Write what you know
so they say, all I know is
I don't know what to write
or the right way to write it.
Tali had been trying to find a story for ages. As much as she hated to say it, District 2 wasn't exactly floating with juicy and investigative stories. A couple of sources that she had have run dry with information. She was okay with going out of her comfort zone, at leas she was better at it than she was a couple years ago, so she was going to go searching for some sources for her next story. She might just do a profile piece on some random citizen in District 2, but Tali wanted to do something better and bigger. Maybe she would write on a corrupt businessman or a crime organization to watch out for. She used an alias so she wouldn't get in too much trouble, though most people could easily spot her in a crowd if they were looking for her. She always dressed nicer than most people.
She stood on the busy street, trying to get people's attention with the stories she had in mind. Most people brushed her off, though some were pretty rude for no reason at all. "Get a real job," some would say, or "you have way too much hope, crazy lady." It was discouraging, but Tali had been used to comments like that to the point where they didn't really bother her anymore. The brunette girl sometimes would stand on the street all day practically begging people for her attention. Someone even went up to her and asked if she was a high-class prostitute. She just laughed in their face. There was no other way to react to someone thinking that, so all she could do was just laugh it off.
It had been close to evening and she was tired. She hadn't gotten one source all day. Tali was going to call it quits, as she figured that if nobody wanted their opinions heard, than that was the way it was. She knew that she should apply for a Capitol journalist position or apply for a pass to write about other things going on in the districts, but she needed more experience. District 2 was getting too small for her, and she wanted to look at the bigger picture--which was Panem.
The crowd on the streets were thinning out. Maybe she could call out one more person in a last-ditch attempt to try to find a source. She didn't care if that person was a Peacekeeper, a rebel, a Capitolite, a victor, or a poor nobody. All Tali needed was one person. She then saw someone, and she decided that they would be the one person she could try to talk to. She threw her hand up in the air and waved. "Hey you!" She yelled, waving her hand down. "Can I talk to you for a moment? It would only be for a second!"
