Here is a map to help you determine which area your tribute will do their best in. Your tributes scores will not only be based on their training post, but also WHICH training they choose to do based on their district. (Disregard what it says about Fishing in D10.) This training is based on a forest/plains like environment. Districts D1, D2, D3, D5, D6, D8 can participate in this, but will not receive as high of a score as the other Districts because they are not set in this environment and instead more like concrete jungles. This training has 4 areas: fishing, trapping, hunting, and plant identification. Each area counts as ONE training. HOWEVER, if your tribute is in a district with an "advantage" listed below, your tribute can choose TWO survival areas with their advantage ALONG with another training area in one of the different training areas. (In short: non-careers can have 2 survival & 1 other training area. D1, D2, & D4 careers can have 2 areas, 2 weapon specialties, & 1 survival training.
Keep in mind that if your district does not have an advantage here, they will have a lower score than someone who has a District advantage. D4, D11 have an advantage here because they are the only districts directly allowed to have access to water: 1) The first area is a contained environment which consists of a large pool of water with fish inside. This is were you train how to fish. You have a spear, a trident, and a net to use. However, you may also use your bare hands. Note that if you have experience in spears, tridents, or nets, you cannot use them. D7, D9, D10, D11, D12 have an advantage here:
2) The second area is forested. It is separated into two training areas. On one side, you can train how to make traps for small creatures such as rabbits and squirrels. On the other side, you can learn to hunt small to medium creatures such as rabbits, squirrels, deer, and birds. Note that your tribute must have a hunting weapon (bow/arrow, or throwing spear) in order to hunt. D7, D9, D10, D11, D12 have an advantage here: 3) The third area is also forested and contains many different plants-- fruits and vegetables. This area trains in identifying different plants to allow knowledgeable tributes in what they can gather to eat. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS, ASK EILEEN.

Cameron had no honest idea of what he wanted to do as he stepped into the training center, but the thing he did know was that it'd be something that'd remind him of home. Well, since the survival stations three parts ALL reminded him of home- he decided to go with it. Walking over, there seemed to be four choices. Hunting, Trapping, Fishing, and Plant Identification. He'd be fine with Identification for now, but fishing would have to work for now. Walking over to the station, his instructor had given him a spear, trident, and a net. Though, Cameron was pretty sure he could use his hands too. As he got to the area where he'd start his training, he pulled up his sleeves knowing he'd probably get a little bit wet. He placed the net and spear down, deciding that the trident would make the easiest fishing tool besides a fishing rod itself. At first, it seemed the fish were going easy on him. He'd get one or two every other minute, but as time progressed, it got harder. It was almost like they could sense him, and right as he started to bring his trident down the fish would scram away. This was meant to happen, obviously. Fish aren't that easy to catch, he didn't understand how the people from four did it so frequently and still caught fish on a daily basis. After getting the hang of it, he decided he should try catching them with a net. After some quick pointers from the instructor, he had thrown the net out and let it settle and wait a little bit. The instructor said to wait a couple minutes than to slowly pull it out after making sure the way they got in was closed tight enough to where they couldn't get back out. As he was doing so, the weight seemed to be a little heavy and Cameron was surprised at the amount. It was time for him to leave the fishing station, and move onto hunting.
As he grabbed a bow and quiver full of arrows, he wasn't so sure how he would do for his first try. But, he still went and started out. He made light footsteps, trying not to scare away animals as easily he did back at home. As he was tiptoeing through the small forest set up for them to train, he saw a small rabbit. Taking his chance, he tried to shoot at it. Pulling an arrow out of his quiver, placing it on the bow and pulling back on the string he took a deep breath. He let go. Unfortunately for him, he barely missed and scared away the arget. Sighing, he had walked around and shot a couple more. Gaining skill slightly, but he wasn't the best by the time he decided to be done with it and leave. At least he can fish, right?

The female tribute for District Four walking into the Training Center. She had officially had the chance to get over her shock of being picked from that bowl by her Escort. Her stylist had helped her look her best in the parade, making her seem beautiful while also appearing deadly. The other Tribute and herself were now waiting on a strategy plan on how they each will do their interviews as well as how they will be portrayed in order to get sponsors in the Games. Seasrai had no doubt that both of them would make it out of the bloodbath when the Games started. Careers always did.
Seasrai looked around at the other Tributes, simply observing what the others were doing for a little while. She was the last one to arrive, late by at least an hour or two. Her stylist team and escort had to make a fuss over something about how they were upset over the other Tribute leaving on his own to get to the Training Center first. Personally, Seasri didn't give a crap. They were going to kill each other anyway. And she was never one to make friends.
