Lucas continued to walk, admiring how smooth and solid the hedges were. He wondered if anyone else was in there or if he was the only one. He imaged that it would be hard to find another tribute in the maze, it looked eerie and dangerous. He wouldn't be surprised if he remained lost in the maze for the remainder of the games. Of course, that was more likely not going to happen. Johanna had told him about what to expect and this was one of them. If you weren't killed by a tribute, then surely the Game Makers would attack you somehow. Lucas walked carefully, making sure he wasn't stepping in any booby traps or mines that would blow him up sky high into a million tiny pieces. He shook his head, at least then he'd die quickly and most likely not even realize his demise.
He held on to his backpack tightly. His fingers caressing the hilt of the knife to make sure it was still securely fastened on his pants. Lucas almost began to whistle, but realized this was not the time to do so. What if another tribute was nearby? Perhaps on the other side? Paranoia became Lucas and he began to walk softly, making sure his footsteps wouldn't be heard.

Bryce kept moving through the maze. By now he was a little to far in to turn back to find the way out. However, that's what he was going to attempt to do. If Willow had made it through he could meet up with here somewhere else. Right now was about the time to think of getting himself out of this place. He was trapped in it and though now it just looked like he was traveling through wheat fields in his mind he knew full well that he was not. He was sure that the maze itself if he touched it would be deadly. If he touched the leaves of the hedge that was. No he would try and find his way back out of the place because he didn't feel like dying in here. He had to make it through the first day. or at least one member of district nine needed to make it through day one. Every since he came into this place everything he'd worked so hard to do was just going up in flames. He sighed and kept walking.

WORDS: 000 | TAGGED: @tag | NOTES: xyz Willow was getting kind of bored, as she kept getting dead ends within the maze. Turning around, she stopped abruptly. The girl saw snow, and heard faint music playing nearby. It seemed, wintery. Snow was laying on the ground in front of her, and not the president. A mutt walked by, and started singing. Raising an eyebrow at the mutt, she readied her sword as if it was going to attack. It was almost kind of funny, the mutt was singing yet giving her the glare that meant the mutt was forced to do this. She walked along, as the song reached a high pitch the pitch started to get annoying as she held onto it like a little girl not wanting to lose her kite. But, eventually the song was over after a bunch of notes and lyrics. Causing Willow to finally unplug her ears, she could tell by the ball of snow surrounding her as the mutt vanished. Willow sped away, and going left the girl hoped she was right for once. She wanted out of the maze, and fast.

Bryce was so done with the maze right about now. He had turned around to head out and seemed to be going in the right direction for that. At least he had not run into anyone who wanted to do him harm. That was an upside to the maze he figured. Sooner or later he was going to get himself out of here. He just hoped that Willow as alright. She had gone in way before he had as he had been following her but trying to make it not look obvious. He'd only taken three turns into the maze and was heading back out of it again. If he could get out he would be okay. He was going to need to find a place where he could get a weapon because being out in the open was going to be a bad thing. However, he could fight and would fight hand to hand. It was his speciality as it were anyways. He smirked to himself and he continued back out of the maze.

*no table sowwy*
With her finally correct turn, Willow was almost happy yet still angry at the same time. She probably had 12 more pathways to get to the exit as it took her 13 to get to the center. Yet, she was still a lot closer than the people who were planning on getting to the center. Right? Right. Walking through, she started to wonder what the viewers were thinking of Willow right now. Surprised? Exciting? Boring? Willow really didn't know, and honestly didn't care. She wanted to just find a way out, maybe there'd be a trap-door that flings her out into something that she wouldn't die in so she could kill some b*tches for once. Willow was getting bored, as she was in the middle of a fricking maze with nobody to talk to besides the camera's, and talking to the cameras got pretty boring at times. She couldn't even see how people did it sometimes, speaking to them with no problem. Getting to the next turn, the teenager decided to turn left.

