Canon List
Canons are an important part of this story. They must remain within the confines of their characters (unless otherwise approved by admins Eileen or Rebecca ). If you choose a canon, please read up on them via book/wiki/etc.
It is important to know your canons personality and history. By taking a canon, you understand and agree to abide by the rules and changes made affecting these characters.
Rules:
1. Anyone, new or existing members, can take a canon that has been categorized as "minor".
2. To take a canon that is categorized as "major", you must be an active member for at least 1 month first. (If you post a reservation before your 1 month is up, it will be deleted.)
3. Each member can only have a maximum of 3 Canons at any given time (no more than 2 major canons).
4. Once you've obtained your canon, you must create their normal application and have an active thread with the last post not exceeding 1 month. Canons will only be moved to "Taken" status once the application and their first site IC post are created.
5. If your canon is deleted due to inactivity, you forfeit that canon and may only get the canon back by posting a new application (as long as no one else has taken them). Your canon will be deleted for breaking rule #4. *canon activity is monitored by admins*
6. If you are interested in claiming a character that another member has successfully reserved but the status is not "taken" yet, , please contact the admins.
If more than one person apply to reserve a canon and none have been approved, staff will decide on who will take the canon (order of application does not matter).

The day had been quiet for Finnick Odair. Of course, the only reason that the day had been quiet was because Finnick hadn't ventured out of his own house today. That was usually about the only way that the day would ever be quiet, for life in District 4 for a popular victor was usually anything but. The last time consistent quiet had been part of his life was before the Games, when he was just a happy, social child who helped in the family fishing business, but that had been so long ago he had nearly forgotten what it felt like. If he had left the safe confines of his home today, he would be subject to the awful din of Games chatter, as it was all that was on anyone's mind now that the extravagance of the 74th Hunger Games was coming to a close. He was only too glad that this time, as a rare opportunity, he had not been ordered to mentor.
Finnick had been in his living room working on fixing an old fishing net when he heard a knock at the door. He didn't really fish much anymore himself, but working with the knots and nets created a consistency and clarity that he desperately needed sometimes. He liked having his hands busy, but he set aside the net now. "I'll get it," he called out to Juno, a servant of his who was at work washing dishes in the kitchen. She'd been in there a while already, as dishes had piled up from a lunch where he'd tried - and rather failed - to cook himself a meal. He could roast a fish over a fire with the best of them, but cooking food with the express purpose of it actually tasting good? That wasn't a skill he possessed.
He wasn't expecting anyone today, so the face that greeted him was surprise. "Perfect timing,” Finnick said, offering one of his well-loved smiles. “You caught me right in the middle of doing absolutely nothing but chattering away to myself. Juno was about to quit on account of it, so I thank you for saving me the effort of finding a new housekeeper; I'll run out of them soon. What can I do for you?"

| Johanna Mason |  | I adore Johanna Mason and everything she is. She is such a complex character with little known background other than that she doesn't have anyone she loves, and I think it would be so cool to explore how she was before the 75th Hunger Games. She is extremely sassy and can come off as rude, but at the same time, she has a reason for how she is what she is. She despises the Capitol and everything it is because they killed her whole family, but she is not a rebel (yet) because she is a victor. She is the only living female of District 7, and I would love to write out her anger and rage against the Capitol along with some breakdowns since she's pretty unstable. I would love to write Johanna because I want to go in depth with her character and how she grew up to win the 71st Games. It has only been two years since she won, so it hasn't been that long and would probably be around the time when she was having problems with Snow and when he killed her family, so that would be really cool to plot out. I feel as if I already have a feel for her character since she is quite young for a cannon character (probably around 17 or 18) and that I have always wondered what her past life was since Collins didn't really get into her personal life at all.  |

| Rue |  | Rue has always been an incredibly interesting character to me. She's smart, fast and brave, but easily overlooked in the beginning of her Hunger Games because of her age and size. In some ways, she's similar to Katinss - the oldest child in her family trying to look out for the rest and living in poverty.
Since Rue dies in the 74th Hunger Games, getting to play her before that would really allow me to explore Rue's past, growing up in the hard-working agricultural District 11. I would love to explore how she is in her hometown, and experience how the reaping effected her and her family. |

There's something about Finnick.
He puts on a good face to the world, plays at being the ideal puppet and best role model for what a Victor should be. He seems to be sleeping with everyone important and overall enjoying the life of the rich and famous. But really, he's just smart, and a good actor. He knows how to manipulate people to find things out, and I feel like no one but Annie and probably Mags actually know who he is. Not for a long time, anyway.
Portraying Finnick before the rebellion would allow his multiple sides to come out in interesting ways. Getting to explore the real him that he shows especially to Annie and probably Mags while putting on a show for the Capitol would be exciting and revealing in a way we only glimpsed in the books. |

