Olivia took her first step off the train and onto the Capitol. Her eyes marveled at the tall buildings. Although District 4 was pretty wealthy compared to others, it didn't compare to the Capitol. She looked down at the address she had written down to meet Annie. Stepping away from the train, she walked towards the city. The air smelled different here. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't like District 4. There was no smell of the ocean, of the sea salt, or even the smell of fish- which she was used to. The air here was... plain... She looked over at the street signs, looking for the right one. She said it would have a lot of shops there. Olivia spotted the corner of a street with a large window display of dresses. That must be it. She walked quickly and turned into the street. The smell of a bakery catching her attention.
The coffee shop was the third building down. She walked up to it and immediately spotted Annie sitting down at one of the tables outside. It had been a long time since she'd seen her. They weren't friends or anything, but Olivia knew her face well.
"Annie," she said walking up to the table and pulling out a chair. "Sorry I'm late. It's my first time here."

It was a rarity that she did her job as a mentor but she had taken a liking to Jack, He had seemed nice enough yet as with anyone she rarely spoke to him. Now she would do her best to bring him or the girl home, she knew what nightmares awaited in the arena. She had lived them and still dreamed them to this day, as she walked down the street she kept her head down avoiding people as she did. She had learned how cruel that people could be, her own district thought she was insane…yet so was every one victor who walked from the arena. You never left the arena, it stayed with you until you either died, killed yourself or let the drugs take you away…sometimes all three.
She sat at the table her eyes ahead, to most it would seem that she was just starting off into nothing yet she was collecting herself to make herself at least be…reasonable. Most people avoided her, Mags or Finnick were the preferred mentors of district four. As she had left that day after telling Finnick her plan she had seen the shock on his face, yet he had not stopped her and she had soon been on her way. Dressed in a neat sea blue dress her hair tied back. Time had not mattered to Annie, not for many years had she cared about seconds, minutes, hours, days or even years no she cared about different things. So when she heard the chair being pulled out she looked up and gave a faint smile, her eyes haunted as they always were this time of year.
“You…are fine” she told her after several moments, her voice was gentle yet rough from not being used often enough. Her eyes stayed on the woman’s face as she paused and raised one hand “one moment” she walked over and spoke to a man and slipped him some coins he nodded and ran off a few minutes later they had fresh bakery rolls which was set down. She nodded and set them down “they…are the best in the area try some” she told her after a few moments as she cracked one open slowly and took a bite.
Chewing slowly she took the time to gather what thoughts she could. Oliva had lost her twin in the games several years ago, she had watched the games at home and felt sadness when she had seen his death. Her eyes stayed on Oliva a few moments, her eyes finally moved away to stare at something else she paused.
“The capital has…its advantages” she said after several moments and sighed quietly, sadness was in her voice as she offered her hand slowly to the woman “it…is nice to meet you” she told her before she settled in. This was a position that she was not used to, yet here she was being a mentor to a boy that she hardly knew and yet she wanted to save his life….or the girls life…she wanted to save them both,
“Thank you…for taking the time to meet me today” she said after several moments.

Olivia leaned back on her chair as she tried to get comfortable. The smell of the fresh rolls made her stomach grumble. Although she had just eaten during the train ride, the scent of the bread smelled so delicious, it made her mouth water. Picking up a warm roll, she plucked out a piece and popped it inside her mouth. It was sweet, but not like a cake. The food in District 4 was good, but this was beyond good. She wondered how people in the Capitol stayed so thin with such delicious food. She was sure that if she lived there, she'd be eating all the time.
"You're right. These are delicious," she said finish up the roll. She restrained from eating another one, though her taste buds ached for more. Her eyes met the girls, she seemed so shy, so distant. Olivia couldn't help wonder how this girl could have possibly won the games. "It's no problem, really. I, uh, think it's about time I help out our tributes. I think Kailani stands a chance." She purposefully left out talking about Jack, remember their previous encounter.