Yet again, Willow got a correct turn and seemed to be doing everything again and again as if her life was in replay. With some estimation-- Willow probably had 11 more pathways now to get to the exit as it took her 13 to get to the center. Wait... What? Willow was outside of the maze? Well, apparently she was. Now was the time for her to kill, or be killed as it was a majorly small chance she was going to live with her current standings. Walking out, she took a deep breath and thought to herself this is nice-- smelling air besides the scent of f*cking bushes with a small grin. The girl looked around, contemplating on where to go as if she were to because there was so many decisions that would kill her. "What do you think, huh?" The girl said to herself, almost to the point she was going insane without any socialization. It was dark, it was like the middle of the fricking night and freezing cold. Maybe she would go to the ferris wheel and cuddle in the seat with the hide she gotten from the deer, she hoped so. The teenager was getting cold as heck, and kind of wanted to fix that problem because what kinda girl likes being cold? Finally making her decision, she went to the Rollercoaster.

Bryce could see that the hedge was thinning just a little bit. One more turn and he should be heading out of the area. He was debating on where he was going to go once he did get out of the maze. He needed out so that he could either wait for Willow somewhere else or find something that he could us as a weapon. He was without most things as he'd run from the Cornicupia. He was in a sense regretting having done that but he was alive so he would just hope and pray that someone liked him enough to get him food and water. It was dark around him and this place gave him the creeps but he had to press on and he had to be strong. After all life was just throwing him curve balls until it threw him away like a piece of trash. It was a morbid way of thinking about it but he was here to help Willow go home. He knew that death as coming for him and there was no reason to deny it. If he did make it home he wouldn't be the same and he was sure Lidia would be afraid of him.
Bryce shook his head and continued to walk out of the maze.

Bryce walked into a dead end while he was thinking. He let out a groan and then turned to head back and take the other fork in the road he needed out of this place before something went wrong. He wasn't about to fight mutts bare handed but he would do so if he didn't choose right or he'd fall into a trap he wasn't sure. After all the game makers could be having fun with him. He had hit two dead end while in this maze and everything else had been fine. He really needed to stop thinking of other things while he walked around in here. At least thinking of it as a wheat field helped to calm his mind initially. It was doing nothing right now. Right now it was being a hinderance because it was reminding him of home. He shook his head and came back to the fork and took another direction. He took a deep breath and headed down the path again. He really didn't want to die in this damn maze.

He sighed a breath of relief when he saw the end of the maze. He ran to the end of the path and then looked around him. He needed to get out of here before he was spotted. He took a deep breath and made a run for it. He was sure that if anyone else was still around and coming out of the maze he would be doomed. He just prayed that Willow had found her way out as well. He really needed to have made a better plan for the bloodbath. Upon emerging from the maze he could smell smoke which he'd apparently not been smelling before. There was a cloud of it over an area in the arena. He wondered what had been set on fire and why. He shook his head not caring to find out because it could be a trap. He just knew better then to do something like that. How he was getting out of battles at the moment was beyond him. There were cannons that had sounded a while ago but he hadn't been paying attention. He continued to make a run for the rollercoaster.

(1 Correct Way, 1 Dead End)
Lucas continued walking. It was a good thing he didn't tire easy, and he supposed luck was on his side since he hadn't encountered any body or any thing. If he was forced to, he thought perhaps he'd rather deal with a mutt than a tribute. At least if he had to kill a mutt, he thought perhaps he wouldn't feel so bad. Lucas held his ax gingerly, flipping and twirling it as he walked. His knife was snug on the side of his jeans and from time to time, his fingers would touch against it just to make sure it was still there. But his ax, he kept on hand. He figured if an attack happened, it would be when he least expected it. At least by having his ax on hand, he'd be able to counter attack if such an unexpected attack happened.
Lucas looked up at the sky. The hedges rose far above his head, covering part of his vision of the sky. It seemed to darken as he walked. He wondered what time it was.

