I can hear the bells and 'Til death do us part and Even when we die, we'll look down from above Remembering the night we two fell in love.
Ophelia sighed softly to herself as she made her way back up to the front door of her home. She stood outside for a minute, attempting to collect herself. She understood that wedding planning was generally the woman's job, but it didn't mean that she didn't want Kai's input. They weren't Fara and Garrus, who simply didn't care as long as the wedding went perfectly and made them look good. She wanted every minor detail to be perfect not so that it would make them look good, but because Kai was the one that she intended on spending the rest of her life with. She wanted him to have a say in what happened that day, so the fact that she felt so alone in the planning tore her apart. She had gone to her family's garden, a little place that not even Kai knew about, and cleared her head about the whole thing. She knew that even though he didn't seem as interested as she hoped he was that he still loved her and that he still wanted to be with her. Well, at least she hoped that was the case. She couldn't hold the wedding planning, or lack thereof, against him. So she made sure that there were no traces of mascara on her face from her frustrated crying session and walked into the house. "I'm home," she called out to him. When there was no response, she pursed her lips before setting her things down by the door and making her way through the house. "Are you home?" she asked out into what appeared to be an empty house. When she still received no response, she groaned before going to the staircase and making her way upstairs. She thought about the possibilities of what was happening. He could have left to go find her, but they both knew that she would always come back home to him at the end of the day. He could be giving her the silent treatment since she left, but that was very unlikely because Ophelia would not take it well and make sure it came back to bite him one day. He could just be taking a nap, which was still unlikely because they had more important things to do than sleep. So as her mind raced with going through different possibilities, she walked down the corridor and was suddenly brought out of her thoughts as she heard his voice coming from behind his closed study door. She walked over to the door and pressed her ear to it, trying to listen in on the conversation that was going on. She picked up something about flowers and how he didn't understand the difference between options. She raised her eyebrow as she listened before letting it click in her brain. Once it had clicked, a smile spread on her face and she walked into his study and over to him. She took the phone from his hands and said into it, "We'll let you know our decision soon. Thank you for your time." She hung up the phone and then looked at him. "I see you tried planning part of the wedding after all."

It's a love story for the new age Kai sat at the table, scratching the back of his neck as he looked at Ophelia’s notes. He knew that she was verging on overwhelmed with the wedding planning. Each time he tried to help, he instead felt like he was slowing her down. Kai always had so many questions. ”What baker are we using?” “Why do we have to reserve a venue so soon?” “Who pays for the catering?” “What is the purpose of an assistant planner?” He was positive that she had a vision for the wedding. After all, he felt as if it had been a long held dream of hers. Both she and Fara were getting married around the same time, and he knew how important it was to her for the wedding to be the event of the year. While she was away, he decided that it would be best for him to try to help out. That way, he wouldn’t be causing any unnecessary problems for her. That’s when he’d encountered The Notebook. Ophelia had purchased it to keep notes on her plans. While he could tell it was highly organized, he could not read a single word. Ophelia’s writing was beautiful, loopy, and feminine, but unintelligible to him. Kai narrowed his eyes. He turned the paper to the right. Then to the left. He leaned it back. Kai frowned at the paper. How was he supposed to help if he couldn’t read the notes?
Kai bit his lip as he flipped through the pages, wondering how he hadn’t ever noticed her unique handwriting before. All of his plans for the day centered around his deciphering of the words, but the longer he tried, the more like a lost cause it seemed. Finally, with a sigh, he gave up on the notebook, closing the cover. He stared at it on the counter, feeling defeated. That was, of course, until he remembered that he’d been the one to locate the contact information for the florist. Kai stood from his chair, determined to do at least something to help Ophelia. He made his way to his study where he dialed the number he found written in his own, much more legible handwriting. On the other side of the line, a woman’s voice answered.
He explained that his fiancée was placing an ongoing order with them, that he was calling to help in the continuation of the process. Automatically, the woman launched into descriptions of arrangements, using complicated scientific names to refer to flowers he’d never heard of before. Kai plucked his handheld from his pocket, attempting to search the flowers for any sort of clarification before realizing that he couldn’t even spell there names. He was in over his head. ”So, what’s the difference between the package C and package D?” he asked for the second time, massaging his temples with his fingertips. Before she could fully respond, his door opened and Ophelia entered. She plucked the phone from his hands, quickly ending the call. He smiled sheepishly at her. ”Yeah, sure did,” he admitted. ”But you see how that went. I really haven’t any idea how you do it all, especially with me bothering you about it twenty four seven.” He laughed a little, comforted by the smile on her face. He’d seen her upset before, and that was certainly not an emotion he’d want to invoke in her, especially not during the wedding planning. Words:617 Tags:@ophelia Notes:No, it was great! Sorry for the ramble here - I’m trying to settle in to his character

