Miles H. Kelley NICKNAMES: Miles
AGE: 21
GENDER: Male
RESIDENCE: District 7
OCCUPATION: Dancer
SPECIAL INFO: for the Dark Days Musical plot
FACE CLAIM: Ansel Elgort
PLAYER ALIAS: Madi Strengths || Resourceful, determined, charismatic
Weaknesses || Resentful, afraid of commitment, disingenuous
Fears || Losing people
Overall || Miles had to fend for himself from a very young age, so he's very adaptable to difficult situations. Even in the worst of circumstances, he knows how to play a part and put a smile on his face. His survival depended on performing, after all, so he knows how to work a crowd and be upbeat, even when he doesn't feel it. Sometimes that works for him, but sometimes it's a coping mechanism to cover up his real feelings, so he can come across as fake or trying too hard. Underneath the happy act, he's very resentful of the Dark Days and the rebellion for taking away his father. He covers up the anger well, but it's still there bubbling beneath the surface. He's lost most everyone he was close to, so he's hesitant to become attached to people. Although he can talk to people easily and put up a good front, he rarely forms real relationships with people for fear that they will be taken away, too.

History || Miles was the only child born to Jack and Katherine Kelley about a decade before the Dark Days. He never knew his mother, who died in childbirth, but he was always very close with his father. Growing up, he wanted to be just like him, and went with him to the forest outside the district as soon as he was old enough to be of use. At the time, laborers were allowed to move outside the borders of the district to gather lumber. What the Capitol didn't know however was that this had fostered a group of rebels with plenty of flexibility to move in and out of the district at will. Miles father had been a rebel, and recruited him to help at a young age. While he never allowed his son to go near the violence, Miles did become a messenger for the rebels, meeting others at set rendezvous points beyond the borders of the district. Miles at the age of twelve was simply following in his father's footsteps once again. His father was a rebel and hated the Capitol, so Miles did too. He had no way of knowing then that he a part of one of the largest spy rings during the rebellion.
A few years into the war however, Miles life would be changed forever. His father was sent on a mission away from the district, where they were sure to encounter Capitol soldiers. Knowing it would be too dangerous, he made Miles stay behind. By the end of the day, everyone who had gone on the mission was dead, but the rebels had planned for that to happen. They had sent a volunteer force in what would amount to a suicide mission in order to keep the Capitol's forces distracted from another force of rebels as they moved on their real target. While the mission was ultimately a success, Miles never forgave the rebels for allowing his father to sacrifice himself for their cause.
He left the rebellion, but because he had been with the rebels since he was a child, had no skills with which to get a job. Having no other family and no way to make money, he soon became homeless. The rebellion that had taken him and his father in gave him no support now that he was no longer willing to work for them, and he was left to fend for himself. He found the solution to his problem in performing. As one of the most rebellious districts, District 7 was heavily damaged and found itself the center of conflict and violence more than a few times. It was a bleak existence during the Dark Days, and people were willing to pay for the distraction dance and music brought them. Miles was only a street performer, but he made enough money to keep himself from starving.
Now the Dark Days were over and Panem was trying to put itself back together again. Many people were hopeful now that the fighting was over and they had the chance to rebuild, but Miles had lost everything to the rebellion. There was nothing to keep him in District 7, so he knew he had to take the chance when he found a flyer advertising upcoming auditions for a Dark Days travelling musical. Many of the people who had sided with the rebels might look down on him for leaving his home to travel with capitolites and their allies, but Miles had no loyalty left to the rebels. He had lost friends, family, and everything of his old life to the rebellion. He was willing to do anything to get out of his district and finally leave behind his lonely life and his memories of the Dark Days.