She had come here hoping to speak as little as possible, yet she knew she would have to stay focused. Stay away from things that made her stare off into space, lose herself in the world that she lived in with its horrors. Her eyes stayed on Oliva for several moments as she paused as she ate “do not…drink anything that you do not recognize…” she told her and sighed. She hoped the girl could have a good time, many tributes got sick when they were here from over eating, or the richness of what they ate.
“Do not over eat here…watch the drinks” she gave her own warning, it was one that was a safe bet. Every year it was hard to go back home away from the richness’ that came from the food here, it was almost addicting “every tribute until they enter the arena…has the same chances of the others it’s…the decisions that they make…the way that the arena changes them, that shape what leaves the arena” she spoke softly her eyes in a far away place for several moments as tears ran down her face. Covering her ears and closing her eyes her body began to shake, humming quietly for several minutes she shook where she sat before she lowered her hands and bowed her head.
“Th…the tributes this year are good, I was hoping to see if perhaps be able to help both Jack and Kailani as tributes so that we can attempt to better the odds that they come home” she said after several long minutes, she was shaken and it showed her eyes had the look of someone who was haunted day and night she swallowed. Looking at her she swallowed slowly straighten up in the chair she picked up a roll again and broke it apart, looking inside she picked at it slowly debating her next words and trying to focus in on the talk she could do this.
“Ev….every tribute no matter if you have trained your whole life, or are a coal miner from…district twelve changes in the arena” she whispered her eyes sad as she bowed her head even now her body slowly shook. The experience showed in her voice, at times she seemed about to break again but pulled herself together to continue. “Y…you do and see things that are more horrible than you can ever think possible” she whispered her voice sad as she looked up at Oliva yet she also looked past the woman as she continued.
“I know it is a lot to ask, I am working to help both…or at least one” she whispered. She wanted to make a difference, maybe she could help somehow here she thought and sighed as she picked at the roll and finished it and closed her eyes. All around the city sponsors were being picked up, yet since she had won three years ago? Oliva would be the first that she had attempted to sign, it was an odd feeling yet she was glad to be out of her room at the training center…it was a nice.

Olivia looked at the bread suspiciously and then the glass of water, or at least what she suspected was water. Then she leaned over the table, her eyes gazing around to see if anyone was watching them. "Why?... Is it poisoned?" Olivia wouldn't put it past the Capitol to do something like that. Although they had never given District 4 a reason to dislike them, she had heard whispers about what went on within other districts like District 11 and District 8. Especially with the Peacekeepers who were touring with the previous years Victors, they spoke a lot about riots like the one in District 8.
Olivia leaned back, taking a fork and sticking it on the bread. She picked it up, the bread sliding down on the fork. "I'm interested in helping Kailani," she stated again. Her eyes studied the piece of bread carefully, seeing if there was anything in there. But then again, Annie had eaten the bread, too. She dropped the fork with the bread in it on her plate. "Jack and I... well... Let's just say we have opposing views and to be blunt, I'm not interested in helping him."

“Not quite, depending on your view most things are rich and delicious” she admitted and closed her eyes. She knew all too well what happened when the parties started, people would over feed themselves and then she shuddered at the thought alone. “The people here, if you go to a party you will see them eat and eat and eat…vanish and then come back” her voice was soft as she shook her head. “When they leave they will always take a drink with them, it makes them sick so they lose what they just ate so they can come back and eat more” she told her voice sad. The capital never had to worry about food, water or anything they were where they wanted to be.
“The bread is fine, it’s the drinks you generally have to be careful with more so at parties always ask” she told her and shrugged. Watching her give the bread a once over she smiled faintly, it was almost amusing and the girls pause allowed her to collect her own thoughts and try again. When she said that the two did not have similar views she paused and gave a nod, “you mean the fact he thinks that the games are all glory and fame?” She asked her and sighed knowing from the last experience with him that he seemed to believe that he was god’s gift to the games.
She understood what she meant she paused and tapped her fingers on the table and paused debating “that will be lost the moment he sees what happens in the games, where he sees that the films they make the districts watch are lies” she whispered her eyes darkening briefly. She had seen what damage could be done, when they replayed the games and hers came on she had heard the beheading had been taken out after the 2nd showing for whatever reason she thought and bowed her head.
Debating another way she paused and looked at her after several moments, still picking at the bread on her plate and looked at her “Jack is like many of district one, two and four they seek glory you sometimes see that in other districts but for many it’s born into them at the academy” she pointed out after several moments. “The Jack you know just as Kailani will be very different if either wins you can never be the same when it’s over” she shuddered quietly.
“his views will change, as will hers…most end up drunks after the games, some on drugs some even suicide after several years” she whispered. She looked at the young woman eyes sad as she rested her hands on the table, she took a breath and gripped the table for several moments and paused. “I have seen the changes, Finnick left and came back…he handles things better than most yes but even he is not the carefree boy that I grew up with” she admitted. She looked away sadly and swallowed, “the second was myself…before the games I was a well off net makers daughter, not to many worries and happy I didn’t learn to swim until my late teens…I was not always this way” she whispered.
Shaking slightly she paused, “I will help both, and try and make sure that someone comes home” she spoke softly. “Jack and Kailani are good, they will hopefully make it far into the games I do not play favorites” she paused “watch Jack, when he changes perhaps than we can speak again…” she said softly. She didn’t push too hard, she knew the woman could go all in with Kailana now, or even walk away to the others. No she would let the events show what happened to Jack, and hope it would reach her.