I can hear the bells and 'Til death do us part and Even when we die, we'll look down from above Remembering the night we two fell in love.
Ophelia's notebook was like a bible to her. Written throughout the entire journal were plans for not only her wedding, but Fara's as well. In her mind, it was clearly organized as to which wedding was which. It held all of her ideas on themes, the good and the bad ones, and it also held all of her ideas on every minuscule detail. She never paid much attention to the legibility of her handwriting when it came to the journal though. Who else was going to read it besides her? So in that journal was also her shorthand she had come up with for different parts of the wedding. Not a single person would know what was going through her mind by looking at that paper, and that was okay with her. She wanted to talk through ideas and explain her reasoning behind choices, whether or not the person she was talking to understood what she was talking about. She looked down at her fiancé and just shook her head, chuckling softly before sitting on the corner of his desk. "I guess it's just a talent that I was born with. Maybe if this whole future vice-president thing works out, I can get a job in wedding planning," she teased before grinning as she leaned back and looked at him. "So I'm assuming that you were on the phone with the florist. The difference between Package C and Package D is very simple. Package C uses roses as the main flower and orchids as an accent, while Package D uses orchids as the main flower with roses as an accent." She pursed her lips in thought as she considered the two packages in her mind before looking at him. "But I personally think that we should lean towards Package C because roses have always been my favorite. It just makes sense." She grinned before bopping her shoulders a bit. "Unless, of course, your family would prefer the orchids. I mean, I don't think they would mind either way honestly, but if they absolutely hate roses then we can go with Package D and have minimal roses." She sighed softly before shaking her head, burying her face in her hands before looking back up at her fiancé. She gave him a little pout before sighing softly. "I'm sorry. I think the wedding planning has driven me a little crazy. Planning one wedding is hard enough, but planning two is near impossible." She chuckled before looking back down at her lap, placing her hands there. That was something she worried about. She worried that with her getting so consumed in planning the weddings, more so Fara and Garrus' than theirs, that it would build a wall between them. She knew that she was very meticulous and detail-oriented, and that when she didn't get thing done perfectly that it drove her near the brink of insanity. She worried that he would take her planning two weddings as a way to distract herself from planning theirs, which was not what she intended at all. It was simply that she wanted to do something for Fara to help take some of the stress off of her, so she offered to plan her wedding on top of her own. Ophelia came back to reality from her thoughts and looked back up at him, reaching and taking one of his hands and holding it in her own. "You know, we're going to have to pick a baker eventually and go try a lot of different cakes," she said with a grin. "I think that's something you'll be able to help me out with. You have the best taste in everything. I mean, you picked me," she teased lightly before laughing softly.

It's a love story for the new age Kai smiled back at Ophelia, listening attentively as she explained the differences. ”You’ve assumed correctly,” he responded. ”It was the only legible number in your notebook,” he teased. Kai showingly reach forward, collecting a piece of paper and a pen from his desk, his hand brushing by her leg as he did so. As if to prove a point, he started his own notes, heading the paper with “FLORIST”, written in all impeccably neat capital letters, followed by the number he’d just dialed. Below the heading, he wrote Package C, ending the last letter with a little flourish. He did this with a grin on his face the whole time directed at Ophelia. Her handwriting was something he’d always joked about with her, though always with a light heart. Kai grinned. ”You’re absolutely doing Fara a huge favor. I’m sure she’ll have to get you a very nice gift.’” He paused for a second, attempting seriousness while his grin only widened. ”Like a calligraphy class.”
She was quiet for a moment, and he felt a wave of sympathy for her. Ophelia always worked so hard to make others happy, and she almost always delivered. ”If anyone can do it,” he told her in complete honesty, ”it’s you. I’m sure that your hard work will really pay off.” Kai’s softened a little more. ”Our wedding will be fantastic, I’m positive.” Just as he started to reach to take her hand, she took one of his. He squeezed her small hand, intertwining his fingers with hers.
Kai laughed at her comment. ”Yes, I’d definitely agree there.” He’d dated a few girls before her. They’d all been beautiful, but none were nearly as interesting as her. ”So we’ll let me handle the tasting, yeah?” he joked, laughing. When he first proposed to Ophelia, he hadn’t thought about any of the planning at all. He’d been so fortunate that she’d dove in the deep end with everything, taking control and planning out their big day. ”Though I’m pretty sure that you may have picked me instead.”

