Ryo Marie Dante NICKNAMES: Ry AGE: 31 years old GENDER: Female RESIDENCE: Capitol OCCUPATION: Gamemaker ALLEGIANCE: Pro-Capitol SPECIAL INFO: Creater of the modern, modified morphling FACE CLAIM: Charlotte Free PLAYER ALIAS: Sydney Strengths || Extremely smart, organized, handles situations well, party girl Weaknesses || Has a very bad temper, doesn’t care much about other people’s feelings, cocky as hell, has an obsessive personality Fears || Someone smarter than her coming along Overall || Ry loves a good time, whether it's at a party or something sexual. Of course, she's 100% dedicated to her work, but she doesn't pass up a good time. When she is frustrated or mad, people tend to stay out of her way because of how angry and awful she gets. She is condescending a lot and is very proud of herself. District || Capitol Father || Barack Dante Mother || Felicia Dante Siblings || Masha Dante (29), Gillian Dante (28) History || Ryo was born the first child to wealthy business owners Masha and Gillian in District 3. Though neither of them were in the electrical industry themselves, they owned a large medical company. Every year, they would experiment with new medicines, drugs, and diseases that were given to them by the Capitol. She had grown up in a setting where the smartest scientists came together to make medical advances, and her family was at the top.
Since her family was incredibly wealthy, Ry went to the best school in District 3. She was extremely smart and talented in the sciences, and her parents expected nothing less from the eldest Dante child. She definitely had an advantage towards most children in Panem—she had wealth, went to an amazing school, and was given anything she wanted as long as she could make the grades. It also helped that she was growing up to be a beautiful young lady.
When Ry was 11, her mother was stabbed at a bar. When they took her to the hospital, the morphine that was given to her wasn’t strong enough. Ryo could hear the woman’s screams as she stood outside of the hospital as they tried to patch her up. In the end, her mother didn’t make it. The family was devastated, but they kept going on. Her father ended up being harsher on the children, often hurting them if they didn’t perform up to standards. Ry didn’t get hurt as much, but her brother had it was worst. He was more artistically smart, but to their father, that wasn’t good enough for him. Ry protected her younger brother on several occasions. She ended up doing a lot of his work for him.
At the age of 12, Ry started to have an obsession over morphine. It was supposed to help people when they were in pain, but it never seemed to be strong enough. She hated the fact that it wasn’t helping. She started studying the effects of morphing and incorporating different kinds of plants and animal products in it.
She went through school with amazing marks and ended up being second rank in her school. Her school focused on technology more than medicine, so she didn’t care as much or do as well in the technology aspect of her classes. Ry wasn’t too happy, but it was better than anything less. She thought technology was important and all, but to her, medicine was a lot more important. She knew there was tensions and that the country was on the brink of war, so she needed to make the best morphine she could.
To get what she wanted and needed, Ry slept with a lot of men and women. She wasn't above doing that to achieve her dream. As a matter of fact, Ry would do almost anything to achieve her dream. She loved sleeping around, and even as she got older, still does.
Her father made her the chief experimental officer, letting her take charge of experimenting on new diseases and medicines. It was a breakthrough for her morphine obsession, and she was finally able to make an updated version of the drug. A team collected nightshade throughout the country, and she would only add a small amount of it into the morphine. Then, she added other elements to water the nightshade down in a sense. They experimented on citizens who were on death row, and she realized that way too much could kill you. But with just enough, it could cease physical pain for a couple of hours, even if it was severe. She could see the side effects, like yellowing of the skin and large pupils, but it was a small risk to take if it was going to help thousands of people.
On her 21st birthday, the morphling was distributed. It was one year before the war. Ry was celebrated by the Capitol and her company. She was a child prodigy. The Capitol asked for her to move to the big city, and she gladly accepted. She was able to take her younger siblings, but she did not take her father with her. He was forced to end up resigning by the Capitol with Ry taking over the company.
When the Dark Days hit, Ry was glad that she was on the right team. Because of her smarts, they put her on the war council. She was the Chief Medical Officer and made all of the decisions regarding medicine in the field.
Year 5 of the war, she was told to send a box of tainted morphling to soldiers. And she did it without hesitation. She had blood on her hands, and in her mind, that was okay. She had the power of giving people life and death with her company, and it was something that she absolutely loved.
At the end of the war, Ry was given a promotion. They gave her a new position they were making—a gamemaker. She handed over her company to her little sister and brother, and she is starting to work on the games as of current affairs. Because of her obsessive personality, there are rumors that she has started becoming addicted to her own drug—morphling. More and more people are starting to use it recreationally, and Ry is rumored to be one of them.