(1 Correct, 2 Dead end)
Lucas looked up at the sky as something bright flashed above him. A few seconds after the flash, he heard a roll of thunder boom across the sky, the low sound rumbling in the air. He felt a cold wind blow, goose flesh covered every inch of his skin as he walked. Lucas stopped for a few moments and made sure that no one was around. The storm was the only thing stirring in the air. He pulled off both straps of his backpack and unzipped it. Lucas pulled out the brown blanket and wrapped it around his neck before zipping the bag up once more and putting his arms through the straps. He pulled down the blanket around him, keeping the wind at bay. Lucas turned around a hedge and wished he had a poncho right about now. As he had expected, rain came crashing down.
It only took a few minutes for the water to rise, a flood filling over the ground. He looked up just in time to see lightning hit the ground. Before he could think another word, electricity shocked and chilled his body. It only lasted a few seconds, but the pain was nothing he'd ever experienced before.

(2 Correct, 2 Dead Ends)
Lucas had stopped at a corner inside the hedge. The storm was unforgiving and wailed inside the Arena the entire night. Covering up with the blanket, he tried his best to bury himself inside the walls of the hedge maze. He had hacked away at the leaves and branches with the ax and small knife he carried with him. He was careful to try not to cut himself while trying to hack at the hedge maze. Unfortunately the hedge was much too dense for him to get too far. But it was just enough that he was able to wrap himself inside the hedge maze in a sort of cocoon around him.
He fell asleep in the comfort of his little makeshift house, but he knew it was nowhere near safe. Although he remained asleep, he didn't have an easy night's sleep. The storm was loud with thunder and strong wind which woke him up once every hour, or so it seemed. But the night had passed by event-less, fortunately for Lucas. In the morning, he remained inside his shelter and waited out the storm. He found no tributes or mutts. Once the sun shone, he got out of his little hole in the hedge and began to walk once more. He looked up, seeing a rainbow in the sky and breathed a sigh of relief at the nice day that had come after the dreadful storm. It wasn't until later that same day that he heard two cannons fire, one almost after the other with only a few minutes in between. He wondered who the two other tributes were and where they were. Besides from the maze, Lucas didn't know any other part of the arena. He wasn't even completely sure if no one else was in the maze. It was likely that at least one other person was in there. Lucas couldn't help but wonder if he would ever run into them and what he would do. The past two days had passed by without a single blip on his end and though he felt lucky and fortunate for not having to face any tributes or mutts on his journey, he couldn't help but worry that his luck would surely run out soon. He hoped later than sooner.
Lucas' thoughts went to Johanna Mason, wondering what she was doing right now at that moment. He wondered if she had spoken to President Snow about the subject that she had told him about when they were still in the apartment. He smiled slightly, thinking about that night. Though horrible as it might seem, he couldn't help but feel thankful for that night. Without it, he couldn't have told Johanna how he felt. He wondered if he was a fool for falling in love with his mentor. Much less a girl that he barely knew and only for two weeks at most. Was it possible to fall in love so quickly? Was it even love? Lucas wasn't sure, he'd never been in love before. Whatever it was, it was strong and it willed him to stay alive and keep going. He had to find a way out somehow or he was sure he'd starve to death. He hoped that Johanna could help him out somehow.

(2 Correct, 3 Dead Ends) Lucas awoke the next morning to a bright and sunny day. There was not a single cloud in the sky and if anything, the sun seemed to be beating down hotter than the previous days. He had been at the Arena for 3 consecutive days without a single blip. He wondered what everyone else was doing, were they all dead? Of course not, he had only heard a few canon shots, but not nearly enough for 24. Besides, the projection in the sky always played. There were just a few more people in the game, less than ten now. He wondered when he would be seeing anyone. Maybe luck was on his side. The more he thought it, the more he tried to stop himself from thinking it to prevent himself from getting jinxed. He knew that if he kept saying he was lucky, his luck would eventually run out and in a very bad way.
Opening a package of food, he began to eat a little at a time while walking. Careful to pay attention to his surroundings and always getting ready for an attack.

Johanna had had the worst week ever, but it didn't matter now. Both of her tributes were (surprisingly) alive, but the dark-haired didn't care about the little b*tch. She was nothing compared to Lucas, and he seemed as if he actually had a chance on winning. The one thing he didn't do was kill anyone, and she knew that would be his downfall. If he didn't kill anyone, and soon, the Gamemakers would get bored with the blond and end up killing him. Snow's talk ended in catastrophe and now Lucas's family was at stake. A video was released of them kissing on the balcony, and Snow promised that if Lucas didn't win, his family would end up dead on the ground. Just like hers had been only two days earlier. Grabbing a piece of crumpled up paper, she started writing on it. As she started to write they're coming for your family she scratched it out as best as she could. Throwing it at the mentor, she knew that he had to get the note soon. Snow had her right in his hands, and if Lucas didn't come back, she wouldn't be able to live with herself.