I can hear the bells and 'Til death do us part and Even when we die, we'll look down from above Remembering the night we two fell in love.
Ophelia rolled her eyes in response to her fiancé's words, waving her hand as she looked at him with a smile. "My handwriting is perfectly legible to the one person it should be; me." She watched as he started his own set of notes for their big day, chuckling softly to herself as she looked at him. She loved the way that they constantly teased one another, especially when it was over the silly and unimportant things like her handwriting. She glanced down at his paper before giving him a faux solemn look and pointing to his handwriting. "Kai, I don't think I can read that. It's way too messy," she said in a serious tone before laughing. She listened to his statement and shrugged, giving him a smirk before playfully swatting his arm at his suggestion of a gift. "We all know that Fara would still give us the best wedding present, even if she was planning her own wedding. She wouldn't let anyone else possibly be the best at something. Not that anyone really could be better than her at most things."When she felt his finger intertwine with hers, she let out a sigh of mixed relief and happiness. She looked into his eyes and gave him a small smile before bringing his hand to her lips and kissing his fingers lightly. "I love that you always have faith in me. And that you support me in everything I do. It's something I appreciate, even if I fail to tell you it a lot of the time," she said with a smile on her face as she looked at him. Kai knew Ophelia's past relationships, and he also knew that she had been engaged before him. The difference this time, however, was that she was completely and utterly happy. She was second-guessing herself and wondering if choosing to marry Kai was the right decision. She just knew that it was him. He was her person. She laughed at his response before smirking. "I mean, I obviously get to approve what you decide since I'm the head planner on this. But you might get an opinion," she teased before raising her brow at him. "Please enlighten me on how I picked you instead."

The sound of Ophelia’s laugh brought a large smile to Kai’s face. He loved to tease her and joke. A problem he’d found in too many people is that they were too damned serious sometimes. It was so much more fun to lighten up and not take yourself too seriously, and Ophelia could do just that. Really, he thought, it was one of the main reasons why he enjoyed being with her so much. He raised an eyebrow just a bit at her comment on Fara. Everyone thought that Fara was perfect, the best at absolutely everything. And, in many cases, she probably was. Fara had the perfectionist, go-getter attitude, but that didn’t mean that other people weren’t just as good. ”I don’t know…” he said, smiling gently at her, ”you’re pretty good at a whole lot, don’t you think?” Kai hated it when she sold herself short in comparison to Fara, because she was just as good, if not better.
Kai exhaled a breath as she kissed his hand. She grounded him. In moments like this, he knew that he absolutely made the right choice when he asked her to marry him. ”It’s my favorite thing to do in the whole world,” he promised her, and it truly was.
He smiled a bit, laughing at her joking about her picking him. He knew that she’d been engaged before, so obviously decisions would be made there, but it wasn’t something that he could bring up. ”You could have said no - and thank Snow you didn’t - and Panem knows that there would have been others waiting to ask.” There still were, he was sure. ”But don’t get any ideas or anything,” he joked, ”because now, you’re stuck with me forever. Once you said yes, you chained yourself to me!” Kai laughed. ”I hope you made a decision you’re happy with, but I’m sure that you did, since you have such good taste.” Kai smiled cheekily up at her, squeezing her hand a little with his. I can hear the bells and 'Til death do us part and Even when we die, we'll look down from above Remembering the night we two fell in love.
It had taken Ophelia a while to be able to bring herself to laugh again. After her parents died, absolutely nothing made her want to laugh. Her heart was broken in ways that she had never imagined possible. But when she met Kai, he didn't see the new Ophelia that everyone else saw; he just saw her. Slowly but surely, she found herself laughing harder with him than she ever had in her life. She knew that he was the one because he didn't see the need to fix her; he just embraced her as she was and loved her for who she had become versus who she was before the death of her parents. The arching of his eyebrow didn't go by unnoticed as she raised her brow at him in response. She pondered over his question before shrugging her shoulders as she looked down. "I guess I'm pretty good at planning events. But I always came up second in comparison to Fara. I'm used to it by now. She really is the best at everything. Otherwise it'd be pretty difficult for her to become the next president of Panem."The blonde smiled as he stated that supporting her was his favorite thing in the world to do, and she squeezed his hand lightly before looking at him. "I am so in love with you, Kai Mykonos. Just in case you ever begin to doubt that. I love you more than anything else in this world."She smiled and then pursed her lips as she shrugged. "I could have said no, that's very true. But have you seen yourself? Everyone would be questioning why I would have said no to someone like you." She laughed and then shook her head. "I don't think anyone else would have asked me. I think they'd be too scared that I'd reject them if I had rejected someone as wonderful and perfect as you." She grinned before leaning in and pressing a kiss to his lips softly before laughing quietly. "Trust me when I say that there is absolutely no one else I would rather be stuck with for the rest of time. Just as long as you don't start questioning your decision to propose. And if you do start questioning it, I want you to tell me because I want you to be happy. You, of all people, deserve to be happy. And if I stop making you happy, then I want you to find happiness."