Speaking of killing each other, that particular aspect of the Games was a hard one to swallow but she would do whatever it took to survive. Her family would be proud of her no matter what and was already trying to make peace with the fact that she would never return to them again, even if she did win the Games; Seasrai Durrain would never be the same. See, that was another thing, she knew she could win. In fact, she was thinking of her own personal plan to win the Games as she watched the others train.
She would be smart if she used these precious few days to train in her weaknesses instead of her strengths. She knew how to make nets and traps for fish and even some small land creatures. She also knew how to make her own spears and hooks for fishing, so she knew how to hit a moving target with excellent accuracy. This fisherwoman had only been doing it her entire life. Though she did have to admit that she had no idea how good her fellow Tribute was. She'd have to find out in order to stake out her competition.
So that left her weaknesses, which in her personal opinion were not that many according to the Games. Her weakness of not making friends easily would only really hurt her in gaining Sponsors but hey, that's what her arsenal of pretty frou-frous were for. That left her weakness of survival, particularly her knowledge of edible plants versus poisonous plants.
Seasrai Durrain headed towards the survival area, completely ignoring the other Tributes; they would all be dead soon anyway. There were three different sections, one for fishing, one for traps, and the other for plants. Oh goody, fun times, fun times. Well, lets get to it. Seasrai went into the plant section of the survival area.
She was immediately overwhelmed by how many scents and different kinds of plants there were. How am I going to remember all of these! Seasrai almost turned around and walked out, taking it as a lost cause. But it could very well be that difference between life or death for Seasrai in these stupid Games depending on if she knew what was good to eat or what would kill her instantly. So the fisherwoman stayed and decided that the best course of action would be to start with everything that was not leaf-like and green. She went to the berries and proceeded to get to know each one as well as their differences in size, shape, and color. She instantly noticed that blueberries and nightlock berries exactly the same and she couldn't tell them apart. The girl smelled each of them, tried to tell the differences in the clumps, and even smooshed them between her fingers. Finally, she got to where she thought she could tell the difference between the two, hopefully.
She then moved onto other berries and the different kinds of edible fruit and whatever else might be in the Arena of her Games. With these, she figured it would be easier to remember which ones she could eat versus the ones that she couldn't eat. When she finally finished at least looking at all of them, rather than studying them; Seasrai went to the rest of the massive amounts of leaf-like and grass-like plants. This time around, she noticed that there was a lot fewer deadly/poisonous ones than deadly ones. The Tribute spent the rest of the time actually studying the differences between the bad ones and how they differed from the good plants. After a few hours, Seasrai found that she no longer felt overwhelmed by the immense amount of plants and vegetation anymore. She did know that she would forget at least half of these by the next day though, so she would make an effort to continue to study different plants and edibles in her spare time outside of the Training Center. Maybe with any luck, when it came time to enter the Arena, Seasrai Oceana Durrain would actually be able to choose the correct plants that would allow her to live instead of instantly killing her or even worse, give her a slow death.

It was the third day of training, and Ariadne knew she needed more than fighting skills to make it out of these Games alive. She had been raised to be a resourceful girl, but with the Games now so close, she had an alacrity to fit all the training she could into this last day. Her first stop was the survival training station.
Ariadne chose the second area first, and after thinking about it a moment, settled on learning traps. Since she had no experience with long range weapons, traps would most likely be an easier skill to gain. Plus, they'd be more useful; traps could work for humans just as well as game if she needed. She was thinking about that as she followed her trainer into the area and stopped completely a few paces in. The reality of the forest took her breath away. It was only a simulation, but it brought on an overwhelming wave of homesickness. She missed the first part of what the trainer said as she looked around her, taking it all in. Visually and aurally, it was so similar to home. The only things missing were the smells of rich earth and damp leaves, or the sound of her father's crew working a few paces off.
She snapped back to reality when the trainer yelled her name again. "Sorry," she muttered. Focus, Ariadne. This is no time to get emotional. Visibly shaking it off, she forced herself to focus on what the trainer was teaching her. It was a basic trap for small game using sticks and vine. He talked her through how to set it up, and she put her concentration on that and nothing else. After the first one was complete, she built a couple more to make sure she got the hang of it. As she finished her third, a holographic rabbit got itself caught in her first trap. She went to inspect it, surprised at how fully it was caught in the trap. She had never had to catch her own food before, but this looked like an incredibly useful method. She untangled the squirming rabbit from his trap, and this was the part where in the arena, she would have to kill it and cook it. Looking at the little fake bunny, she knew she could do it if she had to, but didn't look forward to it. The trainer ran her through a few more traps which she practiced as well, either variations of the first trap or ones specific to different types of animals.