| Annie Cresta | [img alt="Canon Picture " src="http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/s678/eileenharlow/characterpic_zpsa5c7760d.jpg" style="max-width:100%;"] | | Annie, though she doesn't have a huge part in Catching Fire, is an influential character. Though born in District Four she seems like the type of person to not join the Careers. It is unknown if she actually killed anyone or not though people say she was crazy after she saw her partner beheaded right in front of her. This moment offers an insight into the Games that not many knew of. Not many know of how easy it is to go crazy in the Arena and it shows how wrong the Games are. |
She is one of the only ones to go 'crazy' or 'mad' though she is not crazy or mad. Annie suffers from PTSD from the Games. Having this means that she a little different then the rest of the Victor's. Annie is one of the only people to have tamed Finnick Odair. Though she has been in the Games and seen the worst in people she still tries to see everyone in the best light possible. There is not much known of Annie Cresta and I would like to change that. I'd like to show that she is not crazy or mad but rather that she suffers from the Games. Most Victors suffer from nightmares but Annie suffers from nightmares at night as well as during the day. She has an affect of people. Annie has changed people. She has a way of creeping up on people as Finnick Odair told Katniss in Mockingjay.
Though Annie has suffered from the Games and the Capitol she doesn't hold a grudge. She doesn't say yes to the Capitol children being in the Games despite what the Games did to her along with the Capitol. Annie doesn't do anything for revenge against the Capitol. I would love to play Annie before the 74th Hunger Games. It will offer an insight to her that no one really knows about. Yes we've heard about Annie from Katniss, and Finnick but we haven't seen really seen her. We saw Annie for a second in Catching Fire when she was reaped before Mags volunteered for her but that was all. No one has seen Annie Cresta except for a few seconds in Catching Fire and in Mockingjay.
We don't know what she is really like and I would like to change that. I'd like to show that besides Annie having PTSD that she is a lovely young woman. She is determined and kind. She doesn't hesitate to say no to the Capitol children going into the Games which shows that despite what the Games and the people of the Capitol, along with President Show, have done to her that she doesn't want anyone to go through what she went through. She doesn't want anyone to have to face what she had to go through no matter if they are from the districts or the Capitol. [/td][/tr][/tbody][/table][/p][/p]

 I didn't really think that there were any canon tributes that interested me, but someone suggested Thresh to me in the chatbox. I knew then that it had to happen. The main thing that appealed to me with Thresh was his personality. As many here know, I do have an affinity for playing serious characters, and Thresh is like the king of serious characters. His strategy for getting sponsors was to just remain curt and surly, and when coupled with his physical appearance, it somehow made him a favorite in the Capitol. He also was shown to have mercy and a bit of kindness, to a degree, when he saved Katniss from Clove after Clove mentioned Rue dying. He could have just let Katniss die, but when the little 12-year-old girl from his District was mentioned, he couldn't just let Rue's partner die too.
I think it will be interesting, fun, and a great learning experience for me to play Thresh since he isn't supposed to talk much (which I kind of failed at with Calem lol) and also work independently. With him being a canon, there will be extra pressure to make sure I play him right, which will definitely help me in the long run.

I would love to play Cato, not only because he was a favorite tribute of mine, but also because I'd love to justify his actions and personality within the arena. He, like all " villains", has a backstory, one that plays a huge part in what makes him so "bad". In writing his character, I hope to give this explanation for his behavior.
Additionally, I would like to provide a history for Cato, so his life before the Games can be learned about. No information is known about Cato, though there is so much that can be. Developing his character and past before his entrance into the arena is an honor that I hope to have.

Well, there's this tiny pressure to make a cannon. *cough* Eileen, lol. No but seriously, I think she's a really interesting character. Obviously being a career she's percieved as someone whos life revolves around the games but I think there's more to her than just that. Absent parents maybe, that leads to her craving for attention. To quote Sam from Transformers I'd say that there's more than meets the eye with her. I would love to have the luxury of unraveling all the secrets that lies within her and just be able to write her is very exciting. Not really needed I guess?

 Personally, I like Marvel better than others. He's my favorite Career tribute, and even though he wasn't portrayed much in the books or film, he still killed Rue, which brings us that beautiful, sad moment in the story and movie. Although he was an antagonist, I still really like him and I think he'd be a really nice character to play. /div]
I raced through the woods, my heart pounding out of my chest. I jumped out of the way, just in time for the arrow to spead past my head. I could hear the sharp swoosh as it passed through my left ear.
Kill the little girl. Cato's words rang in my ear, and I raced on. It would be the perfect revenge; the brat, Katniss, had destroyed our supplies, and I was sure Lover Boy Peeta was involved in the crime. I never trusted him, but Cato insisted on keeping him until he was useless. Until we killed Katniss.
Well, look what that has done to us. The smoke from the fires was an almost too-easy giveaway. I simply followed the trail, and there she was, the small one, looking shocked and frightened. I grinned for a moment before thrusting my spear.
"KATNISS!"
I jerked as the spear impaled her. She had screamed, and that was bad. I suddenly realized what I had done: killed an innocent person. Someone like me before I threw the spear... No, this wasn't the girl we wanted.
She came crashing out of the trees, looking furious and worried. I opened my mouth to apologize. I was shocked at myself, both for killing Rue and for not being able to kill Katniss right now. If I could spear an innocent person so quickly, why couldn't I kill Katniss?
The last thing I heard was the twang of the bowstring.
I am aware that, in roleplaying, I'll be writing in third-person. This is a writing sample.