In every sense of the word, Kai was truly lucky. When he was very young, his grandma told him that in the times before the Dark Days, some people believed in something that they called “karma.” She told him that “karma” was the belief that your actions always came back to you: if you did good, good things would happen to you, or, worse, if you did bad, bad things would happen to you. Growing up, Kai learned that was shit. Being engaged to Ophelia shattered any inch of belief Kai had in the concept. Really, it seemed incredibly unfair that someone like him - someone who was the son of a precious stone smuggler, who watched as guests at his parents’ home were served tainted drinks when they got in the way, who even allowed another to suffer in his place - was able to snag such a lovely fiancée. Both heaven and hell aligned so easily for Kai.
When she mentioned the possibility of him questioning the proposal, Kai exhaled a laugh. He picked up his phone from his lap and laid it on the desk beside Ophelia, then stood up in front of her. ”Don’t be morbid, Ophelia. I can’t ever imagining anyone making me this happy.” Once, he found it almost comedic how much she believed in his goodness as a person. From the very beginning, it seemed that she viewed him in a much, much better state than he was in. Ophelia seemed so sure of his character and goodness. Of course, it wasn’t as if he was going to tell her otherwise. After a short while, he actually found it endearing.
Standing in front of her now, Kai stepped forward and wrapped an arm around her back, then placed the other beside her leg on the table. Kai leaned forward and kissed the spot between the jaw and the bottom of her ear. “I love you, too,” he whispered into her ear, then moved back to kiss her again. Kai pulled on the base of her back to draw her closer to him. “And, if we’re talking about wanting to be happy…”
Just then, his phone started ringing on the table. He groaned and reach to silence it with one hand.
Quiet filled the room again. Kai slid his hand up onto her thigh and kissed her again, this time on the lips. Just as he began to fully immerse himself in it, the phone rang again. Kai pulled back, recognizing the tone. It was his father, and he wouldn’t stop calling until Kai answered.
“I”m sorry,” he apologized. Kai placed a quick kiss on her cheek. ‘It’s my father, I’ll have to take this.” With that, he slid a hand down her thigh and picked up his phone, answering it as he stepped out of the room.

There was so much about Kai that just made sense to Ophelia. She didn't know much about his history, other than the fact that he worked with his father and was Fara's cousin, but that wasn't what was important to her. There was nothing that he could have done that was anywhere as close the things that she had done before in the name of the Capitol. She saw the traits in Kai that she knew she wanted in a husband, and he was one of few who didn't look at her as though she needed pitying. He was frank with her, but never harsh, and he treated her as if he worshiped the very ground she walked on. They had their squabbles like any couple, but she knew in her heart that there was never going to be anybody else that she would want to go home to every night other than him. And that was something that she knew she didn't deserve, but was more than happy to take.
The corners of her lips lifted as he let out a laugh, watching as he stood in front of her. Her smile only widened as he spoke, and she nodded her head as she listened to him. "Good. Otherwise, I'd have to hurt you," she said in a serious tone before letting the laughter that bubbled up from within her tell the truth. Kai truly was Ophelia's better half, emphasis on the better. Everything that she lacked, he made up for tenfold. She didn't mind that there was so much that they didn't know about each other because the way he made her feel was something that was incomparable. She knew that she was marrying up, and there would be nothing that he could ever say or do to convince her otherwise.
The blonde wrapped her arms around her fiancé's neck as his arm snaked around her back. She shivered slightly as his lips met her skin and she let a lazy smile come to play on her lips as he told her that he loved her as well. She felt him pull her closer to him, and she moved freely before shivering as he spoke again. The lazy state was quickly changed upon the ringing of his phone, and she couldn't help but laugh as he groaned before letting a smirk play on her lips as he silenced it. She bit down on her lower lip gently before kissing Kai back, feeling the love she felt for this man just rush over her. She whimpered as the phone rang again, pouting as she looked at him.
She sighed and then looked at him. "Tell him I said 'hi' and make it quick, please." She watched as he took the phone call and let out a huff of air before moving to the chair that he had been sitting in previously. She looked on his desk back to her notebook, smiling as she took it and held it close to her chest, leaning back in Kai's chair as she stared at the door, waiting for him to come back in.
