I said "she must be swift and white, And subtly warm, and half perverse And sweet like sharp soft fruit to bite, And like a snake's love lithe and fierce." Men have guessed worse. -Swinburne Celestia always found it strange how truly dull school could be. Mother simply told her it was just because she was smart, that she may be bored but it made her look better in the long run. It kept anyone from pointing to father or grandfather and accusing them of nepotism, so that when the time came and disaster struck, they could put trusted people in power with less grumbling and that was why she did it, love and duty, as she did everything else.
But that definately didn't mean she kept from grumbling every day leaving school. She just made sure no one heard her.
Still it wasn't all bad, especially today. Father and mother were busy with work and social obligations which meant that she got to go to Grandpa's place until they were home. Well she didn't have to, it was more that she had an excuse and she wanted to see him. He was her grandfather and the one person who actually cared about her and treated her well, as opposed to her parents who saw her as something to make them look 'better' after her fathers tryst that resulted in her haf sister Fara.
The journey to the presedential palace wasn't long at all. Especially when you'd been doing it all your life and knew the shortcuts around the city. Plus others would see her heading that way excitedly, and just like dinner with Fara, it showed that the snow clan was tight as ever to anyone who might hold their doubts. Celestia may have only been twelve, but if there was one thin she understood about the capitol social scene, it was the politics behind it.
Fara headed inside the doors to the mansion, which even today was rather like a palace to her, slipped off her coat and looked about. She knew better than to do much exploring, she already saw someone scurrying off to tell grandfather she was here and if he was in a meeting or something she really did not want to bother him. There was so much gossip about his harsher side that Celestia heard about, and yet with her, he'd always been so kind and gentle, but again, maybe that was something he did just for her sake? Still it was the grandfather she knew and loved, and so as not to ruin that, she tried not to get in the way or annoy him. She was just grateful to have one person that loved her in this world, without truly having any use for her.
So settling down in a nearby chair Celestia got out some of her homework and started idily working, her mind not really on the subject but it filled the empty time until grandpa arrived and it kept her hands busy and her mind of thinking up ways to sneak off to see the inner sanctions of the 'palace' and if the rumors of secret torture rooms and prisons were really true!

There were no shortage of people coming and going in his office. His main advisers had been there since three in the morning and he himself had barely had any sleep. What did it matter what the rebels did at this point? Just rain fire bombs on them, they could start over. They had done it before. That's what he wanted to say. The wrath that was building up inside him wanted to say damn it all, just burn them all to the ground! But he contained his anger, as he always did. A President couldn't lose his temper, ever. He'd never lost his temper, not once. He surely was not going to start now. Soon, this would all be over and all thoughts about rebellion would be squashed.
"Show these criminals that these horrific crimes will not go unpunished, find them all and perform public executions. We shall see how many more of them stand up once they've seen what standing up leads to," he said, hiding a sigh that wanted so badly to be let out. He needed a break, so he excused himself from the group and walked out of the office, telling one of his guards to stay put. He didn't need or want anyone walking with him. He wanted peace.
Coriolanus had planned on walking down to the garden when one of the servants stopped to tell him that his granddaughter was here. He almost asked why he was being bothered, seeing as Fara always made herself at home here and he had seen her just yesterday. But then realized it would be Celestia, his youngest granddaughter. He had not seen her in a few days. He turned around, away from his beloved garden and walked towards one of the halls where he knew Celestia would be. He peered into every room until he found a little girl sitting in one of the chairs writing something. She had a bag with her. He studied her for a while, not making a sound. She was so different from Fara. Where Fara was strong willed, ambitious, and cunning, Celestia was more gentle and soft. They were like night and day. But he loved them both, though perhaps he loved Celestia a little more. Fara had outgrown her grandfather years ago, she was no longer the little girl that doted on him. She was a woman with ambition and her eyes on the crown. His crown.
"You never stop learning, do you little one?" He said with a glint of humor in his eyes as he walked inside.

Fara usually made her interns run and do her undesirable jobs, like get her coffee or go fetch documents in the public records. But today, she had to grab sensitive documents at her grandfather's mansion. She visited her grandfather yesterday to give him updates on the games. He probably wanted the games just as perfect as she did, so she often gave him detailed updates when he wanted them. She was doing most of the work by herself because nobody else could grasp her ideas like she did. She was more snappy than usual, and most people stayed far away from Fara when she was in her moods. She had been in a mood the whole week. Her least favorite thing was to do petty jobs, and to her, this was one of them.
She got out of her car as her driver pulled up to the mansion. Today had been more hectic than usual, with one of her gamemakers screwing up a model that she came up with. He had been immediately replaced with someone who could actually do the job. She wasn't being lenient with anyone, if anyone had messed up, they were being replaced. People feared Fara, but to her, fear meant control. Her studio was run by fear, though when it came closer to the Games and she was less stressed, she would loosen up a little. She had more on her plate than any nineteen year old girl should, and she thrived on it. Fara Snow was not a failure. She was the most ambitious, hard-working girl in all of Panem, and anyone that doubted her was wrong.
The brunette was working to bring honor and pride to her family. She always was. Her parents weren't fans of her, and the past ten years, she lived to please her grandfather. She wanted to surpass him in any way, knowing when he would outlive his usefulness. It wasn't anything personal, really, but rather politics. She heard stories of her grandfather assassinating the last president of Panem. She would just live up to his legacy and do the same. Fara adored her grandfather and everything he did even if she did have to kill him. She didn't want to, really, but rather a need. He had been in power for too long and Panem needed someone new.
She entered the mansion, running her hands through her hair. She saw her grandfather and her sister in the main room. She raised an eyebrow. Was she invading on their personal time? "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on grandpa-granddaughter time," she said with a snarky smile. "I have to grab some old games records in the safe." She had a keycard and fingerprint that was at the ready. Security had been tighter all around with things happening. WORD COUNT: 472 TAG: @celestia , President Snow