For her second survival training, she chose the third area and plant identification. This time the forest didn't catch her so off guard so she could immediately focus on what she was being taught. This area would be more familiar to her, since she had learned a lot about the plants in her forest back home over time. When she'd spend entire days in the forest, it had been helpful to know what she could eat, which plants would give her rashes and how to find them. A lot of those things she had learned when she was too young to work, picking at things in the forest and testing them out. She was smart enough not to eat anything she didn't know, but she'd once picked a bunch of poison ivy because the leaves were pretty. She'd been itching for weeks after that.
There was a lot more variety in plant life in the training, but she started by refreshing herself with the plants she did know. She picked out the berries and leafy greens she recognized and pointed out the ones she had been told could make you sick, or worse. It was a decent plant base she could recognize, but in the wide array of plants here, it looked so small. She turned to her trainer after that, taking in everything he told her about the rest of the plants and trying to commit them to memory. Then he let her practice sorting them on a kind of screen into edible and inedible plants, as well as which ones might have some medicinal value. Her first sorting was a little shaky with all of the new plants, but she ran through the sorting several more times in an attempt to get it right.
The training complete, Ariadne walked away feeling a little better about her chances of survival.

On the second day of training, Matthias made his way over to the survival station. For a little while, he just watched some of the other tributes to see how they were doing. It had always been the way he tried to figure out how to act - by watching others. Aside from Jackson, few people had helped him with anything, which left observation as his only and best option.
The detection station had come easy to him, but survival was different. He had been lucky enough to always have a home to come back to in ten, even if he didn’t always feel welcome there. And while he had thought occasionally of running off on his own, had never gotten close to actually trying it. He had known that as a deaf kid, he wouldn’t last long even in familiar territory. But as a hearing kid in an arena full of tributes? Who knows. He would do the best he could to raise his chances there.
The boy chose the second area of the station for his first training, and it wasn’t hard to pick traps out of his two choices. It was hard enough to fathom killing a living creature as it was, and if they gave him a bow or a spear, he would surely just freeze and be useless. He didn’t think he could ever kill anything, animal or person, but this wasn’t a killing station. Just traps. He could just build things to trap animals and deal with the rest in the arena. Maybe he could make some alliance with another tribute, and they could kill whatever he caught. Until that alliance killed him, anyway.
Shuddering, the boy walked into the second area with his trainer. Like his second detection training, this area was forested and seemed so real. That made him all the more nervous. He hoped, anyway, that this was just trapping and the trainer didn’t expect him to actually hurt anything – even if it was holographic. Putting his attention on the trainer, he listened attentively as the trainer walked him through the first trap. It was just sticks and twigs, harmless things on their own, so the boy had no problem putting it together. He kept glancing at the trainer as he worked, even though his hearing was on low. The oral words still took a little time to translate in his brain, and he was so used to having to watch people speak anyway.
The trainer had to help him fix a part of the trap he had done wrong, and then Matthias started building another one for more practice. He kept getting distracted during his second trap though, because a squirrel was skittering around his first trap. He would glance at it, go back to making his trap, and glance at it again. When he was starting on his third trap, the squirrel was snatched up and caught in his first. The boy visibly jumped. The squirrel shook and scrambled at the vine that held him, trying desperately to get free. It even made little chirping noises that just broke his heart. It’s not a real squirrel, it’s just fake… he told himself. But he couldn’t concentrate on traps anymore. He put is back to the squirrel and told his trainer he wanted to move on to the next part.
The next station Matthias picked was plant identification, which he was more than ready to give his attention to. He wouldn’t have to make anything suffer here. Like traps, he didn’t know much about plants to start except for the few he had encountered to feed the animals back home. He knew a few things that were good for them, so should be fine for him to eat, and a couple that had made them sick whenever they got into it. After that, he watched and listened as his trainer explained each of the plants that were left, which was a lot of them. It was actually really interesting to him, and the plants were easy to commit to memory based on their distinct colors and shapes. He loved this kind of learning, and the trainer was surprisingly nice as he explained everything to the boy.
When they moved on to the next section of this training, Matthias eagerly started sorting out the plants. Most of it was easy, but he struggled a little near the end. He asked the trainer to describe the ones that were left again for him, and when he did the test the second time, he got each and every one in its proper category. The boy smiled. Maybe he could just go entirely vegetarian for the Games and be just fine. He wouldn’t have to hurt a single living thing. Except…for everyone else he went in with. But he wasn’t about to let the other tributes ruin this for him right now, and he did the sorting once more to just be sure he got it all.
When he was done, the simulation ended and Matthias thanked his trainer with a smile on his face. People here were so much nicer than they were back home, and the trainer hadn’t immediately thought he was incapable of doing well like most people. He felt like he really got a lot out of this station…and just hoped he never had to trap anything in the arena.