Olivia listened to the woman speak. She knew much more about the games than Olivia did and she believed her wholeheartedly. It made her think of Max, her twin brother. He had been reaped at the age of 12 and although they both wanted badly to be in the games, Olivia was not reaped and had to stay behind. Back then, she had the same mindset as Jack. Olivia and her twin brother Max were one and the same. And then, the games came and took him away. She had been watching when Jessie killed her brother. A look of horror was plastered on his face when the camera zoomed in on him. That was the moment, at 12 years old, when she realized the horror of the Hunger Games. There was no honor or glory in that. Even though Jessie, the tribute from District 1, was only trying to survive, she saw her a killer. A murderer who had killed her brother. No amount of apology could change her mind. Even though she now blamed the Capitol for her brother's death, she couldn't let go of the physical being who had been the weapon to his demise.
Olivia nodded. "When that time comes, then perhaps I'll help him. As for now, I'll only agree to help Kailani. What do you need?"

“Thank you that is all I can ask from you on him” she admitted. She was glad that the girl had at least said that she would think of it, it would give her something to allow her to talk to her later when the time came. Her eyes stayed on hers as she paused, her eyes growing soft as she paused “right now we just need a way to get ahold of things to supply her when the time comes, when she goes in we can see where she needs help and start from there” she admitted. She would talk with the others, they did not want to see something sent that would be a mistake.
“when the games start we will have to make sure that things are there for her in some way, it’s not easy but when your limited at times it is best to let events unfold where we can send things and hope that it’s in time…we are lining up several sponsors now for both in hopes that the district four to come home several from home and then a few from the capital are in love with both” she said after several moments and shrugged before she looked at the girl.
“Thank you for taking the time to meet me, most people seek out Finnick or Mags” she admitted and sighed. She could only do so much, with her mind set many would ignore her but this girl had taken the time, as she slowly stood she paused and offered her hand to her “We have a few days left to prepare before the games, if you would like I can pass on a message to Kaitlana from you if you were both friends” she smiled faintly but paused “or you can write it down” she admitted and bowed her head.
Her memory was never the best and she knew it, she would forget things more often than not or even say the wrong message. She hated it, she hated being trapped in her own mind and having no way out. Shaking her head she closed her eyes and paused and took a breath, “I hope she comes home as well” she admitted softly. She liked Kailana who was a sweet girl and she hoped at least they could save one of them, she preferred the young woman and how kind she had been.
“The best way to help is to talk to any others that are sponsors as well and see if any can pool things together for supplies with Kailana and work from there being a sponsor has never been cheap, but it does make a difference in the arena when its needed most” she smiled faintly and closed her eyes and sighed softly. That was if you could control what was going on in the arena, sometimes you were just too late to help and then you had to see the dead body as it was brought home something that she hated.

Olivia smiled, "It's no problem." She looked down and wondered if she was doing the right thing. Sponsoring a career went against what she believed in. Hopefully Kailani would learn something from this, if she survived. But she was getting her hopes up too much. She picked up the bread she stuck with a fork earlier and pulled apart a piece of it. It was still warm, but there was no steam coming out of it anymore. As soon as she would get home, she planned on watching the Hunger Games, something she tried to avoid for years now. Then she'll see if helping out Kailani was a big mistake. She hoped it wasn't.
"I'll give you 40 points to provide her with food and water," she stated pulling out her purse. She thought about it some more and decided that was the right thing. "Being a career, I doubt she'll have trouble acquiring weapons. They've probably taken over control of the Cornucopia by now," she stated checking her watch. She turned around to look down the street. The area was becoming more crowded. "I have to catch the train back to the District. Be well."