I said "she must be swift and white, And subtly warm, and half perverse And sweet like sharp soft fruit to bite, And like a snake's love lithe and fierce." Men have guessed worse. -Swinburne Celestia had been trying to focus on her studies, really she had, vowing to be a good and dilligent student despite how bored she was. But there was new staff about the place, staff who heard things she wasn't allowed to hear and were unaware not to talk about it around her, and so she heard quite the mess of distracting rumors, not that she looked distracted, she was quite the expert at looking studious no matter what, but now she was worried.
She knew the second grandpa increased the hunger games there would be displeasure in the districts. She was not a fool, and neither were the districts themselves, more children would die and families ripped apart for the sake of peace. But grandfather knew what he was doing, he had led them out of the darkness of the last civil war, and even if there was another, she knew he could handle it, she just worried for the casualties both to the capitol and district it would involve, she truly did hate seeing pain and suffering.
But then grandpa's voice interrupted her thoughts and her tiny head popped out of the book she was reading excitedly, thoughts of a revolution and suffering were gone and replaced with a calm and safe feeling she always got when grandfather was around as she smiled proudly. Her intelligence made him and her parents so proud of her and gave her a purpose to strive for in life, and even better, one that would keep her out of competition with her half sister.
"Of course grandpa, i'm going to be the smartest child in all of panem!" she declared proudly with a giggle as she set her book aside. Snows were not modest, it was the only trait the entire family had in common, they were all immensely proud, and for the most part, they all had something to be proud of. But for now pride gave way to a childish smile as she ran up to her grandpa and hugged him tightly, just glad to be somewhere she could be herself for a bit.
That's when she heard a voice she always dreaded.
The signs were subtle of course, grandpa would be the only one able to see them if anyone noticed at all. The way her hands twitched, a nervous shiver, and the way she breifly cringed as she heard her half sisters voice. She cared for her half sister as much as her parents, but she was well aware that care was in no way reciprocated, and that her sister was liable to have her killed if she was ever a burden, so safe to say that Far in her one safe place was unnerving for the small child.
"Oh hey sis, it's no big deal, mom and dad are just husy, so i'm hanging out with grandpa for a bit," she replied as she nestled against the larger man nervously, trying to simply smile and act casual.

Being with his granddaughter was going to be a welcome relief to Coriolanus after the kind of week he had been having, and he could see that for sure as soon as Celestia looked up at him. There was nothing manipulative or malicious in her, at least not yet. She was still young and innocent. Fara had been easier to manage when she was younger too, although she had never been quite so gentle. Still, he had found time with her refreshing once too. Now, time with his elder granddaughter meant he had to be just a little more careful. She was ambitious and knew the kinds of things that needed to be done - both traits he admired in her, as they reflected himself, but both dangerous traits as well. He didn't think Celestia would follow in Fara's or his own footsteps in those regards, and he didn't intend to push her toward that path in any way.
"Of course you are," Coriolanus agreed, opening his arms to let Celestia run into them. The child hugged him tight, and he returned the embrace, though with less force. There were a rare few people he would let get this close to him. He had to be entirely sure of their intentions first - a reason he hadn't hugged his own children in quite a while. Fara too was mostly past the stage of hugging, and beyond his family, no one even dared to try. Coriolanus was not a cuddly person, had never shown himself as such, and there was an intentional distance between himself and those around him.
Coriolanus had opened his mouth to ask Celestia what it was she was studying when he heard the voice of her sister. He turned his head in that direction, seeing her familiar figure in a hurry, as per usual it seemed. "Fara," he returned, making no move to open himself up for a hug as he had done with Celestia. "No need to hurry out. I was just about to ask Celestia what it was she was studying, and maybe you can provide some different insight she can't get from books." He looked down at Celestia, patted her back once with a small smile, then motioned both granddaughters to seats. He caught Fara's eyes once as if to let her know this wasn't really a request, before taking his own seat. He had to shift a little so that the seat caused him as little pain as possible, a habit that was just as familiar as hiding that pain outwardly had always been.
Glancing back to Celestia, he asked, "So tell me, Sun-in-Shadow, what are you learning?" Perhaps the subject Celestia was working on would be something dull like mathematics, put perhaps even then he could turn it into a lesson.
