area. There was only darkness, pressing in on all sides, that prevented him from seeing Reko in front of him or the sky above or the volcano below. He looked down to inspect himself and found all his wounds cleaned and healed, but his pack and axe were gone. "Give them back!" the boy demanded into the darkness. His voice echoed around the void, bouncing off nonexistent walls and getting thrown back at him in louder and softer volumes. "No..." he whispered in disbelief, testing each part of his body for any sign of pain. Calem had been so willing to accept death when the pain was there and so little strength remained, but now that he was healed and full of energy, he wanted--no, needed--to get back out into the Arena to win the Games. But he knew that was not how death worked. "But...no...I can't be dead! My family needs me at home! Trevor needs me!" Calem pleaded with the darkness. "I need him..." The darkness around him then began to brighten and change and blur and transform, leading him to believe that his wish would actually be granted. The colors swirling around him began to sharpen and settle, but the place Calem was taken to was much different than what he had hoped for. He found himself within that tiny room of the Justice Building back in District 7 on the day of the Reaping, watching him and his family embrace and share last words. Did they know it would be their final exchange back then? Was Trevor crying because he knew his brother was going to die or because he was scared of getting his hopes crushed later on? His father's words came back as a slap in the face as Calem heard them spoken again, "You are our son, and we love you. We want you to come home." Calem let them down. Morgan had said that his family wanted him to come home, no matter the cost. His mind instantly flew back to the moment he let Matthias escape. He was even debating on whether to attack the young boy or not, but settled on not doing it. It was because attacking Matthias would have felt wrong. It would have been like attacking Trevor. And the dying girl had asked him to deliver the bracelet. The District 10 tribute just reminded Calem of his little brother so much, and seeing him brought the pain Calem had pushed aside in the Arena back to the front lines of his mind. The little deaf boy was instantly adored by the Capitol, and Calem was sure Trevor would have been too. They were both so young, honest, innocent, undeserving of the cruelty of the Games. Ever since Calem first saw Matthias, he had seen something within him and avoided him the rest of the week because of it. The night of the interviews had only proved his concerns. If he could not attack Matthias when he had the chance, how on earth was Calem going to kill him if things had played out that way? With this admission, the room dissolved back into darkness. Calem looked around, unsure of what to do now. A few moments later, colors began to materialize and take shape again. This time, he had less resolve to get back into the Arena--accepted his fate but not yet completely. The earthy, natural colors of the greens and browns were comforting. Calem almost let himself be fooled, but it was not going to happen again. He knew he was not safe, because this was not his forest but the rather the Capitol's. It was rich and lush, so he was in a memory before fires devoured all the life. "Calem!" an all-too-familiar voice shouted from behind the trees. "Ariadne! Ariadne, run! Mutts!" came his own voice from somewhere else, echoing throughout the forest and combining with the buzzing of the bees and Ariadne's call to form a haunting melody. Would he not have been able to kill her either? Calem tried to run to escape the bees, but his legs would not cooperate. He looked up and could see millions of tiny black dots plunging down towards him. Right when the first sting came, the dream or memory or whatever it was melted away into blackness once again. As expected, the colors returned within seconds and began to form whatever that was in store for Calem next. "No, stop it!" Calem shouted, and the colors froze. He sighed, looked down to his feet, and said, "I know I can't go back." After a few seconds, the colors all began moving and centralizing at one point in front of him. They then started glowing, drawing Calem's attention towards them. There stood a door, shining like it was a star to light up the darkness. He reached out cautiously to turn the knob, and behind the door was a bright, white light. The young man didn't want to be in the darkness any longer, so he stepped eagerly into the whiteness to see what awaited him. Calem was closer to the ground than he remembered. Did the trees in District 7 get taller all of a sudden? Why were his hands so...tiny...? Why was his whole body so tiny? "Caaalliieee!" a voice called out to him. He looked around for the source of the voice and saw a younger version of Ariadne peeking out from behind a tree. "I'm gonna get you for that!" he shouted and took off running after Ariadne. His voice was joyful instead of angry. He was a kid again! Once he was done playing with kid-Ariadne, the door reappeared. Calem opened it, though he had to stand on his toes in order to reach the knob, and stepped through again. He found himself being a little bit older and taller, and with his father out in the forest--the day Morgan first taught Calem how to use an axe. Once that memory was over, he found the door again and stepped into a day he had spent with Trevor in the forest. After he was satisfied with his time in each memory, the doors kept on arriving so that he could relive whichever memory he wanted whenever he wanted to.
WC: 1453 Hehe, I seem to have a thing with posting things late at night and then getting tired and messing them up. :D First off, thank you to everyone on this site for just being here! I love every person so much, and things would be so different without you! I value my friendships with each and every person here, and even though some people may say that internet friends are not real friends, we all know that they are so wrong! I hope we can all stay here and help the site to thrive and grow and blossom into an even more amazing roleplay! You are truly amazing, person reading this! Yay, so many exclamation points! Thank you to Rebecca and Ariadne because Calem has no friends you two just helped me and Calem so much! You've been my plotting buddy since I made him and wanted to thread with someone and all throughout the Games, even after Ari died and you still had Math to play. He really treasured his friendship with her after they remembered that they were friends when they were little, and she taught him that not all girls are weak or fragile, though he realized it just a little too late. Playing them together was just so fun! But he still feels really bad and responsible for Ari's death, so a meeting at the ghost pub may be in order. ;3 Also really looking forward to a Trevor and Cypress thread, too! Quick thanks to Mahalia as well for sponsoring Calem and being a really awesome character. Thank you to Cyr for being so nice and just putting up with me. cx Reko and Calem had a really good fight, and I'm so sorry Reko died right after it ended. =c Hehe, I think some pub fights are also in order! I will try to bake some more bread puns for you, too! lol that was a failThank you to Tristan for offering to trib-sit Calem while I was gone at camp. If you hadn't offered, I would have been so worried and not enjoyed the experience at all. You have no idea how much I appreciated it. Also, thank you for making such a sweet, happy girl in Basil and really making me and Calem feel bad for killing her. Basil has permission to punch him in the ghost pub if she wants to! Thank you to Sydney and Johanna for being a mentor that challenged Calem, and also sponsored him even though she didn't really like him! I can just imagine the arguing or complete ignoring of each other they did during the week they were in the Capitol together. Thank you to Eileen for hosting such an amazing Games and being a really great admin for this site! None of us would be here if it weren't for you, and I'm I'm so grateful for everything you do for this site! Also, a thank you to Dominic for sponsoring Calem, despite his jealousies (;3) and even after Ariadne had died. Thank you to Matti, Sydney, Trist, Ice, Vera, Naomi, Rebecca, and Cyr for being just awesome people in general and having your awesome tributes be in the Games. They were all such amazing characters that make me really wish everyone could win the Hunger Games! A special thank you to Nuk for introducing me to this site and being such a good friend for over a year and a half! :)
