Aria is the kind of person that's easy to like. She can talk with almost anyone, and has a lot of compassion for people. She grew up helping to take care of people, and so doing so now is a part of her nature. She's a little too trusting, and puts herself out there a little too much - which has gotten her hurt more than once. She's aware that she's pretty, and while that's helped her in some things, she sometimes wishes people could see past that and just take her seriously. It's a recurring problem in her job. 

History
Aria Renee Mercent was born the middle child of three to decently wealthy parents. She had a wonderful early childhood, free of hardship for the most part.

The war hit when she was 12, and things definitely took a turn. Her parents supported the Capitol, of course, and her father was drafted to fight soon after the fighting began. Her mother did what she could while still supporting her family. A few years into the war, Aria's younger brother Ryder got really sick. Her family drained what money they had trying to make him better, but doctors were in short supply. Almost every doctor was drafted for the war, leaving even the wealthy to fight to keep alive. Because of that, Ryder died a month later.

As the war progressed, more families were torn apart - by sickness or battle or something else. Whenever they could, the Mercents would take in stray people or families while they tried to pick themselves back up. It seemed like there was always a constant flood of people throught their home, and Aria got to know most of them well. She learned that hospitality and a little first aid from her mother, who was always welcoming to anyone who came to their doorstep.

When she was 20, a boy came with his mother into the Mercent home. He was a little younger than she, but he'd already been fighting in the war. His name was Antony, and while he and his mother claimed to be from the upper end of District 1, he confided in her one night that they were actually from District 5. Antony was scarred by battle and intially wouldn't come out of his shell. Over time, Aria coaxed him out and slowly fell in love with him. She found such beauty behind his scars, and it seemed like he had found hope in her.

Antony and Aria were together over the next two and a half years, and what was originally a sweet relationship turned into a passionate one, and that later turned into a violent one. Antony would have flashbacks to the fighting, and sometimes even Aria couldn't calm him down. He hit her, more than once. Whenever he came back to himself, he always apologized, and Aria always forgave him. Her mother kept telling her to leave, but she loved him so much. She felt like he was supposed to be the one. When she heard the rumors, she ignored them, until she actually saw it. Aria was supposed to be on a mini tour with the mayor, visiting neighboring district mayors to discuss repairs, but the trip ended a little early. She'd meant to surprise Antony, but when she came home, she isntead found Antony half-naked with another girl. 

That finally did it, and she finally left, moving back in with her mother. After a few months, she was convinced to go out again. Aria was never great at being alone, and found that one of the places that was the best to visit was the bar. She tried a few before finding the one specific bar she actually felt comfortable at, and that was in large partbecause of the bartender. She wasn't really sure she wanted to get into anything, but he was fun to flirt with and to look at, and it took her mind off Antony. Then when her mother got sick, she needed that distraction even more.