 I live in West Virginia, which is the basis of District 12 in the Hunger Games. I know the mountains, I know the trees, and I know the coal. My grandfather was a coal miner, and he worked in the mines before they were regulated. He died of black lung. I've heard all of the stories, not just from him, but from the others who lived and worked in this area then. In 2010, an underground explosion occurred at the Upper Big Branch Mine, killing 29 of the 31 working miners. I say this all to explain that I absolutely understand the minds of those in District 12. It's not at all that different from the place I am living in today.
All along, I've known I wanted to play someone from 12. I identify with them far too much to pass up the opportunity. Then I realized how perfect Gale would be. Gale's known loss, but he puts it behind him to provide for his family. He's living in a wicked world, but he has not become a product of it. Gale has endured. I supported him so much in the novels because I believe that he is the strongest character. It would be an honor to play him.

I seriously love Madge. She's so innocent and perky in the sad District 12, and she is a character I wished was more developed. I want to play her because I want to see how much she can be developed in a certain period of time. She's important to the story, but not in a canon way. She is the one who gave Katniss the Mockingjay pin, and I feel like she is super unappreciated.

Cressida has always been one of the characters that interested me the most from the series. We see a lot of her personality, her bravery and loyalty and dedication to the cause. She's also one of the most unappreciated, though most important characters in my opinion. Think about it, without her camera work, there would be no way to get the rebel message to the other districts. At least, not such a powerful message. She finds the heart of the rebellion and of the Mockingjay, and that's what she shows the world. Aside from her personality and role in the rebellion, though, we don't actually know much about her. For the most part Cressida is a blank slate. If I got to play her, I would love to explore more of her history and what experiences caused her to leave the capitol to join the rebellion.

Rory is an amazing teen, he had lived through a lot of things, just like his siblings. He is a young man that stand up for his family. He knows how difficult it had been for his mother and his older brother to feed his other siblings and himself! So whenever and however he can help them he does it. Like when his family is in more need, he had taken out tesserae only to help out. Gale and his mother are against that, but he knows that his family's well being comes first than anything. He is loyal, and even in the darkest hours he tries to see a light at the end of the hall, mostly because of his younger siblings and to not worry his mother or older brother even more. I've always admired this boy because he is strong willed and a pilar for his family even when he is still too young. It is an amazing opportunity to play someone like him with the interaction of his family.

She is a relatively minor character and we don't really know much about her besides where she comes from. We don't know why she wanted to join the rebels or if she was ever able to make it district thirteen. I think that there is a lot of room to develop her character further in a really interesting way. Plus, with Syd taking Bonnie, there is plenty of opportunity for plots there! Y'all know my writing

Caesar is an important part of the Hunger Games experience - for the tributes, the Mentors, the Capitolites, and everyone else. Having someone to communicate the goings-on of the Games in a regulated fashion to the public would aid RPers in their ability to have their own characters react in a realistic fashion. Knowing this, I first wanted to take him on just because I love helping out and getting creative, but I don't know that I'll have time to even consider being a Gamemaker. ^_^
But I'm also interested in exploring his life offstage. Is he aware of how he's being used to promote propaganda? Is he actually interested in the tributes as people, or in helping them? Is he as happy as he seems?
Tl;dr, I take a great personal interest in him as a character, and would love to contribute to the site's overall functioning by contributing an important canon character. Katniss has always been an intriguing character of course, but I'm particularly excited to write her in this universe. What would have become of her if she never entered the Games? Are the traits we always saw so much of in canon - impulsivity, protectiveness, reservedness - truly inherent to her, or more a result of what the canon storyline exposed her to? I'm particularly excited to explore her relationships with other characters, both canon and original. Though she's reclusive, she's well-known at the Hob, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out. And honestly, I love a good challenge, and am excited for the work involved in making sure that I'm properly representing a such a well-known character. I understand that this is a major canon (though her role is significantly lesser in this universe), so I'll be glad to provide more information or an additional writing sample if necessary. Also I was voluntold  . Been here for a while, but go ahead and check out the 76th Games Countdown, an example of me writing a canon character.

As I said the first time around (I think), Cashmere did not get enough coverage in the books and movies. I feel it would be a good touch to show a little bit more of her personality, and actually look into her motivations and reasoning as a stand-alone character, rather than just background for all the mess that took place in the books. Errrm... I'm reclaiming her with Eileen's permission? I've been here a while, just gone the last three months.

I want to play Bonnie because, in the books, they are very interesting characters. Her and Twill, her teacher (though we are modifying them a bit because they are minor), ran away from District 8 looking for District 13. This is how Katniss knows that District 13 actually exists. She didn't get any representation in the movies, so I think it's cool that I can make a canon character with a backstory and still end up the same way they did in the books. Though they were presumed dead in Mockingjay, I think it would be cool to see how they are alive. Welp, I have many active threads from many characters!