(3 Correct, 3 Dead Ends) Lucas walked for a long time, he didn't know where he was going and he had given up trying to memorize where he had been. He thought about walking back out since the maze seemed to go on forever, but every time he turned around something in his stomach flipped and made him queasy. He couldn't remember whether he had taken a left or a right. So Lucas would turn back to his path and continue on, not daring to go back and lose whatever progress he was making. IF he was making in progress. For all he knew, he was going around in circles and repeating the same steps. Occasionally he's look down at the ground and the hedges wondering if he had seen those same ones before, but everything looked the same. If he had been there before, he certainly wouldn't have known it.
He continued on, forcing his feet to take one step after another although his legs where starting to ache.

(3 Correct, 4 Dead Ends)
The sun was beginning to lower in the horizon. He tried to look over the top of the hedge, but as always, it was much too high- even for him. He'd tried jumping up, climbing over, but the hedge was too stubborn to allow him to do anything. He wasn't sure if the GameMakers had forgotten about him or if they were planning something especial, either way, he was sure that sooner or later his luck would run out. Every minute of the day, this thought ran into his head like a battering ram and every time he thought about it, he felt like throwing up. But he couldn't do that. He was almost about to run out of food and water, but somehow, Johanna had kept sending him food and water whenever he needed it. He smiled thinking of her as he walked.
*beep* *beep* *beep*
His ears pricked up at the sound. A package! no.... A letter... As soon as it was close enough, Lucas grabbed it quickly and tore open the letter. The paper had crumbled lines in it as if someone had crunched it up and then reopened it and tried to mend it back smooth. He read the words, his heart thumping. There was a sentence that was crossed out and Lucas could barely make out the words. The only thing he got out of it was "for your family." Johanna was probably trying to tell him to survive for his family. Lucas sat down against a hedge and re-read the letter over and over.
Doing amazing. Try harder. If he was doing so amazing, shouldn't he keep doing what he was doing? But then he thought, what exactly was he doing? He was trying to get out of the maze, which seemed impossible to do. At times he often wondered if this was a game the GameMakers were doing to him. Where they purposely making him lost? He wasn't sure, but it was possible that Johanna would run out of sponsors soon. What if he just starved to death? He scoffed, if he was lucky he'd starve to death.
Lucas looked down again and read the letter once more. Why had she crossed out that part of the letter? Why would she do that? And why would she even send the letter? They had already talked about the fact that he would try. But he had told her it would be difficult for him to kill someone, in fact pretty improbable. He folded up the letter and squeezed it in his hands in frustration. What was he supposed to do!? He wanted to scream out in anger, but his brain told him to keep calm. There might be others nearby. Lucas pushed his head back against the hedge, it wasn't even hard enough for him to hurt himself with. Lucas tucked the letter into his pocket and stood back up. There was nothing he could do but get out of the maze, maybe that's what she meant by try harder. But honestly, he didn't know what else to do but keep walking. Maybe there was something he was missing?

(4 Correct, 4 Dead Ends) Lucas walked, his legs aching. How long was this maze going to last? He wondered again if he walking in circles. He ate some more food as he walked, sipping slowly on the canteen. He thought about his life as he walked, for a few moments, his guard was down. It was the fifth day and he had been very lucky thus far. Again, he knew his luck was bound to run out. He tried to recall his first memory. It was of his mother. She was holding the two twin brothers on her arms, a glowing smile on her face. She had just delivered them both and he was about 4 years old. He wondered if that was at what age most people could remember things. He thought maybe he should remember certain things earlier than 4 years old. But he try as he might, he could not. Just his mother in her parents bedroom, holding the two boys. It was probably a few hours after she had delivered though.
